Horrible. So we have a US destroyer sailing and operating in Canadian Northern Waters. Arrives in July and leaves 4 months later. The US has no Destroyer capable of operating in Artic waters even in summer ice conditions. And definitely not in Fall ice conditions. So next part we have a major air born Virus only this ship escapes due to its northern location. But every one on the planet gets sick, even those in Bio Protective stations. But they pull up next to a ship with dead sick people and are okay?

Now back to the destroyer. So now you have 5 Russian Helicopters flying in -50 weather *cough* and they manage to get that far. *boogle*

Now 3 of them fire 4 missiles at the destroyer. All of them unguided tube launched. But one goes after the chaff and heat launcher? Huh? They are unguided. And why did the close in defense systems not fire? And how did they let such large heavy slow hostile aircraft get that close? Inept?

Now 3 missiles hit the Destroyer 1 in the bridge 2 in the Phased Radar. These Destroyers have Light Aluminum skins. They are not designed to take direct missile strikes, this is not an armored Battle Ship.

We have 0 crew casualties.. and not even a scratch in the paint? Wow... that is one heck of a ship.

Nothing from a military stand point makes any sense, none of the plot makes sense.. none of the science makes sense. Its like they took a bunch of cool ideas tossed it into a blender and poured it into a glass. They figured all the cool things would make a cool drink... its pretty darn sour.

i stopped after the 2nd episode. its horrible, even the action is like a poor version of bay-movies (but 1 star for that). the story is stupid on every level (like scientific) and and also the telling is more a sequence of action or military scenes. to make things worse, its full of propaganda, from bad russians to terrorists, whose only purpose is to evil and then , of course, to bei stopped after the 2nd episode. its horrible, even the action is like a poor version of bay-movies (but 1 star for that). the story is stupid on every level (like scientific) and and also the telling is more a sequence of action or military scenes. to make things worse, its full of propaganda, from bad russians to terrorists, whose only purpose is to evil and then , of course, to be killed by the good american military. The show's concept is great but became unbearably painful to watch after Ep5. Now, I really cannot care less about these well trained military sailors who behave like a bunch of high school teenagers during the worst virus outbreak in the history. The show isn't that good. Nothing special about it. Very clichéd and poorly written. It's had some bright moments, but it's just general tv. I've given up on this show too.

The idea behind the show is great (haven't read the novel though) and i really wanted to like it, but episode 5 robbed me of my last bit of hope for this one.

I don't know anything about the naval realities so that wasn't the problem for me and for all i know the military part is realistic.
The dialogue is very poor and predictable including some cringeworthy one-liners especially in episode 5, the acting is ok but obviously limited by the script and maybe direction. The story in each episode has major logical fallacies while the overall story is intact (probably that's the faithful part of the novel).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What's a horrible screenplay! The original book was stupid, but more or less possible. But here; at first episode 3 direct hits from helicopters does not made a scraptch on Burke? But really. this show should be finished at epoisede 3, when russian admiral caught Burke in close range. Onle 130-mm shell and Burke become sitting duck. Now, she does not sink, but neighter sail on high seas. After that russian cruiser become only available ship, and there would be no american show ever. In the book russians could not hit destroyer, because they have nuclear submarine (so they have torpedoes and nukes, all to powerfull). But here. with armored battle cruiser against lonely Burke at close range? Expand

I hate that they signed for another season, because the plot has gotten very stupid now. I was excited to have a fun summer show that had a conclusion. I am not even sure where to start... who are the bad guys? Well think of every cliche possible and you will likely get it right. Evil Russians, and crazy far right Arabs and that is only in the first 3 episodes! The bad guys have about as much intelligence as a gerbil in heat, they chase the "good" Americans around the globe only to threaten to destroy them if they dont cooperate... what is the point? The entire thing doesnt make sense. If they are valuable enough to follow everywhere, you really think they will believe you when claim that you will blow them up when you could have done so easily at any point previously? Forget the story, Just having fun. But when season 5 opens with "Let's reveal a Lesbian lead character (why?), and let's show extra extra extra cleavage and let's empower all the unpowered chicks ... and the men just can't cut it and ..." we quit - the SJW messaging was rejected by the viewers carte blanche -- it all runs together like molasses without any cohesion with a semblance of reality and with a "social change message"...
