I hope it doesn't get renewed for a 3rd season. Expand

Too much wokeness in Season 2. Ruined an otherwise good show with historical misrepresentation and strong anti-white narratives. I felt dirty watching it. I would not recommend.

Season 2 suffered from a truly convoluted plot line that at times left me not caring anymore because it was so annoyingly and unnecessarily so. I did enjoy the performance(s) of Robert Sheehan whom I believe is like a fish out of water surrounded by all of these third rate actors. Particularly enjoyable was the part where he spoofs on just how silly and misguided the hippies truly were.

Now we get to season 3 .. it appears to have already become a parody of itself. The virtue signalling and idiotic dialog has you rolling your eyes from the very first dance out, after they "got served" by the now predominantly ,"intersectional","Sparrows" I have to admit that the off screen antics of Alien Page has ruined my ability to watch this series any longer. She is a terrible act-or-tress whatever, who truly is a viscous, desperately-seeking relevance and attention, virtue signalling FRAUD of a performer. Her talent in this series can be distilled down to her leaning her light bulb shaped head backwards while her gnome like body is being lifted off the ground while going,"Ggggrowl growl..grrrr" PAH-lease! Yawn! The best thing that's ever happened to her career is declaring herself Trans. Quel Surprise! Because declaring yourself a lesbian no longer has the same impact.. Now, it doesn't matter how much she sucks as a performer because she aligns her self with the ,"current thing" .. the newest sacred cow for our society. So HOLLYWOOD, pay attention! The off screen virtue signalling and collective political posturing of your players HAS REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES!! Pandering to the Chinese Communist Politically Correct Doctrine HAS IT'S CONSEQUENCES.

Then of course you get to season two, and the woke crowd starts taking over. Ellen Page goes from timid girl to super lesbian, much like real life, so now you got the whole LBG key q r s t v a w crowd really just driving you crazy and ruining the storyline. So much potential, ruined like Netflix always does! Expand

In general: 1/10 because plot is changed and mixed up, characters are changed, facts are changed, it's a tool of political propaganda, poorly written and really it's a waste of time. Differences between TV series and comics (yes comics are the source material here):
-Siblings powers are different in comics than they are in TV series.
-Klaus and Vanya are not LGBTQ in the comics, and Klaus actually has a baby - he is a father. - and Vanya ends up paralyzed, Luther and 5 are twins born to the same mother. There is no cult!
-Forget about Vietnam storyline - totally different in the comics.
-Plot of the season 1 is mix of Volume 1 and 2 comics.
-No the handler, swedes, Raymond, sissy and lila in the comics.

+ a lot more differences between comics and TVshow.

People, BUY COMIS TO SUPPORT ORIGINAL CREATORS and actually for the original story and actual fun and enjoyment. Peace!

I could not get past the first episode of this intensely repulsive tale that is wrong on so many levels. To be fair to the cast and the crew; they can't be blamed. Without a doubt all criticism should be leveled at the intensely poor writingI could not get past the first episode of this intensely repulsive tale that is wrong on so many levels. To be fair to the cast and the crew; they can't be blamed. Without a doubt all criticism should be leveled at the intensely poor writing that is at the core of almost all superhero stories but exceedingly surfaces in this one. There is not one genuine person in this, everyone is a direct shade of the cliched person. Basically they all have one defining trait. The rebellious one.The hero with a heart of gold. The moaner.
The whole is packaged as a soap. Were the relations between them are the attraction. On this level, as poorly as it is, there is nothing remarkable. It is been seen before... so many many times.

The real problem with this and many of their ilk is that the underlying worldview and impact of it is never addressed. At some level it might be; like that being all powerful does not mean you are all right. And that a superhero can be a danger as much as a boon.
But these are superficial problems.

Deeper than this is the message that there are special people who can be considered better people, not because of some special effort on their part, but because fate had endowed them with this. Oh yes, they might have their problems, but ultimately this is all offset by the fact that they are special.

But even deeper then this is that almost all superhero stories are vehicles for neo-liberalism or objectivism. There are the better people; who are a boon to society; those who make progress happen, and there are the detractors. The latter come in various shapes, but most commonly they are representatives of an oppressive, corrupt and incompetent collectivism, usually the state, but we can throw in any group that neoliberalists don't like because they limit the rich. As such the group of detractors have expanded overtime to include almost everyone besides the superheroes themselves. Superheroes like superman of old are on their way out. He did good not just good for doing good, but to help people, usually by having common people exclaim: it is superman, he is come to save us. That was good with an audience. Now, good means opposing those defined as bad, which has shifted from anyone who is morally bad to anyone who is considered as a detractor.

In all of this, the idea is reserved that the rich are good because they are rich. Their wealth and their superior morality not a means, but an natural result of their goodness. Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark and Charles Xavier are examples.
Of course, they started out like that because to do what they did, they needed the money, but now this message has been transformed form: the money allowed them to do good to; the money makes them good.

In this same vein the weak have been transformed into detractors. As much as superheroes are dealt a fair hand by fate, so others can be cursed by it But this uncomfortable truth is brushed aside by the claim that anyone can be rich! If you just try hard enough. Hence your own poverty is a failure purely of your own. The umbrella academy is another vehicle that tries to trickle this idea into society. Father might be a git, but he was a rich git. And like any rich git he could just buy up kids so as to see if they have special powers. If they have not, or apparently not like Vanya, then they are a failure. But this is a failure on a personal level. In the end of course she gets redeemed. He might not have seen it, but she has powers too. She is special people.

Do you think you are?

In 2h there is less content then in 20 min of "normal" film. And better do not compaer it with old school "20 min per episode" shows. Absolute waste of Your time.

Season 1 was amazing. Was glued to my seat the whole time. Then in seasons 2 and especially 3 the show became contrived and forced woke garbage with bad writing. I stopped watching at season 3 episode 2. Such a shame.
