I loved the game. One of best games ever.
Show however…. First episode was great I was hyped to see next… but then it started to be mega boring. I am not giving 0 as I like characters, and main actors are doing good job. What is missing: theI loved the game. One of best games ever.

What is missing: the thrill and action. You don’t press play on a zombie, post apocalyptic movie to watch a whole episode of love story… and don’t get me wrong it was a good story just placed in wrong tv show. I would like to watch whole movie about it but when I click play on the last of us I want action and thrill in at least 50% of the episode.

I made it to episode 6 before dropping it. As it stands this show is a poor imitation of the video game, the voice actors of the original last of us did a MUCH better job with the characters then the actors for this show. Pedro Pascal looks the part as Joel but asking a hispanic man to do a texas accent was never going to be good. Bella Ramsey as Ellie sucks, they try to feed her lines from the game but she has no confidence in her delivery so it just sounds stilted and bad. Some of the action scenes are just dumb, in the sniper part a random hole just appears and infected pour out like its **** gears of war. I also wasn't a fan of the entire episode dedicated to Bills relationship, I get it, they are gay, the game didn't dedicate an entire level to it and yet this show wants to treat it as his defining character trait. Also race swapping Joel's daughter and Tommy's wife is just weird, one character I could understand but the entire cast? Come on.… Expand

Okay gays, but **** episode 7 is **** up. I imagined the hero from the outside, it was clear that he had a slack inside, this hero sympathized with me, but you understand that in the series she is 14 years old, and she is kissing a black woman, I am upset that you made a lesbian out of the hero. I loved episodes 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. I'm playing the game again and it's amazing how many things they let go and didn't include them in the series putting political agenda. Episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 very well done. Episodes 3 and 7 not so much. Cancel culture and others have waved unnecessary objectives into our faces and down our throats. The series, which I will say is very well done for the most part and it follows the game fairly well. The characters quietly work their way into your head and hearts as the world around them has fallen into decay and corruption by yet it captures your imagination and you catch yourself talking to, and asking your tv, a lot of questions or barking out directions as though it understands and is trying to comply.

The writers do not make everything blatantly obvious. You'll find yourself second guessing your own second guess and asking yourself 'what would I do' only to find out that what you were thinking of doing probably would have worked out for the worst. Then, there are other times when you can see what was coming and it happens and your left asking why they did it that way.

Seven episodes in and I give it a positive.… Expand

Every female and ethnic diversity quota person is portrayed as exceedingly wise, skilled and kind. Every bad guy is a white man. Even if we disregard all that, the setting itself is unconvincing. In the middle of an apocalypse, they seem to have endless supplies of new clothes and guns and electricity and... well, pretty much everything else. It's as if everything is normal except for a few zombies here and there. One old couple has been living in the middle of nowhere since decades, and yet everything in their house is brand spanking new. And guess what? They are fat as f#ck to boot! In the damned end of the world! How can two people even survive, let alone thrive in the wild alone? Without any help from the rest of the world? There is also a large settlement which is literally a small town in itself! Complete with all the luxuries of life!

And finally, the story is boooooring! There nothing new here. In fact it is somehow even more boring than your average zombie show because all the action and interesting bits have been removed in exchange for old men porn, sexualizing children, and the frequent forced woke preaching.

The creators of this show should be ashamed of themselves.… Expand

Episode six killed this show pushing kids to have (censored). Also, destroying Joel mentally in that episode is just foreshadowing them doing it physically. All roads lead to Abby Smash.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Episode 1 was great. The characters meshed. You cared for the characters and dreaded what you knew was coming with this type of show. E2 boring filler episode with back story building.
E3 - didn't like it, didn't watch it. E4 boring and stale. The story is thin. I mean really thin. Hell even season 3 of TWD was better and it seemed it dragged on for eternity. Episode 5 - good episode. Some boring parts, but seemed to pickup a bit. Episode 6 - Decent enough episode. Quite a few cringe moments that have nothing to do with the story and every thing to do with the Hollyweird's politics. Bit turn off Episode 7 - preview makes me think I'll skip it. The actors/ Characters are not skilled enough to carry the show alone. I mean does anyone feel Joel is Rick or even a John Snow type? He is in the game.. the girl is very unlikable. You couldn't do worst unless you recasted her as Fran Dresher - that might even be an upgrade. To all the review stating this is the best show ever, I have to question their honesty. The show looks good, if you mute out, and glance at it occasionally. The work as a whole, is only slightly better than a CW show.… Expand

I tried to watch this but it strays so far from the game it might as well be called not another zombie show. If you haven't played the game then I suppose you won't understand what an incredible story it is. This is not tlou.

I’m only up to ep 5 of the 1st season which is all you can get at this point. I have never played the game but I do play video games so I know of it. Jan 19 2023: As a fan of the original game I was very pleased that the first episode was very faithful to the original. Other than Sarah's skin color I feel they got all the important stuff right so far. Excellent casting choices so far. 10/10 for episode 1. Will update as new episodes come in.

Update after episode 3: Episode 2 was awesome and I think I liked it even more than the first episode, 10/10. Unfortunately episode 3 was a real stinker. If I wanted to watch a gay romance I would watch one. I thought I was watching a post apocalyptic survival show based on the video game. The only scenes in episode 3 that I enjoyed were the ones without Bill in it. If I weren't a big fan of the game I would've not been able to finish this episode. I support gays and lesbians I just have no interest in watching them. If I were watching a pop music show I'd be upset if all of a sudden an episode shows up that is mostly about rap. I'm so upset and I can't give this garbage episode anything more than a 1/10. That brings down my average score for this show to a 70. I still have hope the rest of the show will be good, keep Bill away please.

update after ep 4: The show fortunately went back on track. This one felt very short but it's my favorite so far we get a lot of great quality time between Joel and Ellie. An interesting villain appears and I hope we learn more about her in the next episode and how she got into her position. Something scary happens at the end but I can't spoil it, excited for the next episode. 10/10

update after episode 5: Incredible episode easily the best one so far in my opinion. There were a few minor changes but I actually like how the show did it better than the game. 10/10… Expand

It's always interesting and a little sad to see people fight inevitability. I'm 60, was raised anything but "woke," and I don't have a problem with this adaptation. For the record, I thought episode 3 was a masterpiece.

I have to admit that I'm a bit of a sucker for an Apocalyptic "End Of The Word" extravaganza, whether it's big budget Hollywood blockbusters or low budget Romeroesque think pieces. I'm not familiar with the video game that this was based on other than I'm aware of its existence. This television show is damn good. The slow burn first episode that introduces us to the fungal foe which will decimate the human population wasn't particularly anything I haven't seen before. However my hopes were elevated by the execution of the main character's daughter. They continue to be elevated as the episodes keep coming along. The human story is very real, and sure, some of the topics have seemingly upset the InCel/Conservative Right viewers who have nothing better to do than whinge and sook and cry (seemingly the same reviewers who also hate any Superhero who is female... Says a lot about the mentality of the Isolated Ego than anything else). I hope The Last Of Us can keep rocking the Status Quo, keep pushing the story forward, and not kowtow to the vocal minority whose have very little relevance.… Expand

El capítulo 3 es un .l. directo para los que conocemos la historia real, puedo entender que haya a quien le gustó porque apelaron a la lágrima fácil, pero dentro de su misma historia que quieren contar (completamente opuesta a la original en cosas como que a Ellie le duele la muerte de Tess y en este bodrio de serie dice directamente que no le importa y que no la culpe Joel o como que en el juego Frank abandona a Bill porque está harto de su paranoica forma de ser y por no querer salir de su ciudad y aquí pues... pasa lo que ya conocen, entre otras cosas que cambiaron) pasan cosas incoherentes como que si Bill está paranoico estaría vigilando todo el tiempo a Frank y no lo dejaría hablar con desconocidos por la radio o peor aún, invitarlos a comer... absolutamente ridículo, si este episodio no existiera no afecta en nada la historia, lo que lo convierte en un "episodio de relleno" en su más puro estado. Não assisti nenhum episódio, só do fato do idiota do Neil **** ainda estar na liderança da Naught dog já é um motivo bem plausível para ter nota baixa. The atmosphere and environment is almost identical with the game. The sound design is so good, I can hear baby crying and people shouting behind the wall. The Last of Us tricks you in the first episode as something that will have story quality, consistency, and smarts. But as you move from one episode to the other, you start to realize what kind of a show you really have on your hands.

Joel although played by Pedro Pascal who I don't like at all as an actor, he's been doing the best of what he's allowed to do. You won't get the Joel of the first TLOU game, but the one from the second game. This Joel although a former soldier, he handles guns with the skill of someone that just watched people using guns on TV.

This Joel lets Ellie boss him around and even control how every conversation goes. First game Joel was a hardened man that had closed his heart to feelings, and wasn't about doing reckless dumb things. Although flawed Ellie needed him, and eventually she learns from him and he learns from her.

That's what made The Last of Us special. It was the story that made the first game special.

Ellie is just insufferable. Who thought that Bella Ramsey had the acting skills to be Ellie, really missed the mark by miles. Ellie is arrogant, emotionless, reckless to the point she completely ignores Joel solid and wise advices, and she acts as if she doesn't really needs Joel.

Nico Parker that played Sarah should've been Ellie. Seeing Parker at least showed great father daughter chemistry with Pascal, and they seemed to click better in the kind of relationship that Joel and Ellie need to develop.

Visually its clear that they spared no expenses to show that world as it should he showed. But that's about the only good thing the show really has.

The second game was a disaster of a story and character development, and this show is obviously following that path.

This show will never be what The Walking Dead was. So if you're waiting for that to happen, save yourself a lot of time and move on to another show.

The Last of Us is a sinking ship, and with each episode it just sinks deeper and deeper.… Expand

As a gay dude, when I saw the Don't Tread On Me Flag, I thought, okay, now we've got a character that's going to subvert stereotypes and really bring things home as a badass. Instead, we got a joke of an episode that was plodding melodrama a la one of those daytime drama shows that women of a certain age are into. Nothing against their tastes, but this is the last kind of thing I expected from this previously great series, and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth, like I was being swindled, again. If I wanted to watch one of those cheesy melodramas, I would pick something other than what is supposed to be an HBO prestige piece. Just lame and predictable.… Expand

It's good. The first two episodes were especially faithful to the source material which was refreshing to see. Pascal does a great job as Joel (Ramsey less so as Ellie, but it's more than good enough). The atmosphere was captured so well,It's good. The atmosphere was captured so well, like the terror of escaping from their home in Texas to the despair of living in the Boston QZ. And the appearance and behavior of the clickers - very impressive. Episode 3 was a bit of an unexpected turn. To be honest, I found the story quite touching (albeit a little sappy) and well acted, as this part was not focused on in the game at all. If they were going to dedicate the vast majority of the episode to Bill and Frank's story, I would've preferred that they not have them fall in love within an hour of meeting each other. Given the way Bill's character is - a conservative survivalist and loner - why not show more of how Frank is able to soften his heart? Seems like a better use of time than the strawberry scene. The effect Frank had on Bill is obviously meant to reflect on how Ellie might change Joel, who himself is a hardened and unemotional man who doesn't trust anyone. Did the main plot need to be paused for this? Absolutely not. Bill and Frank died in the same episode they were introduced; they are not important despite the writers desperately wanting us to think so. If anything, leaving one of them alive to be able to speak to Joel in person may have left just as much of an impact. And so, despite being well crafted and sincere, there is a time and a place for everything. Dismissing any criticism of this episode as simple bigotry and homophobia is dishonest and ignorant. (Frank's character being a woman would not have made the length and pacing of this segment any less misplaced.) The mature thing to do would be to consider how taking a creative risk may not pay off to a sector of the audience. Deviating from the source material without improving the story in a significant way will often be unwelcomed. Then again, if the goal was to please the critics, whose credibility in the video game world is almost nonexistent, then mission accomplished. But to those who feel some allegiance to the source material and are desperately looking for a good video game to TV adaptation, there is understandable reason for concern. The legacy of a TV show is never set by professional critics, try as hard as they may. Overall I do recommend this show. It is restrained, faithful to the source for the most part, and rather well acted. It is certainly not a 0 and certainly not a 10. It is far from becoming a farce like the The Witcher, but nonetheless a reminder that video games often have more artistic merit than the TV shows adapted from them.… Expand

However, in the third episode, everything changed. The show introduced a new storyline that was completely at odds with the tone and feel of the first two episodes. It was a jarring shift that felt out of place and disconnected from the rest of the show. The characters that you had come to love were suddenly behaving in ways that made no sense, and the plot took a turn for the worse. The previously high-quality writing was replaced with poorly executed plot twists and forced drama, ruining the entire experience of the show.

You found yourself disappointed and frustrated as the show that you had once loved became unrecognizable. The once captivating world became dull and uninteresting, and you found yourself counting down the minutes until the episode was over. It was a disappointing turn of events, and you couldn't help but feel let down by the show. It was a prime example of how a bad storyline can completely ruin an otherwise excellent show. There are absolutely no homosexual moments in the game. Why, what right do you have to actually force people to watch such openly homosexual scenes? All people have different views, different religions, and if someone is interested in certain content, there are plenty of ways to choose the right movie. But the game is absolutely not about that. Why are you doing this? To observe international values, to promote propaganda here, to receive a TV award? You have no right to do this! For many people with different views, such homosexual content is simply not acceptable! If you even wanted to come up with additional plot branches with homosexuals, you could do it less openly, why should I watch it? We could just leave behind the scenes explicit scenes and show a hint that this couple is homosexual, lives together and that's it! You are violating people's rights! Try to understand how people with other religions and life values of the present family feel. Imagine if you were forced to watch, for example, a whole series of how animals are tortured, would you like it? For some people, what you have shown causes similar feelings. Shame!… Expand
