Summary: Jim Crockett, Jr. sold his regional promotion Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling to Turner Broadcasting (which already owned NWA Georgia & NWA Florida) to form the national promotion World Championship Wrestling(WCW). With Turner owning TBS, this offered a national forum for WCW. Enter Clash of the Champions. From March 27, 1988 to August 21, 1997 'Clash' provided PPV quality matches on cable television.
