Every city has its hometown favorite. Tyler begins in Atlantic city, New Jersey where he learns how to make an Italian sub with all the fixings. He even learns how to correctly fold the sandwich so that the filling is neat and that the sub can fit in your mouth. Next, Tyler heads to Montauk, Long Island to an unassuming diner where the locals know to go for delicious lobster rolls. They use simple toasted hot dog rolls, and a simple filling with lobster, mayo, and celery. Then, Tyler heads across the ocean to hear about the origin of the sandwich directly from the living descendent of the Earl of Sandwich himself. He tells Tyler that the sandwich was born at an all-night poker game, where the Earl wanted meat placed between two pieces of bread so that he could eat with one hand while continuing to play. Finally, Tyler comes back home to his apartment in NYC to make his Ultimate sandwich. Tyler uses fresh bread, roasted turkey with herb butter, bacon, watercress, and avocado. Then, Tyler adds fontina cheese and flattens the sandwich using his trusty brick. Tyler then enjoys the crispy oozing roast turkey sandwich.
Every city has its hometown favorite and no matter what your idea is of the perfect sandwich, we have one for you! From New Jersey’s famous subs to the perfect lobster, Tyler takes you on a sandwich tour to remember. And meet the Earl of Sandwich.
