The show is based on the popular video game series of the same name, where drivers compete in a deadly demolition derby using vehicles armed with weapons and gadgets. The show follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a mysterious driver who joins the Twisted Metal tournament to win a chance to have his wish granted by the sinister Calypso (Michael Sheen). Along the way, he teams up with Robyn (Stephanie Beatriz), a rebellious mechanic who has her own reasons to enter the competition.

The show is a blast from start to finish, with amazing stunts, spectacular effects, and creative car designs. The show does not shy away from the violence and gore of the game, but also balances it with witty dialogue, hilarious moments, and surprising twists. The show also explores the backstory and motivation of each driver, giving them depth and personality.

The chemistry between Mackie and Beatriz is one of the highlights of the show. They have a great dynamic as they bicker, banter, and bond throughout their journey. Mackie brings charisma and charm to his role as John Doe, while Beatriz delivers sass and sarcasm as Robyn. They are both badass and likable, and you can't help but root for them.

Twisted Metal is a must-watch for fans of the game and anyone who enjoys a good action-comedy. It is one of the best video game adaptations ever made, and a refreshing addition to the genre. I give it a 10 out of 10 rating, and I can't wait for season 2.

This is better than most of the rubbish considered "modern entertainment". Give it a chance. Btw, Sweet Tooth, A+++

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you're looking for a horrible Death Race reboot this isn't it. Season 1 of Twisted Metal goes over the characters of the long-lasting Playstation car battle royale series. The main character John Doe gives off your everyman trying to make it finally in life after living a life of pain and loneliness. "Quiet" gives off your war-torn "badass" who's been through hell. The absolute highlight of the show is the pure craziness that is Sweet Tooth. In not making this a 500% serious gore fest and giving you backstory with corny comedy it brings the show to a broader audience. If you're looking for the premises of the game...the ending of Season 1 brings you towards that. Overall a great experience with some low points and a lot of funny high points. Expand

I remember playing this on the PS1, I think the last PS I had (might have gotten a 2), and loving it. It was simple, arcade fun. The show embraces that spirit. Reminds me of other post-apocalyptic shows, but with more humor. Anthony Mackie is perfectly cast. I'm having fun with it and they releases all the episodes as it should be.

No, it's not the most faithful adaptation of Twisted Metal and no, it's not wall-to-wall cart combat. But it's still a really fun show.

Still better than anything to come out to Netflix this year. Peacock IMO has more content and better licensing than overrated, overpriced, self-indulgent Netflix. Twisted Metal, unlike anything on Netflix, is actually a fun and enjoyable viewing.

Harold best character so far in the series with the clown sweet tooth and the looser of Outlaw.

Overall I really liked it. It's funny and violent. It's not the story I was expecting but I am totally ok with that if Season 2 delivers.

The pacing is just all off, and the show feels artificial and amateurish. I am however willing to give it a 7 because there are a ton of very well done scenes. There's no excuse for the messy direction, editing and writing though, especially at the start. But hey, what else is there? What other vehicle combat show is there competing with this one? None. So yeah it's fine I guess, I am entertained.

the show is actually very good, it's funny, LOVED all the main and secondary characters. which is crazy because i always hate at least somebody. loved the backstories. i totally wasn't expecting that since the trailers looked awful. yes, the show is probably very cheap and it is campy but it actually works, since the whole world went insane. also, hell yeah ball pit. also, hell yeah faith no more.

Played Twisted Metal on PS1 as a kid and am thrilled to see a solid live action adaptation. By seasons end I felt there had been plenty of vehicular combat, goofiness blended with creepiness, and easter eggs for longtime fans to have me excited for a second season. The dialogue suffers at times as they try to force jokes but then a rocket with a pink trail whizzes by and I remember whatPlayed Twisted Metal on PS1 as a kid and am thrilled to see a solid live action adaptation. Great show! It has the dark humor, great characters and overall feels like the games were back then. I’m looking forward for season 2.

Will Arnett is excellent as the psychopathic clown killer, Sweet Tooth. I do hope there's a second season.

I am a big fan of the original game from 90s, I was quite skeptical of this series given the terrible trailer but this series is fun as hell!
I watched the entire series in two sittings & now I want more!

This show surprised me, exceeded my expectations! I was expecting a really poor and weak production, but they managed to please me. Of course, they push the limits on some things, but, for me, that's expected from an adaptation of a game about cars destroying cars. I really enjoyed it and I hope they renew it for many seasons! I want to see Calypso!

I expected this to be awful, but was pleasantly surprised by the dark humor, adding a story to a show about a game with no story, the over the top violence, and top tier acting. Sweet Tooth was portrayed perfectly!

Is it Last of Us quality? No... but I was actually shocked at how well it was done and while the 1st and last episodes are easily the best episodes of this series and it's also helped by the infamous Sweet Tooth.

They did an amazing job. All the easter eggs, cameos.... everything. Also a lot of today's shows don't follow the original content ( i.e Witcher, Disney Remakes ). So tons of respect to the makers of the series for showing the respect to the OG content. Can't wait for more easter eggs and cameos! Also maybe a new game finally, since now Twisted Metal is in the spotlight again!

It all feels very brash and attention-seeking, like the TV equivalent of a lime-green hatchback doing late-night doughnuts in a supermarket car park. But, if you can tune in to Twisted Metal’s motormouth wavelength of childish exuberance, it is certainly a fun ride.

Twisted Metal the TV show is brought to the screen by the producers of the Deadpool movies starring Ryan Reynolds, and holds true to its pixelated predecessor’s manic qualities. .... Mackie and Beatriz have a matey chemistry and their characters’ cautious friendship gives the series its emotional core.

Its general mode of operating is to put in whatever seems cool and fun and silly and sick and leave out anything that does not meet those parameters. Yes to: guns, cars, sardonic needle drops, wisecracks, blood, sex, flash, grime, the sound of tires on pavement, shit that looks dope. No to: quietness, finicky world-building, thinking too hard about the limitations of the human body, complex motivations, depth, taking stuff too seriously, man.
