Wacky pure fun nestled in a hilariously dark premise . Even if it explores dark themes, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt always does it with such optimism (in large part due to the essentially perfect central performance from Ellie Kemper) that it doesn't feel depressing in the slightest. It's also brilliantly witty, and boasting a small but very talented web of main characters. And even if DongWacky pure fun nestled in a hilariously dark premise . Trapped in an underground bunker by a cult leader for 15 years Kimmy Schmidt doesn't want the world to take pity on her and so moves to New York to start a new life away from the press.

Coming from 30 Rock creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, one of my favourite sitcoms, I was eager to check it out and Fey's usual style of humour is certainly in evidence from the opening scene.

Admittedly the jokes don’t always hit the mark but the rapid pace ensures there are plenty of laughs to be had throughout this first season and Ellie Kemper's joyously enthusiastic central performance always put a smile on my face.

Well, I liked it for a few seasons but I never really understood the great hype around it. most hasn already been said, but it was kinda "too sparkly and loud" for me to finish it.

Amazing, simply amazing. A truly original show with shiny colors and a gigantic heart. I loved every minute of it dearly. Its a comedy so the acting is over the top and lacks subtlety but that is to be expected.

This was surprisingly funny and enjoyable. I've always been picky about what comedy shows I watch, and was really happy when I found myself laughing at this. The show wouldn't been as good as it is without Tituss though.

Tituss Burgess is a truly dynamic supporting character, one who will be remembered a generation from now. In fact, most of the characters in this show work terrifically (with the exception of Kimmy's stepdad, whose only notable quality is that he's a terrible, boring person).
A great cast and a terrific script set this up for an even better second season.

Season 1 of Kimmy Schmidt does indeed have its laugh out loud moments, however at times Kimmy herself becomes too much like a late-season 30 Rock character. Overall the show goes deep to deliver stellar comedy gold.

Tina Fey is too good a writer to be this lazy. Simply spouting pop culture references where jokes are supposed to be is cheap, lazy and stupid comedy writing. She is so much better than this garbage.

TOOOO MUUUUUUCHH GAAAAYYY! Yep. I get it, being gay is a normal thing, and I agree it should be, but should half of the characters on this show be gay? Titus is one of my favorite T.V. characters of all time but I still think he is given too many scenes in most of the episodes.

This is easily the worst show I've ever viewed in my entire life. I may have laughed a total of one or two times. It was so painfully boring and not very creative at all. Just people saying random, outlandish things out of context. Do not watch this mindless show.

Do you miss The Office? Do you wish Gotham were an acceptable show? Well Netflix has a rickety skiff for you! This has some characters from the three shows I mentioned above all played by the same people except in a completely different scenario which will be ignored in favor of just continuing to deliver on this random set of characters you already know (and love?). If I were an actor I might start to feel like Kimmy Schmidt were the harbinger of doom for original roles as it tips the proportion of typecasting over traditionally acceptable levels, but I’m not, so it’s just cute and pretty funny (wait... is it?). Mostly cute. Even the intro has a kind of infectious energy. It’s a nice change from 30 Rock in this respect, as they have the exact same sense of humor but Kimmy isn’t played out yet and its comparative optimism makes 30 Rock look like a glowering teenager. Unless it starts trying to be something new, which is hard to picture since every part of it is plucked from the still-warm bodies littering your DVD collection, it will become extremely tired as it continues. The 30 Rock curse of overformulation and meaningless wit will eventually force it into dissolution, the actors no doubt going back to their cryotubes to await the next time two executives exchange the right combination of adjectives while tossing their word salad. Another fantastic show from Tina fey. The humor is in the style of 30 Rock, with a new dynamic centered around the new characters Tina dreamed up. The characters are also extremely one-sided and animated. I understand that's part of the effect they're going for, but honestly, every character annoys me to some extent, and they're all just really, really stupid. Maybe it's just my preference, but I think comedy is best when it exaggerates real life while still maintaining some level of believability. This show, however, relies too much on extreme caricatures of real people making inane decisions. I'm sure some people find that hilarious, but most of the time I think it's cringeworthy. Expand

If these sitcoms were still to be on NBC, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt would blend well with the crowd. Despite being made for NBC, this sitcom fits right for Netflix's original programming.

I must say that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is better than 30 Rock. Probably because Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has some backstory that would help the show tell a definite storyline and it utilizes its 13 episode order well to tell a concise story for its debut season.

The humor in this show is absurd yet witty and quirky. You can tell Tina Fey's humor is in this show and her work buddy Robert Carlock is helping Fey to make the humor consistent and funny.

The cast presence of Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess and Jane Krakowski were excellent. They owned their roles in a very special way especially from Kemper as Kimmy Schmidt and Burgess as Titus Andromedon.

Lastly, what makes this show great is the optimistic themes this show has. The backstory where Kimmy was stuck in the bunker for 15 years by a doomsday cult leader sounds really depressing on paper. But , Kimmy won't let her victim status be the highlight of her and despite everything she has gone through, she remains hopeful, cheerful and optimistic about her future in the world where she thought no longer exists along with her new gay best friend Titus despite how harsh and cruel the world is.

If you love absurd comedies that are witty and quirky, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the show you should watch right now thanks to its interesting storytelling, the cast presence of Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess and Jane Krakowski and its optimistic themes.

Titus Burgess is allowed to be a big personality, and yet show some heart in a role that could have been overdone, but isn't. Kemper doesn't just duplicate the gleeful, airy sweet-but dumb character she's perfected. She's got real range and fortunately is given really good material to chew. Her effervescence is genuine and infectious, and thankfully, Kimmy isn't just a goofy doormat. She lives the title, and it's funny through and through. But for me, the real surprise is Jane Krakowski, who I feared was to play the same character she's been in 30 Rock and various commercials. Alas, no....what starts as a formulaic character is given a chance within the first three episodes to actually grow and interact meaningfully with others, and Krakowski is dead on perfect in her role. It's a funny show, and a premise the writers can run with for miles. Expand

Creators Fey and Carlock instill Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with the infectious positivity of their title character, who won’t give up, no, she’ll never give up. Still, her hard knocks life starts taking its toll in later episodes, draining some of Kimmy’s ebullience and replacing it with a little petulance. The sunny side up Kimmy is much preferable.
