This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 4/10 because we need a new take on the old show. But... Velma suffers from not only bad writing but, well, Velma is a horrible human being and nothing like the original:

- Velma is abusive. She insults and manipulates those around her including her supposed love interests/best friends.

- Constantly considers everyone else less than her for their race, gender, and appearance.

- She insulted Norville and Gigi by saying he's only with her because she's easy.

- She literally beat Daphne, her former friend, with a crowbar and wishes she had hit her harder so she died.

- She also breaks into Fred's house, constantly body shames him for things beyond his control, never apologizes for falsely accusing him which led to him being humiliated and shot, and then tells him she finds him revolting after he becomes a feminist.

- She twerks (!) over his mother's corpse while Norville is throwing up his guts over the fact he just killed someone and she doesn't think twice to go and help him.

- She also accused, without evidence mind you, Norville's dad of being the killer and didn't even apologize to either one of them.

- She locks out her father, stepmother, and newborn half-sister out of their own home just so she can have it with her mom, who never really cared about her and why would she?

Velma is a terrible human being. And I get the feeling that the anim studio is not honest with the public on how unpopular creating such horrible characters is, if the original character was, well, literally the opposite. I am sure if would have caused less drama if Velma was some unknown new IP nobody cares about afterwards.

There is not much to like here. Loved Scooby Doo growing. This is more of a weird mix of bad adult humour and innuendos. Wtf happened here and who grew lit this I have no idea

If you can manage not to get offended, all of the extremely over-the-top woke comedy is laughable. Think Sharknado, but instead, it's Wokenado. So bad it's good.

Wow! The reviews for this show are HARSH! Damn! I mean, it’s not the greatest, but I’ve seen a helluva lot worse than Velma. I mean, it’s not the greatest, but I’ve seen a helluva lot worse than Velma. As for the whole Scooby Doo thing, I don’t feel like Velma is trying to be anything but its own entity. I think the timing for this show is about as accurate as Titanic’s maiden voyage. We’re just a little too hypersensitive these days, and the reviews for Velma certainly reflect that, don’t they?… Expand

Let’s be honest: it’s not that bad. However, it has the most horrible first episode in animation history. If you give it a chance, you’ll have not a great time as in Rick and Morty, or other series way better than this, but its storyLet’s be honest: it’s not that bad. However, it has the most horrible first episode in animation history. If you give it a chance, you’ll have not a great time as in Rick and Morty, or other series way better than this, but its story entertains fairly. This is not a masterpiece and is far away from being one, but at least the idea is still there and is not bad. Expand
