Forget the story, Just having fun. But when season 5 opens with "Let's reveal a Lesbian lead character (why?), and let's show extra extra extra cleavage and let's empower all the unpowered chicks ... and the men just can't cut it and ..." we quit - the SJW messaging was rejected by the viewers carte blanche -- it all runs together like molasses without any cohesion with a semblance of reality and with a "social change message"... Dear Holly-weird just give us a break. #Australia-OUT!

I will reiterate that I loved the show as well as the setting which is that a deadly virus breaks out and eighty percent of the worlds population dies and that a cure has to be found and manufactured. The acting was spot on with a numerous amount of great actors including Rhona Mitra as Dr.Scott who was in the movie Doomsday and my favorite character Tex Nolan played by John Pyper-Ferguson. I also admired the script and the pace of Season One. I really enjoyed the drama build-up along with the blatant action scenes which were done wonderfully. I would recommend giving this show a try especially if you like Falling Skies. I would also like to state that you should give this show a chance don't watch the first episode and say screw it. I would watch at least 3 episodes and then decide and also the season finale for Season One is Epic and I personally am so stoked for Season Two to air on June 21st. Expand

While there are no real low points of the show, it also has a hard time completely taking off - that's a shame given that anyone can see flashes of an excellent TV series here. This had all the ingredients for a show I really didn't want to watch: Eric Dane chewing scenery, Rhona Mitra over/underacting (depending on how you look at it), a warship, Michael Bay... but, actually, it works.

I'm a bit of a fan of dystopian Sci-Fi and I didn't suspect this would tickle my 'when's the next episode' button, but it has. Usually Eric Dane's sonorous tones are enough

I'm a bit of a fan of dystopian Sci-Fi and I didn't suspect this would tickle my 'when's the next episode' button, but it has.

Usually Eric Dane's sonorous tones are enough to make me want to empty out the popcorn and use the bucket for something else and if I were honest, I do think he's miscast, but there's a host of decent supporting actors (surprisingly Alec Baldwin) that bring it on home.

The flaws in this series are legion, but it's escapist, lightweight, shoot-em-up and run-away-to-fight-another-day stuff - the kind I was reading when I was 12 - and as such, if you don't dwell too deeply and don't hold it to any sort of adherence to the laws of physics, you will be fine.

There is one technical decision they made that has been a plus - it could so easily have been a nuclear-powered ship, but making it dependent on oil has meant that there is always this nagging feeling about how long they can run before they need to resupply.

The plot has more red herrings than an East Anglia fishmarket, but it isn't hard to see where things are going, so its a comfortable level of distraction.

All in all, I was excited to see series 2, which is either a condemnation of the rest of the offerings or a surprising bolster to the credibility of The Last Ship as a vehicle to entertain.

Onle 130-mm shell and Burke become sitting duck. Now, she does not sink, but neighter sail on high seas. After that russian cruiser become only available ship, and there would be no american show ever. Despite it being called "The Last Ship", the show has a diverse array of settings and is not formulaic.

I'd say my strongest criticism is that it has a rocky start. The first episode was interesting, but the second episode was so generic and uninteresting I nearly stopped there. The series does create points in the plot where relative morality to a changing world becomes in question, but the characters just don't seem to care. If 85% of the world or whatever is killed by the plague, you would assume that the crew of the ship would put this into consideration. However, they do make this apparent in anyone not on the ship itself, so while annoying, it's not generically so. Also, some of the character motivations while complex, also seem lazy or simplified at times but in general the writing and directing is good enough for me not to mind.

Overall, while I personally enjoy it, there are several flaws in the series which I can see other people not being able to accept. Comparatively to other TV shows, it's mechanically well done, but the second episode especially may be too cringe-worthy for people to bare.
