Passable and over used CGI. The characters are not recognizable from books I love so dearly. Bad writing and cringy dialog. Costume that stand out and looks cheap. This isn't Tolkien. It more like a generic fantasy then Tolkien high fantasy. There is so much lore breaking. If your a Tolkien fan. This isn't worth your time and you just end up angry

A série deveria ter sido lançada para o YouTube, eles nem deveriam ter gastado nada com Cgi ou atores, seria bem melhor se algum canal de sátiras tivesse feito a série, o nível é muito baixo, é decepcionante.

Hot garbage meets the CW. the show starts slow and stays that way, the characters are terrible, Galadriel is the most Mary Sue/ Karen that has been written, she is meme-worthy how shallow and stupid her story is. The show is just one bad story after another- I'm giving it a 2 for effects.... but this is not Tolkien in any way shape or form= terrible.

Fan fic level of writing, bad acting, short hair elves without any trace of their grace and ethereal, otherworldly aura. Complete mess to be honest. Had a hard time to sit through the whole first episode.

This surly isn’t a 0 or even a 1, it’s got some effort put into the cinematography, costumes and set design. Definitely no where near a 10, your just kidding yourself if you think this is perfect. It’s a boring, overly political mess. This feels like fanfiction, or another fantasy setting wearing the clothes of lord of the rings.

These people have financial incentives to give this garbage a positive review. The Dialogue, acting and casting is mind-bogglingly terrible for such a grand budget ($1bn last I checked). It looks like a group of college larpers were given a budget to re-enact some poorly written fan-fiction. The black elves/hobbits also take you completely out of the show since the only reason they are present is due to political ideology as well as corporate pandering.

It's impossible to see a black elf and not immediately see the corporate string pulling behind it, taking you completely out of the world every time he's on-screen. This is an abomination to Tolkein and to Jackson's LOTR trilogy. This series is to LOTR what modern art is to Da Vinci. A soulless, pretentious travesty.

The dialogue in particular is very bad, it's the type of crap you see boomer's share on facebook that 'sounds' deep on a surface level but it's actually genuinely meaningless drivel, taking up screen time.

There’s a true artistry to these visuals, like it has been meticulously storyboarded for years before a camera rolled and now we are seeing the fruits of that labor. I appreciate that level of calculation in a fantasy epic which paints in such broad strokes. This story is told visually, and with confidence. There are moments where less expensive shows would cut away but this one sticks with it and gives you the full sequence. That’s what elevates it— it feels like they had free reign to make every sequence as good as it could be, not just as good as they could afford. On the script side there are some great lines and moments in here. “The wind that seeks to blow out a candle can also stoke its flames.” [paraphrasing]. That and several other lines caught my ear as going above and beyond the call of duty for a television series into literary territory. The pacing oscillates between slow medium and fast throughout its runtime and that kept me on my toes. The slow parts can be a little slow and episode 2 in particular felt more like a TV show than the first episode but overall it maintains a good balance of series/movie hybrid. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Acting is exceptional thus far, especially Galandriel. There is something about this woman that draws my attention. Every character is well done and they all have something intriguing about them. The actors are well cast and I like what everyone is doing with their role.

I think considering the ambition of this project the creative team knocked it out of the park. This is high stakes filmmaking and it’s paying off so far.

The series took a sexist turn for the worst and instead of presenting us with the beautiful story Tolkien wrote about Galadriel, they decided that the only way for her to be powerful was to show her behaving like a stereotypical fantasy male.

The dialogue is awful, the pacing atrocious. The series feel rushed. While there are lots of eye candy it feels empty as an parking lot at 3 am.

Don't waste your time on this show. It's like creating music with the best sound quality ever, but the melody is just awful.

Shame this is fan fiction. The locations look good, unfortunately they have ruined the story.

The casting in this show is awful, not a single character stands out as being likeable. The story is just plain boring and doesn't leave you with any sense of dying to see the next episode. Really good show, good actors and the story is convincing and interesting. Shame people watch hateful youtube videos and review bomb the show for no reason, the world we live in...

Absolutely incredible production so far, first episode was good but the second was pure LOTR joy, can't wait to see where it goes

I loved it. It is visually stunning, and has great characters, and the potential to be an all time classic. Tolkien fanboys can go hide in their mummy's basement and write snarky posts about black elves and "lore'... the rest of us will enjoy a brilliant show.

Do i really need to explain myself? Just gonna say that this isnt a tolkien story, or in his style, or anything even close to that. Just a randon series with people trying to make it popular using his name. Its looks more like a hate towards tolkien's work and stories.

A bastardisation of Tolkien's work, laced with dire mis characterization and horrendous acting. Good visuals, but that's about it. A trainwreck for the ages.

I've never been a fan of Tolkien's universe, but after two episodes I'm downright enchanted by its beauty. Amazon has created a new class of quality in creating the series. I thought that the visuals couldn't beat Game of Thrones, but this series proves me wrong

Tolkien would have been furious at this adaptation and what they have done to his work. He was notoriously protective of his writing.

"I would ask them to make an effort of imagination sufficient to understand the irritation (and on occasion the resentment) of an author, who finds, increasingly as he proceeds, his work treated as it would seem carelessly in general, in places recklessly, and with no evident signs of any appreciation of what it is all about. [...] The canons of narrative an in any medium cannot be wholly different ; and the failure of poor films is often precisely in exaggeration, and in the intrusion of unwarranted matter owing to not perceiving where the core of the original lies." - Tolkien The dialogue in this show is the most offensive part of all. Please go read the books and try to imagine anyone in Tolkien's works speaking the way they do in the show.

If they are going to make up stories and characters, why are they relating this show to Tolkien instead of creating a new franchise?

Disregards all lore in such a way that I don’t think I’ve ever seen in an adaptation ever, changes are expected but this… this is destruction. The days of review bombing is so cringy.

I myself went to a pre screening event on the 31st and it was magnificent, I do have my nitpicks, but I went in with an open mind, deactivated Facebook for a while and just watched, and there isn't a series out there quite like this one. If you are on the fence, and aren't toxic sheep haters. Give it a go.

The most disappointing adaptation I have ever seen. It seems as if the show runners intentionally undermined Tolkien's work just to force their identity politics down the viewers throat. I just wish we could enjoy entertainment media without all this nonsense, especially when your job is to adapt an all time great writers work. Shame on you Amazon.

This show so far exemplifies everything wrong with modern entertainment. It invest everything in the superficial and neglects the soul. Along with the videogame graphics comes videogame soundtrack. now here is the real problem, the dialogue and character building in this is garbage, just haughty fake accents you expect from very low budget films. So if you like a bunch of teenagers LARPing then you are in luck. I liked no one in this except the Istari but he is mute at this point. his interaction with female-frodo is not bad. everyone else is Expand

I am pleasantly suprised!!! The first episodes are superb, good castig, epic battles, an a lush world! As a child i would have killed for a tv show like this which featured my fafourite books! But sure there are flaws, i hope that they will iron it out during the first season! But so far it doesnt deserve the hat it gets on the web!

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.

The Rings of Power is a reminder of what drew many of us to epic fantasy in the first place: wonder. ... This series set in an ancient realm displays one dazzling and painterly landscape after another. Power also doesn't skimp on action. [12 - 25 Sep 2022, p.10]
