    Not sure why I even bothered, everything Disney has done with Star Wars has been a disappointment and this is no exception. Favreau is a journeyman director who brings nothing fresh to the table, and the plot is the same warmed-over "edgy hero who isn't actually edgy in fact he's a huge softie" that everyone saw coming from a mile away. Learn from my mistake and skip it

    Crappy generic story, borrows heavily from genre cliches just like everything else Disney does. Pascal is completely forgettable and the FX are painfully TV-grade. If this is what the execs are counting on to carry the banner once the movies end, they are in for a world of hurt

    This should be called, Texas Ranger, Space edition. It is riddled with stupid cowboy tropes and sad cameos of Carl Weathers and Werner Herzog here apparently for a pay check.
    Isn't it ironic how Disney wants to revive a Star Wars franchise that is, basically, a story of scattered resistance against a monopolistic empire.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Each episode has it's story ripped from a classic spaghetti western. The show feels hollow, mainly because the characters get no development (something to do with 30 minute episodes). Episode 4 was the worst thus far. A seen-before-many-times theme of a helpless village needing help from evil raiders. Even star-trek did this concept too many times. Why are TV/movie makers so afraid of writing something original?
    Everything is familiar. The Mandalorian is familiar. Yoda. Bounty Hunters. AT-STs. Stormtroopers. There is nothing original in this show. It's made for suckers who don't know they're being fed regurgitated nonsense and, of course, to sell a new range of toys. Disney are simply just too greedy.    … Expand

    I honestly don't understand the obsession. There's no acting, no dialogues, no twists, no camera work, nothing. The 3rd episode was the last one for me.

    I realize why many people like it, but I do not feel the same. It is lab-engineered to be liked, as long as you do not pay much attention and don't think about it. As soon as you do, it falls apart. It is like a drug laced garbage donut. It is cheap and worthless in it's essence, tailored to lull Star Wars fans in and relying on the massive disgust that many are feeling for the sequels forI realize why many people like it, but I do not feel the same.     The first episode or two showed some potential, but then this series fell flat on its face. Just goes to to show you that you can slap the Star Wars brand on anything, and people will lap it up, no matter how tired it is.

    Among the myriad of shortcomings, there are the following main turds points:

    - the main characters are wooden, boring, and horribly undeveloped
    - the acting is dull, lifeless, and corny
    - the bad guys are such incompetent weenies there is zero sense of tension; their ineptitude is supposed to be funny, but it’s just stupid
    - the famous actor cameos in each episode are distracting and the otherwise good actors are mired with weak, corny dialogue
    - our main character is supposed to come from this order of unprincipled, career bounty hunter/warriors, but he’s really just a soft wimp (who is not really a particularly skilled fighter) that doesn’t have a heart for hurting anyone, and yet somehow is able to dispatch countless bad guys, often without even hurting them.
    - his sidekick ex-shock trooper buddy is supposed to be believable as a great warrior basically because she has a lame 1990’s era armband tattoo.

    It was too gimmicky, too much cute baby Yoda, the episode that really killed it for me was the Seven Samurai knockoff, there was absolutely no inflection, pure knockoff. Mandalorians are supposed to be selfish and unattached, can't throw that out before it is even established. All around, a polished turd.

    They should call this The Tropealorian due to the complete unoriginality of every aspect of this production. Take just about any bland western and mix it up with every audio and visual cliche of the Star Wars Universe and put it in a blender and out comes the Mandalorian. Even the musical score seemed like it was borrowed with just a few notes changed here and there.     lame show... I guess they knew Boba Fett was already ruined as a character so they just invented a pointless new guy to wear his armor... the effects are crap and have neither the charm of the originals nor the flash of a big budget modern movie... Pascal can't act and is given nothing to work with anyway

After all the hype this is such a generic, pointless show that the nicest thing you can say about it is that it's a fifth rate cliche version of a few better shows.     Watched it, hated it, I'm sick of all the new Star Wars stuff that always seems to be begging you to believe it's as goood as the originals. Hard to think of anything more pointless than a series about not even Boba Fett, but just his armor (and not even his armor, but armor that juts looks like his). Will not-Fett kill the cute little alien pet he was sent to assassinate?     was really expecting more than this, it's just a stupid cowboys-in-space pastiche. Boring!

    The assassin robot was kinda neat but the 2 second scene from the trailer where's    was really expecting more than this, it's just a stupid cowboys-in-space pastiche.     Very well made. Beautifully shot, great cinematography but the storyline is severely lacking. All bliss no substance.

    Despite the TV series deal with a difficult world to manage (Star Wars dimension) it is not bad. But it was really really really bad for the production to break a story that could be told in a 2 hours film in 8 ridiculous 30-minute episodes. This ruined everything

    Baby Yoda is cute but that still doesn’t make this a good show. I did like the first episode but it went down hill from there, with only a few moments that brought it up a little at the end. “Cash grab” is the only way I can accurately describe it. I did like the Easter eggs and the attention to the lore, but most all the introductions and additions felt forced and unnatural. Overall, itBaby Yoda is cute but that still doesn’t make this a good show. I did like the first episode but it went down hill from there, with only a few moments that brought it up a little at the end. “Cash grab” is the only way I can accurately describe it. I did like the Easter eggs and the attention to the lore, but most all the introductions and additions felt forced and unnatural. Overall, it felt like a ploy to introduce more toys to sell. The dialogue feels like it was written by 12 year olds making a fan film. "There seems to be a lot of carbon scoring"... "We've got company" ... "I've got a bad feeling..." . The budget for this show rivals programs like "Stranger Things", or "West World", and while "Mando" VFX are usually quite good, there is no way in hell it's that far beyond what is seen on either of those other shows. So why is it that the writing, acting and directing are so low end?

    People should be embarrassed for liking this show. It's barely a step above getting excited about a JarJar Binks cartoon.    … Expand

    This feels like a Series created by a marketing team, not by actual writers and directors.
    They clearly put a lot of fancy Names in there to keep Fans happy, and i am pretty sure this will work out fine. But this series does not habe any Identity.

    They went all in with the empire is a bad joke and they tend to fail in everything they do. When you watch episode after episode how bad the empire gets beat in everything it takes a lot out of it. there's never any feeling that any of characters are even slightly in danger.

    The razor crest is a joke of a ship that needs constant repair which is also a joke since they basically repair it with a screwdriver most of the time. how is the ship space-worthy is a mystery.

    It's sad the Star Wars which have captured the hearts and minds of many has come to this low point. Why not improve on what's there? it's mystery why it needs to keep getting dumber and dumber.

    Disney needs to pay Sergio Leone for ripping off his westerns with this uninspired episode. It's the cliche ridden Clint Eastwood stranger but with landspeeders, aliens and carbonite-frozen criminals. For once I'd like to see Disney come up with an original idea instead of this safe, mediocre garbage.

    The creators don't even try. Besides lead project of Disney's platform looks very cheap and has series of 30 min. long and it's in 2020.

When an old and tired Boba Fett arrived I literally rolled my eyes and thought, so this is how they plan to carry this episode, by reminding us again that this is a franchise that we liked once.     Jusqu'au jour où il devient papa-poule et garde-chiourme d'un bébé à longues oreilles, un bébé extra-ordinaire et tellement mignon qu'on veut l'adopter sur-le-champ. Il est si "extra"-ordinaire qu'il nous rendrait bien service : peux-tu vider le lave-vaisselle, gamin ? et passer un coup d'aspi juste après, t'es gentil le gnome du logis ! Mais arrête de gober des crapauds, c'est dégueulasse !...

    Un brin taciturne mais le coeur sur la main, le Mandalorien est pourchassé par les méchants qui ne le lâchent pas d'une semelle... et puis c'est tout. Car le problème de cette série, c'est son absence totale d'intrigue et d'enjeux : entre le premier épisode et le dernier (le 8ème) de cette première saison, le schmilblick n'a pas avancé d'un poil de cul. Et encore.

    Bien sûr, la saison 2 se bougera peut-être un peu le fion à cet égard mais en attendant, on est gros Jean comme devant et pas motivé du tout. Et pourtant qu'il est mimi, le nabot verdâtre ! mais ça ne suffit pas, non, non. On s'ennuie donc souvent dans cette routine alors que le dernier épisode abuse carrément côté aberrations scénaristiques de scénariste (déjà ?) surmené. Tout ça pour en mettre plein la vue...

    Et on en prend plein la vue en tout cas, car Disney a raqué et casqué : les effets speciaux sont de toute beauté pour une série, c'est du beau travail à cet égard. Mais pour tout le reste (il retire jamais son casque, le casqué), c'est aussi superficiel et limité que ça en a l'air.    … Expand

    Where most of the films tie themselves in knots keeping up with the family travails of Skywalkers and Palpatines, The Mandalorian operates in relative solitude. ... Favreau keeps things just the right side of schmaltzy, while also creating a more textured universe than we are used to.

    Amid the fan service, there is plot too. .. A series that has started in relatively low key fashion but seems certain to leave everyone, and not just Star Wars ultra-diehards, wanting more.

    Its issues hew toward the fundamentals of direction, performance, and dialogue, more problems of basic filmmaking skill than miscalculated vision. Favreau started from a more specific, vivid place than in his jobs for Marvel or on Disney’s wretched Lion King remake. Unlike his nomadic antihero, however, he doesn’t take it much of anywhere.
