The first thing I can say on what makes this show so special is that when you watch it, the tone and color pallete are enough to distract you from the real threat while it's slowly being revealed and even some things that seem frankly off are not who they say they are. The performances, while they could definitely be better, are still great enough to convince you of the setting you're in and help you care for the characters all the way up to the end. The story is amazing and makes sense for the characters on screen and certainly leaves me excited for what's more coming up in the future (if only that could be the case with how bad the rest of the Phase was). Now with that being said, I do think the show is not perfect. Like how the villains could be better since they aren't memorable and their motivations kinda suck, the camera in some fight sequences for some reason quickly cuts too fast leading me confused on what I saw. Finally, while this is minor, this line "They'll never know what you sacrificed for them", is probably one of the worst lines I've ever heard in a television show since it didn't make sense back then and it still doesn't make sense nowadays. Overall, I enjoyed Wandavision back then and I'm so happy to rewatch it again and I look forward to see where Marvel takes this show in the future. Expand

Wandavision takes us into Wanda's psyche and mourning, with a wonderful homage to sitcoms in the background. Mysteries rendered perfectly and shocking scenes placed at the right point. The only negative note is the casting choice of Ralph Bohner, who in the showrunner's mind should have been a treat for the spectators but turned out to be slightly annoying. The ending felt a bit hasty but that does not change the final effect of this series, which is one of the most niche and touching products of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I hope with all my heart they will follow this path. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff and Vision appear to be living inside inside a real life sit-com, but strange occurrences threaten to upset their idyllic life.

WandaVision is certainly a unique television show, and for the majority of this season the mix of sit-com styles and gradually unravelling of its deeper mysteries, makes for entertaining and enthralling TV. Unfortunately it’s unable to stick the landing, so to speak, with a disappointingly unoriginal finale that fails to deliver on much of what is hinted at during previous episodes.

Overall, it’s still a pretty good watch, but I couldn’t help but in the end I couldn’t help coming away feeling a little flat.

I almost quit after 2 episodes despite liking the ideas, style and characters as it was a bit boring. From episode 3 onward the show had won me over and is truly 10/10 material. This is probably the reason why there are mixed reviews and opinions. When the show was announced I was interested in the idea especially because Vision was seemingly destroyed in Avengers Endgame and Scarlet Witch aka Wanda was traumatized. After seeing the trailers it looked like something I would never expect (Meant in a positive way). This was right as the show is a mixture of genres like superhero, sitcom, family drama, reality show and self discovery / hero's journey. I like the story, character development, twists, ideas and interactions. Because of spoilers I cant go into details only that if follows Wanda Maximoff after the events of Avengers Endgame and her struggles to cope with her loses. Like I said it takes a bit but then works excellent and is unique or better said refreshing. There will also be consequences and developments. The cast delivers a praiseworthy performance. Lets start with the leading roles Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and Vision. The description power-couple comes to my mind and I genuinely cared for them. They are so relatable, immersive and heartwarming. Also they can deliver a full variety of emotions and use their talents to great potential. Then we have Kathryn Hahn who positively surprised me and is excellent. I liked her already in Crossing Jordan which I recommend also by the way. There is Teyonah Parris who is excellent as Monica Rambeau and I want to see more from her which is also valid for Kat Dennings as Dr. Darcy Lewis and Randall Park as Agent Woo. The rest also delivers and help to fully sell the characters and story. Visually the show deserved a lot of praise too. The special effects are excellent as expected from Marvel. However the sets and mask / make up may be even better. They have many styles and always archive the intended result to deliver the right atmosphere (I am a bit vague to avoid spoilers). The soundtrack is fine for me and helps to create the right atmosphere. Lastly I could feel the emotional impact and feelings of the characters as they always manage to succeed in the show not tell rule. Overall this is an excellent show and I recommend it. Like already said the first 2 episodes are a bit slower and so a warning is fair. The rest is truly awesome and 10/10 material. With the slower start I give an 8/10 as I almost quit and only a praise of the later episodes by a co-worker avoided that. Thank you Inga by the way. Expand

WandaVision is the first in Marvel's line of TV streaming shows. Wanda and Vision haven't been in the spotlight since Age Of Ultron, so a series fully dedicated to these two were very interesting. "Set three weeks after the events ofWandaVision is the first in Marvel's line of TV streaming shows. Wanda and Vision haven't been in the spotlight since Age Of Ultron, so a series fully dedicated to these two were very interesting. "Set three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Wanda Maximoff and Vision are living an idyllic suburban life in the town of Westview, New Jersey, trying to conceal their true natures. As they begin to enter new decades and encounter television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem". I'm a big MCU fan and after Endgame Vision was still pretty much dead so this series bringing him back alive piqued my interest. So is this a great start for MCU TV shows or a big slip up for Marvel?

Firstly, the concept of a Superhero Sitcom with a bit of mystery is such a unique concept for the Superhero genre. Marvel is one of the biggest names nowadays and they make very entertaining movies, but it can feel a bit formulaic. However, WandaVision takes a risk by doing something drastically different and it executes it marvellously. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of Sitcoms but some great moments gave me quite the chuckle. WandaVision goes through multiple eras of sitcoms from "The Dick Van Dyke Show" to "Full House" to "Malcolm in the Middle" to "The Office" and they replicate it very well. The showrunner knew their Sitcoms and WandaVision conveys this. Additionally, I love how they use different cameras, different colours and different resolutions for what Sitcom era they are on or changes to a cinematic look for characters outside the Sitcom stuff. There is also clearly a lot of work put into the set design and costumes to replicate these eras as well. Near the last couple of episodes when it goes full Marvel movie there are some great VFX for the action set-pieces as well. The characters in this series are also all great. Wanda (Elisabeth Olsen) returns and is a lot more on edge compared to the movies. Likewise, Vision (Paul Bettany) was always the cool but slightly awkward Robot guy in the movies but here feels a lot more personality than we have ever seen before. Both Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany did a great job with these characters in the movies but here they genuinely give some of the best performance I've seen in any Marvel project. Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) returns from the Thor movies and is now more than just a side lady who quips a lot but feels more knowledgeable and helpful albeit still very funny. Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) returns from Ant-Man and the Wasp and gets to be more on the heroic side and does some cool stuff. Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) returns from Captain Marvel and is now all grown up and played by a different actor who does a phenomenal job in giving a cool, badass character. Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is a new supporting character who is very funny as the nosy neighbour with a high libido. The story is also very engaging with the subtle weirdness that occurs in each episode. I won't go into spoiler territory but there is some great twist in this series. Some emotional moments were very effective in hitting me in the core, especially the last couple of episodes. I also really love that there are adverts that were created specifically for the series that adds another layer to the titular character and the story.

Nonetheless, I have some minor gripes with the series and that it is a very slow burn of a series. It takes quite a while for it to kick into gear in my opinion. The first 3 episodes don't have much happening and it is understandable because the series meant to start more on the sitcom side of things but it does get to points where you're hoping whether something will happen or not. There are also some things in the story near the end that were kind of underwhelming. Without spoiling it is a revelation of a certain character and another character who just appears and then mysteriously disappears for some reason. It just raised a lot of eyebrows in my opinion. Additionally, there is one supporting character I just feel is very weak in terms of character and motives. Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) is the acting director of S.W.O.R.D who just has vague reasons for what he does and I wish they gave more backstory and depth to him because in the end he just feels like an obstacle. After all, the plot needed it to be.

Overall, this is a great start for MCU TV streaming shows. WandaVision does something new with the genre and delivers on it. It also successfully makes us love Wanda and Vision even more. Like most Marvel movies, the ending leads to a lot of interesting possibilities. I thought that Endgame might it for me for the MCU but WandaVision manages to convince me to keep track of the MCU. If this is the quality of Marvel TV shows then I am looking forward to the next one.

In recent years, Marvel has tried to push the boundaries with their content by moving away from your typical superhero film, and started blending them into different genres. WandaVision is the first introduction to something that feels completely fresh and new, at least regarding the first two episodes.

Wanda, Vision, and supporting characters are dropped into a completely new decade each episode, starting from the '50s in Episode 1 to the '60s in Episode 2.

It is important to point out that so far, the beauty of WandaVision is on its historical television accuracy and character focus. Though there is a great deal of mystery brewing in the background regarding the reason for the 'Truman Show' vibes, it is really fun to see the characters poke fun at each era.

The show's attention to detail for the decade used in each episode is incredibly intricate, all the way from the wardrobe to the set design. The look and feel of both episodes accurately reflects what one would expect if they went back in time to these decades. They had even created unique intros, which are such fun little additions to the episode.

The cast's incredible performances amplified the brilliance of the script, as they truly embodied a person from that period, right down to the mannerisms and catchphrases.

Without going into spoilers, the first two episodes of Wandavision are a lot of fun to watch! It was also great to finally see two characters that haven't had much spotlight in the MCU, take center stage, and come into their own. It will be interesting to see how the mystery unfolds over the remaining seven episodes.

As a week to week experience it was always fun to theorize what would happen next, and early on it was really fun to wonder what was even going on. I have a newfound appreciation for Wanda and Vision as characters because, to be totally honest, I didn’t really care at all for them in the movies. I also have even more confidence in Marvel than ever, which seems to be an ever growing feeling with every new piece of media they release, because this proves they can do a great tv show (that actually has an impact on the MCU and is also like directly controlled by the people that have created the MCU, because Agents of Shield is also great) and that they’re willing to take more risks in what they produce. I can’t really think of a more out there idea than this, especially in the superhero genre. When it was starting out I was so confused why they’d make a sitcom, like an actual sitcom, with these characters and in this universe and in this way. And admittedly it was a little too strange to love at first but it was in service of telling a great story. Seeing how stylized they could make it was really interesting. The one thing I’ll say I didn’t like that much is a bit of a spoiler so I won’t mention it. I feel like I conclude everything I talk about with Marvel with “can’t wait to see more” but... yeah. Can’t wait to see more. Expand

The showThis show really was a good start for the MCU Disney + line up The first 3 episodes start of really slow and I feel like episodes 1 and 2 could have been combined, but they sort of did do that by releasing them both at the same time. The show has great story's and characters new and old. all of the actors even the kids who play Speed and Wiccan do good jobs. however there are a few complaints. the Evan Peters as fake quicksilver was really insulting. I cant see how they thought doing that would have sat well with critics and fans.
some of the CGI is pretty bad. not very pleased if this is how all of the Disney + shows are going to look visually. Whoever wrote the dialogue for vision needs to be payed way more. In the last 3 episodes he really becomes the comic book vision we know and love. And I really enjoy how instead of White Vision and Fake Vision instead of a dramatic comic book fight they have a philosophical debate about what's real and what's not.
The "Villian" (more of an antihero) Agatha Harkness played by the amazing Kathryn Hahn is a fantastic villain and I think she could become the next Loki. Many of the people giving this show bad reviews are because they are upset that no surprise cameos appeared (Doctor Strange) and I feel that the rating for this show would have been much higher if doctor strange or someone showed up. People need to understand that fanservice doesn't make a movie/show good. the only charecter i think would make sense to show up in this would be Clint Barton because he was close with wanda.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WandaVision, that show that officially kicked off Phase 4 of the MCU because of COVID delays on movies, is a very different MCU installment than anything we’ve seen before. It’s basically a movie told in an episodic structure, and was Marvel Studios’s first attempt at a property like it. WandaVision is a comedy sitcom joyride through some fairly recently decades in our history that features unique sets that change as the series continues. WandaVision starts out with slow pacing and takes a few episodes to get exciting and gain traction with viewers, but when it does it really gets going and becomes truly entertaining and more like the movies we’ve become so accustomed to over the past decade. The episode by episode reveal of what’s really going on in the show creates multiple cliffhangers and climaxes and is sure to leave many wanting to see what happens next. The show focuses more on sets and dialogue than it does on action but also recognizes that there needs to be action to keep the vast majority of audiences engaged. Aside from a tour through history, there are nice references to other TV shows that will give many people some nostalgia; a certain actor who appears in a few episodes of the show will likely do the same although for different reasons. The “big villain” reveal is predictable and something a lot of people probably saw coming, but it manages to work in the show nonetheless and really kick the show into full gear. The end is a bit of a mess and didn’t give a lot of people the conclusion they were likely hoping for, and I put myself in that category. Overall, while WandaVision may not be perfect due to its pacing and structure, it’s a breath of fresh air and is yet another genre deviation for Marvel that works for the most part and leaves some room for improvement. Unfortunately, it’s retro throwbacks aren’t very good. I don’t think I laughed even once until the 6th episode, which embraced the more rambunctious comedy of early 2000s hits like Malcolm in the Middle. What ultimately kept me watching despite that was the underlying mystery of the whole thing. The blatantly bizarre premise for a superhero show will naturally have you asking “what the heck iiiiiiiissss this crap?” Something the show plays off of well by offering subtle clues that nothing is what it seems to keep you interested during these duller segments.

The closer this draws to a close the more it begins to resemble a traditional MCU flick, with the same quality of action and visuals you would expect to see on theater screens. It even fleshes out Wanda Maximoff in some compelling ways that finally make her as developed as the other heroes she has been standing alongside for years now. The problem is with the two title Avengers being trapped in such a bizarre scenario, the storytelling in this half is primarily centered around characters portrayed by Kat Dennings, Randall Park, Teyonah Paris, and Josh Stamberg. All of whom are supremely annoying. Particularly Dennings who I honestly wanted to reach into my TV and strangle. So while this portion is a bit more exciting, it’s still not very fulfilling and further exemplifies how WandaVision is just kind of boring overall. Especially since you can predict quite a few elements of its plot fairly easily.

This isn’t entirely shippable however. The events here will have a significant impact on and tie directly into upcoming projects such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s also nice to see Disney and Marvel do something truly new and original with their cinematic universe for the first time since The Avengers. So for the hardcore devotees and followers of this sprawling, multimedia continuity, this is worth watching and may even be essential viewing. For the less invested who simply tune in on these properties for a good time, this might not be for you as the entertainment value varies wildly.

Perhaps it can be argued that Wandavision did not end up living up to certain expectations, but it provided a new way of interacting with these characters. Because frankly the development of both, especially Elizabeth Olsen's character, had been practically minuscule since the two appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. It doesn't make up for it at all, but it didn't seem like a bad investment of time.

At its best it's a rewarding meditation on loss and grief, and surprisingly, a little lesson about moving on.

In its best known parts it's everything that Marvel has known how to do in its own terms of entertaining with comedy and action.

This is a new era and a new narrative medium to explore for the entertainment saga that is destined to become the largest and most successful franchise ever.

I'm seeing a trend with Marvel shows where they start out really promising with a great setup and then really devolve in the second half with a disappointing conclusion.
Wandavision is a prime example of this. Frankly, the first 60-70% of the show were incredible. Wanda and Vision seem to be trapped in some kind of oldschool sitcom with seemingly no knowledge of their past or what happened during Endgame (are these even the same Wanda and Vision or is this even real?). Even just as a sitcom this show is really funny and entertaining but the added mystery of what the hell is going on just adds an extra layer on top. It reminded me a bit of Twin Peaks and The Truman Show in the best possible way.
I'm not going to spoil the ending but unfortunately somewhere halfway through once the mystery starts to unfold is also when the show really drops in quality and goes from greatness to generic Marvel mediocrety.

In first three episodes, you can't get what is going on but after fourth episode everything starts getting clear slowly slowly. Many people are complaining that first three episodes are bad but I think just showing action in ghe starting would have made this just normal show. I loved the intrigue and mystery of the first three episodes. Fourth episode justifies the use of the first three and even gave some answers to the many questions.

Overall, a great show. And no one should judge this (or any other show) on the basis of first three episodes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WandaVision had such a cool and mysterious vibe to it, the setting is so unique for Marvel and it ties in nice with Wanda's character and actions. The later episodes were a little bit lackluster, especially the last one. Agatha was a little bit of a weak villain in my opinion, she kind of just popped up out of literally nowhere but i understand how her character ties into the Scarlet Witch. Great OST too.

Such as Agatha too, who was not comic accurate imo. Yes she is younger, but they could make her like in the X men Evolution, old, wise, serious and overpowered, but that's me, I only watched it because I wanted to know if it will be related to the next movie Wanda will appear in. The series starts out very slow with its attempt to be sitcoms from each decade progressing, but it hints at a lot of build up with countless references and small easter eggs.

The pay off when everything is revealed is what you're really going to watch the show for, but the problem with that is- there is no payoff.

It's almost completely misdirection- without spoiling anything the biggest things that come from this is that we find out that the characters we already know are superheroes are superheroes.

It's as disappointing as finding out the aliens that invaded a planet that's 70% water are allergic to water- we find out that the scarlet witch is the scarlet witch and she uses chaos magic...

But that'd be like finding out Charles Xavier is Professor X, or Magneto controls metals.

The show presents itself as some sort of mystery that leaves you wondering what'll happen- but when nothing happens, it reveals it's really just an origin story for a character who has already been in multiple movies.

One other new superhero is introduced, finds out she has powers, and then spends half the rest of the season doing nothing. She's just there.

And the message is fairly baffling- if we were to see this from the perspective of the 'villain' with Wanda being the antagonist the person they cast as the villain ends up being a far more credible hero of the story if you were to break it down logically.

It's fun enough to watch for the tidbits, the acting and the subtle hints seem to be pretty clever- but it ends up going nowhere. If it were canceled before the final two episodes leaving us never knowing how it ended I think it'd have been more satisfying.

WandaVision isWandaVision is a masterful debut into television for the MCU to develop its characters in much more meaningful ways and add complexity to the storytelling all the while expanding the universe into new and uncharted territories. WandaVision is surprisingly skilful in emulating sitcoms over the decades and setting up the tragedy we are about to witness later in the season. The show is elevated with another layer of mystery Including who is really pulling the strings? and how this facade is about to be torn down?. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are a blast, with Olsen particularly stands out with one of her career-best performances. To those impatient viewers, I would suggest that to stop watching the show weekly and binge the entire season when all the episodes are out. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. FINAL THOUGHTS: Solid main cast and nothing else. The story is a nothing burger with a little gravy on top. Skipped a few eps, FF-ed through others, and watched the finale. Predictable, unsatisfying, and ultimately pointless. Nothing happens. It's bait for subscriptions alone.

------------------------------------------------------------------

It spiked my interest after reading some stellar reviews and thought, "Ok, an original idea, let's see where it goes".

2 episodes down, roughly an hour later, the show starts with some interesting setup and goes absolutely nowhere. The premise is overstaying its welcome at this point. Literally, nothing of consequence occurs and it's more than 20% than the total runtime. I'm starting to wonder about all these fantastic reviews. I was expecting some solid production quality, but it seems the most expensive bits (besides the main actor pair) are the end credits animations. The rest is so heavily and simplistically stylized that I'm not sure what to think of.

------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE 1: One ep later and now we know what's going on, sadly that doesn't change much of the expectations. There weren't many paths to take and this, was early predictable, depending on the timeline. Looking at reviews on the Tube, people had pretty much the same idea. This is just a weird show to exist. It doesn't provide much, it feels like an hour-long featurette stretched into multiple, smaller episodes just to have more content. But the problem remains, it's just aimless. You don't have much to look forwards to as a viewer. I'll probably FF my way through the rest. My prediction for the end is Wanda going bananas on the soldiers outside until she faces reality and all go home. It's a story going nowhere, but we shall see. The score remains unchanged.

------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE 2: The episodes are no more than 10 minutes of content. Nothing meaningful happens the rest of the time. They revealed the bad guy with episode 7 and from here on it's not really worth watching. This whole thing should have been done as a movie or 3x40 min long mini-series. It's just so incredibly pointless.

I don't care is how I sum up my experience with this show. I stopped at episode 4 and couldn't be bothered past that. I just don't care enough to watch any more. Is it interesting and fun? Yes. Is it an action drama that pretends to be a mystery thriller? Yes, and it suffers for it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It’s pretty horrible. Spoiler alert. Awful parodying of old comedy shows shows terrible writing. The opening/ending credits already give away the big secret as does the mention of hydra in obvious ways (unless you don’t read comics and don’t get the reference). My wife asked who this show was meant for and I honestly couldn’t give her an answer. Expand

Boring, pointless without any humor! This TV show is extremely unnecessary. I saw all 9 episodes and can only say: waste of time!

This is garbage and not worth your time. Go watch some old sitcoms that are actually funny instead..

So far so boring, two full episodes mimicking the stylings of old sitcoms with just a hint of intrigue. Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen are admittedly charming, but not charming enough to raise this above - 3 stars.

Very meh show. Wouldn't recommend for those who are looking for a true superhero show. I can't see this becoming the next Mandalorian-level subscription seller, but I'd wait for Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLDR:
Hollow show that only gets by on Wanda and Vision producing content to the greater marvel universe.
Bad characters, bad story, plots holes. You may be excited at the beginning, wondering what's going on, but by the end you'll be disappointed knowing nothing cool or creative was written for this show.

Beginning, I enjoyed. A little slow, but mysterious.
Next part is interesting, builds upon the plot.
Next part drags on. Knowing what is going to happen and just waiting for the characters to get it all out, but is dragged across 3 episodes. Last 2 episodes are bad. So bad it kind of ruined the show for me. Comes so far out of left field and its utterly ridiculous. Not good at all. Dumb. Still like Wanda, but terrible end. Bad story telling and lots of plot holes.

Lots of plot holes throughout the show actually. Main antagonist is exceptionally generic and his secondary protagonist counterpart is just as generic and useless to the entire story.
She also is randomly a super hero. Just turns it on whenever she needs to and never says anything about it the entire show...? So random and out of left field. This character is already being forced into places she doesn't really belong. She has a absurd amount of resources at her disposal for having been dead for 5 years, but now she's a super hero? what? why? how? There's no explanation to this and there's absolutely no reason to do it. Somewhat likeable character, but feels forced into the show at almost every turn.
There's also no reason for the astro-physicist to be in the show. She's clearly there for fan service.

If the ending had been as good as the beginning, then I would say the show was great, but starting a good show without a good ending is very hollow. It's intentionally misleading the viewer to make them think that there is more content and creativity than there actually is. Its lying plain and simple. Looking at the show as a whole, you see that the story is very generic and something that most people could of guessed, You see that there is no strong characters except wanda and vision (who were developed in other movies), and you see that the show as a whole, is very shallow and revolves around holding your attention in the cheapest way possible; Using little tricks to make you think there is more to the story than there really is. They grab your attention with little lies to hold you over to the next episode, and when you see the end, you realize that there was really nothing there and no real reason to keep watching the show except to satisfy your marvel cravings. By the end of the show, I only finished it because I had come to far to just let it go.

Shame, could of been better.

Starts off as a great experiment and it also manages to gain some momentum. But then it dives nose first into the ground at mach7. Such a waste of potential.
