BRILLIANT!!!! put Filoni and Favreau in charge of the star wars franchise for everything, they clearly understand star wars better than jj rj or evil kk ever could. perfect amount of old star wars stuff mixed with new. this i what filmakers need to learn should be roughly 70/30 old to new then slowly introduce new stuff...cant wait for episode 2 ...filoni favreau love you guys

So far, the tone they have set is excellent. You can really see the influences of Rogue One all throughout. As with most stories, they have to grab your attention right away if they want you to see it through. They have mine.

the series that was brought to life by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni is a master-class in Star Wars storytelling and Cinematography. The stylistic choices they employ in this show are not just there to pay homage, they are used because of their efficacy and to continue the tradition.

Got up at 6am to watch the first episode with other diehard SW fans. We thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed at all the right beats. The world building aspects is what impressed us the most. Obviously there were some pretty generic first episode scenes, but we absolutely are impatiently waiting for the next episode.

Great TV. A return to form and sanity for the Disney Company, after giving in to radical political race and sex baiting. Its a smooth running, great looking, Space Western that gives great fan service, introduces fun characters and makes sense. The Bounty Droid is a better actor than Daisy Ridley.

Hey Y'all. It's a Star Wars show. Its fun, fast paced, action packed, mysterious, and a little funny. It's capturing the glorious pulp serial magic that Star Wars was originally based on, but with the high budget treatment. Love it. Nostalgic elements for the mega fans without being cheeky or naval gazing.

    Solid 8/10.

I feel like i need to address the review bombing that this show is getting. The vast majority of reviews are positive which is great but there are some people giving the series a 0/10 for the dumbest reasons. What is a 0/10? There is not a single show that is a 0/10. a 0/10 show would be just a hour long black screen with white noise. It's ridiculous to give The Mandalorian a 0/10 just because you hate Disney era Star Wars. It's painfully obvious that these people wouldn't be happy no matter what they got.

Just glad to see that most people aren't blindly following the Disney hate and giving credit where credit is due.

What a great opening of a series, like a breath of fresh air. My Third favorite Star Wars movie was Rouge One, as it was, at least for me, more true to what Star Wars is than any of the prequels were or as of that time (and since) sequels have been. This first ep had a Rouge One vibe, and I was diggin it. I gotta good feeling about this.

A good start to the season so far. I really enjoy the western feel to it along with learning a little more about Mandolorian tribes.

Works well with its 30 minute run-time and the "made-for-TV" feeling helps cement this as the continuation of Western TV shows from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

It has plenty of action, little bits of humor here and there, but not so much that it takes away from the mysterious persona of the main character. It doesn't really give a good explanation of the metal and the significance of the armor. While I already have a pretty good understanding of the Mandalorians, most people probably won't. Episode 2 will give us a better feel for how the pacing of the entire series will go, but I like what I see so far.

Keep in mind there are going to be a large number of people so anti-Disney that they will never give this series an objective review. Most of the gatekeeper complaints are, as per usual, from so-called "fanboys" who seem to have lost touch with what Star Wars has always been. They want it to be dark, gritty, rated R. Ironically these will be the same fanboys that defend Lucas' more controversial decisions, yet one thing Lucas was always adamant about was Star Wars being primarily for kids. KIDS. Not teenagers, not YA, not 40 year-old angry neckbeards. KIDS.

I'm not a real Star Wars fan...but this is legit. It feels like the old trilogy. Some episodes are better than others but it is a good show overall. I will see season 2.

For example a character would die at the end of one episode and the first scene in the next one there would be a VERY funny scene. The show overall added some great thing to the lore and expanded upon other things in the lore as well. The way they use the force was so amazing. Also baby Yoda might be the greatest character ever created in the star wars universe.
Overall, If you are looking a Clint Eastwood western in space with a high budget, cool characters, engaging story and Baby Yoda this is the show for you

The character design and behavior seem very true to the previous star wars installments with a modern take so as to not seem overly pandering to original fans.

I'm rating this high not because it is anything better than the original movies, but because it captures the world of them so well. I'm not a star wars fan at all, but I had fun with the show. I'm not a star wars fan at all, but I had fun with the show. It is funny without needing to try in some moments, keeping levity to what is actually a pretty grim world without souring anything. It is the space spaghetti western you wished there was more of. Does that mean it has some stereotypes? Yes, infact the voice of the main character will make you want to see if Clint Eastwood's younger persona is hiding under the helmet.

I feel like they do a pretty good job with visual story telling over the tired trend of today's lazy writers who need their characters to explicitly tell you things. This also requires acting, and sadly one of the drawbacks of the show is that the main character is shrouded in helmeted obscurity. So physicality is even more important to his character.

It doesn't try to weave some massive grand narrative and it doesn't make the hero invincible, in fact, he gets his butt kicked pretty hard, and gets into dicey situations that require him to actually work at.

Sound effects in the jawa episode were....uh, surprisingly bad. I think they were going for comedy, but it just ruined things. Though overall it holds up.

I hope to see more of this show. I don't expect it to be god tier sci-fi, because star wars itself isn't really all that special in my opinion. But for what it is, this show meets the standards a star wars fan would want, and from the perspective of an action adventure, this show hits it off strong.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is pure Star Wars! If you get it you get it. This show cannot be compared to anything else because it is just Star Wars. I’ve talked to over 20 people about this show and everyone has loved it! This review bomb nonsense needs to stop. Does it have its faults, yes. Is it cheesy at times, yes. But that’s what SW is all about. It’s honest and it doesn’t care what you think. It’s unapologetically here for the fans! What it is not here for is the review bombers who probably illegally downloaded it and/or didn’t actually watch it at all. If you took the time to watch this you’d know it’s impossible for it to receive a 0 score. Heck, even 8 is too low on my opinion. This show is pure gold and I can’t wait to see where the show goes in the next couple years. Probably the series that ended the downward spiral for the Star Wars franchise. It created strong characters that you care for, relate to and want to know more of. It works because it follows the “Show not tell” rule. You get everything by his body language, voice and even hesitation in some situations. The show is much like Sergio Leones western where they speak not much but the scenery, mimic, expressions and pacing fills the gaps more than enough. Then there is the strong additional cast. Lets start with “Baby Yoda” who is named officially as the child but the first name sticks to the character and will be used. He is mostly practical effects by puppeteers and works amazing. Strong chemistry with the cast. Carl Weathers as leader of the bounty hunter guild is a master scoundrel, trickster and interesting character. IG-11 the bounty hunting droid steals the show and he won me over. Kuiil by Nick Nolte is another favorite. Great backstory, smart and a noble soul;“I have spoken”;-). With former rebel shock trooper Cara Dune played by Gina Carano we have a strong addition to the cast. She is smart, kicks as and will win you over easily. Bonus points for Emily Swallow as The Armorer, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon who you will love to hate and others I wont spoil. The story is pretty good and it gets better and better as new characters were introduced, you learn more backstories and the development / interactions start. It starts with the Mandalorian picking a special bounty hunt that is granted under the table. He did not know that this changes his life drastically. More I will not spoil. It is also the lore and world-building that improves the show. The Mandalorian codex (This is the way), the outskirts of the Star Wars galaxy that are mostly abandoned by law, the bounty hunters (and their guild) and the remains of the Empire are grabbing your attention. There are also underlying philosophical aspects that can be argued about. Good vs evil and shades of gray of this. Nature and nurture or parenting and family. The sets and special effects are also top notch and I think they did an excellent job. Overall this has hearth, soul, great characters and you always feel engaged and want more. Easily a 10/10 and I am hyped for season two. That is the way and I have spoken;-). Expand

Far from the most creative show I've seen but it does a good job of being a light and entertaining watch. It kinda reminds of the original Star Wars in that the story is not really complex and it doesn't go out of its way to avoid or subvert cliches. If you go in with this expectation you'll be disapointed but, as a casual watch, it's good.

The story is engaging to a degree but the special effects and action are where it really shines. I really liked how there is a good mix of both practical and CGI. They complement each other well and the makers use each very effectively. The action is also clear and well shot.

I also really like how it extends the Star Wars universe, the imagination is impressive and it feels like a lived-in world.

One other minor nitpick (aside from the plot) but I don't actually think Pedro Pascal puts in that great a performance. I know he dubbed some scenes but occasionally the Mandalorian's dialogue felt lifeless. I'm unsure if this was a specific choice as I normally quite like Pascal's acting. Either way, it was a little jarring at times and is an elemnt I'm not a huge fan of.

Its issues hew toward the fundamentals of direction, performance, and dialogue, more problems of basic filmmaking skill than miscalculated vision. Favreau started from a more specific, vivid place than in his jobs for Marvel or on Disney’s wretched Lion King remake. Unlike his nomadic antihero, however, he doesn’t take it much of anywhere.
