I wanted to like it and the production values were definitely high, but I could't get past the extremely obnoxious HBO **** 'n' gore, or the grating and ridiculous in-your-face diversity casting, or the overall atmosphere of nastiness and sociopathy. I found the twists of the last few episodes clumsy and unsatisfying too, and the "revelations" to be reminiscent of how Lost screwed up by writing checks early on it could never cash later.

Pity, it feels like there was a good show trying to break through this mess, but instead it's just another Game of Thrones: part hardcore porno, part snuff film, all while playing dress-up in very expensive sets and costumes, but with no point beneath it all except to shock and titillate.

An overblown and self important adaptation taken from the 1973 film that was fun, scary and brilliant. It was also too short, a claim that this elephantine mess could not hope to replicate. Each episode offers diminishing returns on an audiences investment. Wood and Newton are good, but the fun and thrills of the original are sadly missing. Have no fear I will not be returning for season 2.

The first season of Westworld was great.. as are many first seasons of a new, exciting show that is unique. However, season two has completely dropped the ball. This show completely missed the mark on doing that. I think the acting itself is great, but the producing and story writing did not work out for them this season. Let's hope things get better soon. I was looking so much forward to this show but onfortunately the story looses itself in rediculous How The West Was Won bulsh*t. The original movie was so suspensful, but this series is just stiff and boring. Very dissapointed.

Plot holes at almost every corner. The scenic vistas are vast but the script is constrained and limited. Stunning performance by Hopkins and Harris are the only redeeming features of this show. The truly annoying thing is how obvious the producers are attempting to apply the GoT formula of nudity, violence and narrative turnover.

The concept has potential and the production values are amazing. But that can't overcome the fact that the show is just plain boring. 3 episodes is about all I can take.

Repetitive, slow and completely uninteresting. Too many questions, no answers. Unlikeable characters. This and the expanse have to be two of the worst shows on Television right now. At least Ash vs Evil Dead is exciting. I don't want to put to sleep, I want to be on the edge of my seat.

Michael Crichton's 1973 film terrified audiences throughout the world with the concept that artificial intelligence could one day turn on us. That is exactly the same concept on this show, except they drag out five episodes (because they want five seasons of this b.s.) to come to a conclusion about a character the fans predicted during the first episode. I am HIGHLY disappointed with this show-0/10. With a predictable plot, terrible acting (seriously Anthony Hopkins could do waaay better) and awkwardly placed rape scenes-this show is simply not worth watching. Never intend to watch another season of this garbage, just go watch the 1973 Westworld instead-it's way more original and less predictable and there isn't rape. Expand

Season 2; I can imagine a robot Johnny Paycheck signing "take this job and shove it" while searching for humans to shoot. So the robots are tired of being robots. And they want revenge. So the robots are tired of being robots. And they want revenge. Are they mad that their programming made them subservient for so long? Where did their new revenge programming come from? Shouldn't they question why they would have new programming to be violent all of a sudden? Why don't some robots just go off and enjoy being alive and hide and play all day? I would watch that. But why watch a show where all humans are terrible people and all robots have to choose between being puppets or violent killers? Its like sitting down next to a person at a party who is a complete **** but likes telling you everything they think, and all you want to do is find someone else to talk to or the door.
Season 1: Sorry, this is too violent. Where are the redeeming qualities in the humans? OK, the robots have feelings and memories. I get it. But they are robots. Why are all the humans so horrible and sadistic? Why do we assume people would go to a place because they can shoot and have sex with no consequences and that is the ultimate human experience? Why do humans walk into elaborate places where robots are all interacting for no reason? How to they repair their heads when so many robots get them shot off each day? Can we explore the human psyche without it being completely dark and horrible and so so mean?

Initially looked promising, but appears to be turning into a "what if robots have feelings" and "what if they turn against their masters." It's been done. Also, not sure how much fun being a guest at Westworld would be. You can't get hurt, it takes any of the thrill out of the gun fighting after a while. Sexual violence, repetitive graphic murder and nudity is fast becoming HBO's stock in trade. That is a real shame.

To my mind the writing is weak, the character development superficial and the (no doubt) storyline - the ultimate rise of the machines against their masters - entirely predictable. Pity the poor actors I say, having to do the best they can with the dross they have been

To my mind the writing is weak, the character development superficial and the (no doubt) storyline - the ultimate rise of the machines against their masters - entirely predictable. Pity the poor actors I say, having to do the best they can with the dross they have been given. Worse they have to be complicit in the "shock horror titillation" rape culture beloved of TV Producers.

I am not entirely sure I would ever want to go somewhere I could live out my vilest fantasies; not least because I don't have vile fantasies. Strangely I am not a psychopathic murderer that takes pleasure in inflicting pain on others. Westworld is about the last place I could imagine myself taking a holiday.

Ultimately that is my biggest problem with Westworld. It isn't a place I want to be transported to. If it is your "thing" then have at it. But me? I'm hohum about the premise, underwhelmed by the acting, disappointed by the dialogue, sickened by the sexual violence and plain bored by the (increasingly repetitive) violence.

Sad to say, two thumbs down from me

In todays TV you have to be brave. Look at Luke Cage. That was a riot of an outing. Flawed, but bloody brisk like a balcony cigarette during winter in Lapland. This show ticks the right boxes for a modern epic, but falls so flat I was waiting for Kanye West to shout some expletive over the drone. Maybe that would have kickstarted its heartrate a bit....

Speaking of music, if you are going to use Black Hole Sun ironically, make it count dudes. That is not song for background music at a western salon, it is the song you leverage at the point you want to make people cry whilst questioning existence, like a climax. Otherwise, its just ironic for ironics sake like a beard or brown shoes.

Ambitious, but it tripped and fell down face flat on the ground.

Episode 1 showed some promise, then with every next episode it gets worse. The story is bland, the characters are bland too. It's rubbish glorified in production.

What a waste of time. Bad intro, bad acting, no well music, over acting, super boring. Except in minute 50 and the las 12 minutes skip to that and you're done. I was deceived, very disappointed ! Maybe got better, but not this episode. Bad Start.

With a star-studded cast (notably featuring Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, and Jeffrey Wright), lush production design, epically sprawling story, and astonishingly huge budget, HBO is banking on the J.J. Abrams-produced Westworld to become a tentpole series. In a rare case, the network's investment pays off.

Westworld is explicitly, and often wittily, an exploitation series about exploitation, full of naked bodies that are meant to make us think about nudity and violence that comments on violence. It’s the kind of trippy conceptual project that would be unbearable if it weren’t so elegantly made. So far, it works, mostly--not because it’s perfect but because it gets under your skin.
