Don’t understand all the hate. This show is a refreshing, hilarious take on the boring Scooby Doo formula. “Oh no, people of color and gay folks are playing characters that should be white and straight.” Get over yourselves, you babies.

This show is funny and a cartoon, if you like Rick & Morty, South Park and Harley Quinn you’ll like it. The negative reviews are mean spirited.

We are not children eating cereal on Saturday morning anymore. Just as we have grown and changed it isn't a far stretch that a beloved cartoon might do the same. To the confused boomers and sensitive Gen Z; This show is like taking the 90s Gen Z movies like Natural Born Killers and mixing it with millennial cartoons like South Park and Family guy that pushes boundaries with humor. A modern retelling of the Scooby Doo mysteries with slap stick humor and actual blood is funny. Taking it a step further and adding ethnicity and watching baby boomers and conservatives crumble adds to the hilarity outside of the show itself. It's like a two for one deal for Gen Z and Millennials. I hope people stop pretending they don't know who the show is for when it is clear, it is for those who don't care what others think and can make a joke out of it. Like me, every single negative review only made me curious and I'm glad because I really enjoyed it. Expand

I love how funny and raunchy the show is, I also liked that the team is now more racially diverse and that there's LGBTQ+ representation. Definitely NOT a show for kids, but as an adult who also enjoyed the classic Scooby-Doo as a kid, I'm really enjoying it so far! Expand

Not what I was expecting but was still enjoyable for an adult cartoon. Only 2 eps so far and its starting to come together, i will give it a full season before I make a final judgement.

I think the timing for this show is about as accurate as Titanic’s maiden voyage. We’re just a little too hypersensitive these days, and the reviews for Velma certainly reflect that, don’t they?… Expand

I, for one, isn't shocked by this. Normally a show with these laughable ratings would be cancelled - of course - but shows that has a clear agenda pretty much always get one or two seasons more until it's finally cancelled, because 1. Excuses, pushing blame and total incapability to admit they might actually suck at this. "We're just being review bombed! There CAN'T be other reasons!" 2. The network is afraid of bringing down the axe, in fear of being called this or the other.
My advice to the networks: just stop encouraging shows like this. Stop wasting money on shows that undoubtedly will be cancelled and forgotten 1 or 2 years down the line anyways.

Velma is an extremely disappointing tv show that throws any regard to what made Scooby-Doo and its main characters entertaining to audiences for decades. The show attempts to tailor itself as for adults although the humour is at most something that a kid or teenager would find entertaining. Overall, it's an insult to anyone who has even the tiniest bit of enjoyment of Scooby-Doo.

It's filled with mean spirited "humor" and a meandering story that goes absolutely nowhere and that the show is happy to forget for two thirds of each episode to mimic only the worst of Family Guy's cutaway gags. It fails on every level except one, it has decent but dime-a-dozen visuals that look extremely familiar to anyone that watches mediocre adult animation. I've heard that a second season is on the way, and I sincerely can't imagine why. Expand

Shaggy and his father are annoying simps, Velma is in every facet of the word, UNLIKEABLE. Fred has a tiny penis and everyone seems to know it. Daphne, I dunno she's just there. Scooby? Nowhere to be found. Mindy Kaling, seems to be full on, "woe is me" while at the same time trashing white people at every turn, which would be fine... if any of the jokes were funny.

I wasn't high enough to tolerate the show past the first few episodes, if you did, more power to you.

Every character uses their dicks instead of their brains, even the females ones and I'm suspecting the Writers to have done the same. Every single joke is either overdone, or unfunny, or sexual.
Clearly, the animators weren't paid enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Awful awful awful. As a Scooby fan, this was a real kick in the teeth. But that’s how it was designed. Wasn’t it? A troll show. I don’t understand how advertisers think hate watchers are going to buy their products (The only reason they’re making season 2. Right?. They’re not. I’m not. In fact, I have a chip on my shoulder against anyone who funded this trash heap. This is not Scooby Doo. This is not Velma. “Norville” is not Shaggy. The political message is beyond trite. Makes progressives look like fools. I watched two episodes of this and had to stop bc I was screaming. Mindy Kaling is always going to be “that annoying fool who screwed up Scooby” to me. There’s no back-pedaling from this. I am actively not purchasing anything being sold by HBO “The Max” Warner Brothers if I can help it. And it’s all bc of Kaling and this steaming pile of a cartoon. Tip: “Don’t take shots at your audience!”
The contempt these writers have for cartoon viewers is disgusting. As a writer, I know how thin the line is. But they want to think they’re better than us? And that we all live in Mommy’s basement? Don’t worry, Kaling, WB, I’ll remember this! And do will many others.

Will hate watchers on S1 translate over to S2?
I don’t think so. I couldn’t make it past episode 2. It seems like the only ones who could were YouTubers. I really hope this isn’t where entertainment is headed—a world where content is made terribly on purpose to cause a flood of reaction videos. And as someone who made two reaction videos too Velma, I now regret it.

And I haven’t even touched on how disgusting and creepy the show’s “humor” is…

What is this fascination w sexualizing teens in media lately? There’s a nude locker room scene in the first episode. They’re supposed to be in high school!

Greenlit season 2? No, WB. NO.

Gotta work that algorithm, tho’. Rite?
