Looks like this may deviate from the source material, but the first 2 episodes were great. Will have to see how it holds up but I’m excited to have some very watchable sci-fi on Prime.

Having read the book, I can't understand this poor rating for the series. Maybe it's because I know more about the characters, so I appreciate seeing them more in these first two episodes than I would if I hadn't read about them and their backstories? Maybe because I know what's coming plot wise I'm more excited by what I've seen so far? I don't know. The book is one of Gibson's best in my opinion and rates very high in the world of sci fi ... so? Again, I don't get it. Maybe it's just the old book vs. media adaptation problem but I'm liking the series. I'll be interested to see if this rating changes over time. Expand

Look i'm srry but these low scores are pretty unjustified. I've only seen one episode so maybe they tank the idea and get woke later on in the series but from what i've seen this is a sleeper hit. I'm a bit surprised that nobody is talking about how tight the scripting is or how GODAMNED badass that robot fight was in the car? Like, do none of you know how hard that would of been toLook i'm srry but these low scores are pretty unjustified. Like, do none of you know how hard that would of been to choreograph let alone film? Although the subject matter is a little derivative the first episode get across complex ideas quickly and easily and the effects are top notch. Idk what you guys were watching but i'm more than a little excited for more. Expand

One of the best Sci-Fi shows I've seen lately. I hope Amazon Prime decides to make another season and spend more money on it bc it's worth it. As for the writers, directors & producers, you should move a little faster the pace of the show & dare more in representation, I know it's based on a novel but there's many main characters but not one is a gay man. If you're looking for something to watch, check it out. I'm sure you won't regret if you're a fan of Sci-fi futuristic/action/fantasy kind of show.

Series is not bad, interesting approach to "time travel", nice visuals, good world creation, decent acting.

The first season is interesting, but the ending is crumpled, they should have given it a few more episodes.

“The Peripheral” has nothing new to offer its target demo of sci-fi, action, and drama fans, but if more of the same is an itch that needs scratching, it will satiate the unadventurous viewer.

Bright spots in “The Peripheral” include excellent performances by Moretz and Eli Goree as Conner Penske. ... Unfortunately, these strengths, much like “Westworld’s,” are too often lost in a commitment to mysteries that crowds out coherence, mistaking the challenge of deciphering what’s happening for the joys of solving the puzzle of why.

“The Peripheral” feels like a mashup of sci-fi ideas put to better use elsewhere, from “Avatar” to “Free Guy,” with a lot in between. Mostly, other than the sometimes-striking set design, there’s nothing particularly distinctive about the villains or the scenario, which feels more convoluted than engaging.
