This is the show equivalent of game that is mostly just grind, with just a hint of gameplay. Many people are self-deluded due to the fan service at the end of the season, which is fine. However it does not override all the issues, especially the metric tonne of plot holes and broken canon. As a writer, when you have to answer "because the plot needs it to" when asked "why did that happen?", you need to take a step back and let someone else have a round with the keyboard. Expand

What little plot there is for this series moves at an absolute snails pace. I've never seen such a glacial series with so little happening. I've never seen such a glacial series with so little happening. At the start of Season 2 Episode 2 there is a recap of the first episode that lasts a minute. It includes the entire plot for the first almost hour long episode. The show is well made, but the producers seemingly forgot to write a script, and are stretching the flimsiest, smallest plot over the longest time and it is becoming tedious to watch. The second episode is half an hour, but feels like it drags on and on, a chase sequence copied straight from Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets lasts an entire 5 minutes and feels like an eternity.

The plot barely moved on in the first episode, and does not move on at all in the second episode, the entire episode was a complete waste of time, nothing has been learned or accomplished by the end of the episode.

At the moment the show is just riding on nostalgia and fan service, the only way it keeps interest is in giving flashbacks to the original Star Wars. Its nice seeing some of the background characters from the original trilogy re-appear, but its a one-trick pony that is getting worn out with having no plot to keep me interested. With such a complex, detailed world there is so much to explore and so many stories that could be told, but this series just chooses to be an empty spectacle rather than exploring the lore and delivering a compelling story. If the plot doesn't pick up in the next few episodes it will totally lose my interest.

I expected it to have multiple story threads and a lot going on, but its just a pretty but empty vessel for SW nostalgia.

Noticeable decline since the first season, aimless direction and weird padded sequences. A lot of treading water all around.

The Mandalorian is getting a bit hard to watch. A tosser side mission episode once in a while can be forgiven but four in a row?!? The acting is poor, the story is stalling hard and baby Yoda's cuteness factor isn't going to carry this show for much longer. Get on with it already.

I'm really starting to go off The Mandalorian, maybe it's because I'm not a massive Star Wars fan from the get-go but it all feels so samey. I feel like Star Wars has reached a point where it's afraid of innovation for fearing of upsetting or alienating long-time fans. However, this lack of innovation just makes the show feel so lacklustre. However, this lack of innovation just makes the show feel so lacklustre. The stakes don't feel high, the story is hardly complex etc. I often think it's quite hard to make a truly bad action film/show but it is very easy to make a mediocre/average show. The Mandalorian definitely falls into this latter category. It's the same old Star Wars if you like the films (particularly the originals) I'll guess you'll like this; if you're looking for something new or refreshing (for example how another Disney property in WandaVision is shaping up to be) then this won't stratch that itch. Insanely juvenile and lazy writing with zero stakes or compelling conflict.

Cheesy, bad physics, injuries don’t make any sense, story is boring, combat is terrible. There are watchable parts and the end of the season is alright but this show is massively overrated

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. They lost what made the show interesting in S1. Mando loses all agency in this season, most of the time is spent doing contrived side-quests and blindly following the ideas of a bunch of female (of course) mandalorians that call all the shots (funnt how they even lost the male mandalorian extra without explanation). While it was fun to see Luke Skywalker being himself again it was too little, too late. Won't be back for S3. Expand

Waiting for “The Mandalorian” to get better is like waiting for nostalgia to finally get old.

Far from resting on its laurels, though, if the balance of Season 2 can match the promise of this first episode, it's still easy to have a good feeling about this.

This first episode in the second season is a great example of how the series can work across scale—it can be intimate when it's two characters exchanging information in a vast open landscape, and it can also be massive with action scenes worthy of IMAX.
