For an action/comedy it's largely unfunny and boring... and occasionally unpleasant.
I guess if you are a fan of the video game you might go for it. Of course it's not a game, so I guess you'd still find it dull.

Terrible tv show, after The Last Of Us showed us how good tv series based on videogames can be. Horrible jokes, the pacing is terrible, acting is horrible, its one of hte worst videogame adaptions ever. Should have not made this or got a creator who doesn't give a damn and goes all out crazy (Miike style moveis or like Starship Troopers).

Hope this gets cancelled and we don't get a

Absolute garbage, the people in charge must not have even heard of the games before coming up with this dumpster fire of a show.

Generic post-apocalyptic road trip story. Bad dialogue. Highly sentimental. Toneless backstories. Dull set pieces. Brutally slow. Buncha tropes masquerading as IP specific. No wonder writers fear AI.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In typical Hollywood fashion the show starts out strong then quickly transitions into a collection of filler soap opera episodes about a bunch of side characters nobody cares about. Twisted metal is supposed to be about cars, guns, and gore. It's not a love story. Don't waste your time. It's twisted metal meets Hollywood cookie cutter formula writing. Expand

Another video game franchise used to try and garner views without any consideration for the fans that made the series popular to begin with.

If you never played the games you'll probably enjoy it. For me, besides using iconic characters, this wasn't twisted metal. I won't give the second season a chance if it happens. I'm tired of people riding the coattails of popular IPs just to so

If you are looking for a faithful adaption of the Twisted Metal franchise, this isn't it. There is very little car combat, and most characters are unrecognizable compared to their in-game counterparts. The show does have some good ideas. When this show is trying to be its own show, it can work. But that begs the question of why didn't they just take those good ideas, and use them to make a completely original show? An original show that probably would've been much better than this adaption? If you're a Twisted Metal fan, you can skip this one. If you're not, and you want to see Zombieland meets Madmax, then you might enjoy it. But this show is clearly trying to be something that it's not. Expand

Watched the first two episodes, I may watch 2 more to see if it picks up but I am not a fan. Mackie proved very quickly he is not a leading man. The comedy often misses and the show relies far too heavily on it. Even with a relatively short run time of roughly 30 minutes, the episodes still feel needlessly long. The story and the characters are both boring, cliche, and predictable. ItWatched the first two episodes, I may watch 2 more to see if it picks up but I am not a fan. It all feels very brash and attention-seeking, like the TV equivalent of a lime-green hatchback doing late-night doughnuts in a supermarket car park. But, if you can tune in to Twisted Metal’s motormouth wavelength of childish exuberance, it is certainly a fun ride.

Twisted Metal the TV show is brought to the screen by the producers of the Deadpool movies starring Ryan Reynolds, and holds true to its pixelated predecessor’s manic qualities. .... Mackie and Beatriz have a matey chemistry and their characters’ cautious friendship gives the series its emotional core.

Its general mode of operating is to put in whatever seems cool and fun and silly and sick and leave out anything that does not meet those parameters. Yes to: guns, cars, sardonic needle drops, wisecracks, blood, sex, flash, grime, the sound of tires on pavement, shit that looks dope. No to: quietness, finicky world-building, thinking too hard about the limitations of the human body, complex motivations, depth, taking stuff too seriously, man.
