Summary: Host Tom Snyder's guests are Judith Johnson, R.N., developer of the "I Can Cope" teaches cancer patients to control their lives by reducing anxiety and depression and removing mysteries of the disease itself. Snyder is joined in studio by author Kathryn Morgan Ryan who co-authored a cancer related book, "A Private Battle," with her husband Cornelius Ryan, who died after a long battle with cancer. Ryan comments on how she and her husband were shocked and angered to find out that Connie Ryan had cancer. She comments on her husband's coming to terms with his cancer and how he kept on doing things he normally would do. She comments on the visits to hospitals and doctors for tests and treatments. She mentions how her husband was working on one of his most famous books "A Bridge Too Far" while battling cancer and how he was dedicated to finish the book before dying. She comments on their marriage and how admirable his battle with cancer was. She discusses what motivated her and Connie to write the book "A Private Battle" and how they hope it would help other people cope with cancer. She comments on finding audio tapes Connie had secretly made about his battle with cancer and how she incorporated these tapes into the book posthumously. Snyder is joined live in studio by Linda Gingrich, a cancer survivor, who talks about her own personal battle with cancer. Johnson comments on the motivations to start the "I Can Cope" program.
