Passable and over used CGI. The characters are not recognizable from books I love so dearly. Bad writing and cringy dialog. Costume that stand out and looks cheap. This isn't Tolkien. It more like a generic fantasy then Tolkien high fantasy. There is so much lore breaking. If your a Tolkien fan. This isn't worth your time and you just end up angry

A série deveria ter sido lançada para o YouTube, eles nem deveriam ter gastado nada com Cgi ou atores, seria bem melhor se algum canal de sátiras tivesse feito a série, o nível é muito baixo, é decepcionante.

Hot garbage meets the CW. the show starts slow and stays that way, the characters are terrible, Galadriel is the most Mary Sue/ Karen that has been written, she is meme-worthy how shallow and stupid her story is. The show is just one bad story after another- I'm giving it a 2 for effects.... but this is not Tolkien in any way shape or form= terrible.

Fan fic level of writing, bad acting, short hair elves without any trace of their grace and ethereal, otherworldly aura. Complete mess to be honest. Had a hard time to sit through the whole first episode.
Sad days for us Tolkien fans.

My girflriend and I were waiting for this show for so long, but after watching were in such bad mood, that we had a fight, my girlfriend left me, because of this trash. Really, politics? Jesus christ, so bad it destroyed Tolkiens work and my future ex wife.

This surly isn’t a 0 or even a 1, it’s got some effort put into the cinematography, costumes and set design. Definitely no where near a 10, your just kidding yourself if you think this is perfect. It’s a boring, overly political mess. This feels like fanfiction, or another fantasy setting wearing the clothes of lord of the rings.

    My overall verdict:
    - this is not Tolkien.
    - it's not Lord of the Rings. - This is a made-up world sick fantasy 2 directors who in place of trying to reproduce the screen world and events described by the original, they in turn have decided to simply under the famous brand name and the name of the great Tolkien, to shove their crap. Do not watch, better read the Silmarillion or watch

These people have financial incentives to give this garbage a positive review. The Dialogue, acting and casting is mind-bogglingly terrible for such a grand budget ($1bn last I checked). It looks like a group of college larpers were given a budget to re-enact some poorly written fan-fiction. The black elves/hobbits also take you completely out of the show since the only reason they are present is due to political ideology as well as corporate pandering.

It's impossible to see a black elf and not immediately see the corporate string pulling behind it, taking you completely out of the world every time he's on-screen. This is an abomination to Tolkein and to Jackson's LOTR trilogy. This series is to LOTR what modern art is to Da Vinci. A soulless, pretentious travesty.

The dialogue in particular is very bad, it's the type of crap you see boomer's share on facebook that 'sounds' deep on a surface level but it's actually genuinely meaningless drivel, taking up screen time.

In fact, there's something very Saruman-like about this show and the anti-Tolkien activists involved with it. The 2009 independent film Born of Hope does a much better job at adapting Tolkien and being true to his spirit and works than this turd does, so go watch that instead. Expand

Completely disrespectful to Tolkien's legacy. Full of woke and political propaganda that Peter Jackson would never have inputted into the show. Written and presented without any creative integrity. If you have any respect for the lore of Tolkien's work, don't even watch this.

I feel like this is a shameless attempt to tick diversity boxes. Sure the CGI looks good but not sure it’s worth the money they must have shelled out. Any thing with dwarves in looks good but that’s about it… honestly struggling to find positives. Just watch house of the dragon or the last kingdom instead.

As for the look, everything is very generic, with no personality or identity of its own, just large and extremely saturated places created, which on screen look very fake. Galadriel is without a doubt the worst character. The series creates a warrior galadriel, who is extremely forced. Galadriel is the "character that owns" all virtue, the perfect person, the perfect warrior, full of virtues, who feels superior to everyone, which honestly is extremely forced and unconvincing. Fan fiction is ok, but when it comes to Tolkien, I want to see an adaptation of actual events from actual Tolkien books. Not a single moment in these series can be found in the book. All of it completely made up. They had rich source material, but decided to write their own story, which obviously can't compete.

If they didn't use Tolkien character names, no one would even know it's Middle Earth. But then no one would watch it, so I guess they had to. It doesn't have Middle Earth feel. Looks like a generic fantasy fan fic.

I really had my hopes up, but the characters and story are so empty. Very disappointed as I really believed this was going to be decent. I can't believe the critics are generally in favour of the show. I mean it looks impressive, but everything is artificial.

The series is entertaining, the look is a little too slick for my taste. (-2P)
The story seems OK, deviating from the lore here and there, but that was to be expected. (-1P)
I find the whole negative vibe a pity. It feels like people are going in with an expectation that is Utopian, remember the Hobbit is in itself very weak filmed.

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
