Suffice to say that it is a bravura rendition of Gibson’s tale, told with confidence by people I suspect will keep the plotting tight and the internal logic – whatever that may be – consistent. Those who can follow it at the deeper levels will no doubt find it immensely satisfying. The rest of us can enjoy the ride, and the distraction from the decidedly untightly plotted present. There are big ideas under the surface that The Peripheral can’t explore because of a greater investment in twisty plot, garbled jargon and complicated world-building. Still, there’s something to be said for a version of Westworld that is simpler and therefore less ambitious and less reliably frustrating. Read full review

“The Peripheral” feels like a mashup of sci-fi ideas put to better use elsewhere, from “Avatar” to “Free Guy,” with a lot in between. Look i'm srry but these low scores are pretty unjustified. I've only seen one episode so maybe they tank the idea and get woke later on in the series but from what i've seen this is a sleeper hit. Like, do none of you know how hard that would of been to choreograph let alone film? Although the subject matter is a little derivative the first episode get across complex ideas quickly and easily and the effects are top notch. Having read the book, I can't understand this poor rating for the series. Maybe it's because I know more about the characters, so I appreciate seeing them more in these first two episodes than I would if I hadn't read about them and their backstories? The book is one of Gibson's best in my opinion and rates very high in the world of sci fi ... so? Again, I don't get it. Interesting concept! I enjoyed watching the series, but it becomes somewhat confusing after awhile. Not the roles, but the storyline. I may watch a 2nd season, but not as interesting, or entertaining, as other new shows out there.

Pretty poor acting and a plot that is running off the cliff. I like the brother but the production is very odd. We'd rate it a "don't waste your time unless you particularly into this kind of TV."

Tiens, encore une série de chez Amacon… et devinez quoi ? c’est encore de la merde ! et pourtant cette étrange ambiance (et histoire si on peut appeler ce salmigondis « histoire »…) laissait augurer une étrangeté ‘cyber quelque chose… ‘ ou du moins de la SF pour le moins… dépaysante !Tiens, encore une série de chez Amacon… et devinez quoi ? c’est encore de la merde ! et pourtant cette étrange ambiance (et histoire si on peut appeler ce salmigondis « histoire »…) laissait augurer une étrangeté ‘cyber quelque chose… ‘ ou du moins de la SF pour le moins… dépaysante !

D’autant que la gracieuse Chloe Grace est dans le rôle principal… hélas, elle déçoit ici régulièrement, très régulièrement et ce, avec une constance particulièrement déprimante. C’est qu’à part son joli minois et sa jolie silhouette, eh bien… ils auraient aussi bien pu mettre n’importe qui à la place ! c’est dire si son rôle est plat et son interprétation… sans éclat.

Il faut dire que la série part très vite dans tous les sens et fait… vraiment n’importe quoi. On ne saurait de fait la qualifier puisqu’elle mélange le cyber à du monde parallèle et/ou virtuel ainsi qu’à du… voyage dans le temps ? avec bien entendu complots de base et machinations à deux balles à la clé. Quel foutoir et quelles foutaises là-dedans, dont on se fout totalement !

En outre, alors qui la série se prend les pieds dans le tapis et s’emmêle dans ses enjeux foireux, la lenteur générale, la mollesse, les clichés et le déjà vu achèveront de vous achever… sans compter (comme d’habitude dans les séries de chez Amacon) un agenda woke surchargé ! bref, c’est de la chiasssse !… Expand
