This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This episode runs into the same problem as episode 3. By themselves, they are both great episodes. However, both episodes took a full hour to tell stories that did next to nothing to advance the Joel and Ellie plot forward. It is frustrating watching them delete iconic sequences from the game, such as Ellie running away and the university sequences, so that we can spend multiple hours on episodes that do effectively nothing to advance the plot. The season is only nine episodes long. Two of those nine episodes can practically be skipped and you won't miss hardly anything. That's a problem. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This episode was the most faithful of the game. It had almost 100% fidelity, I liked the performance of the actresses. It was something magnificent every detail, environment, dialogues, scenarios, and even the detail of the mask that made the same. However, I repeat, this episode was the most faithful to the game. Love it so much. Perfect. Expand

Don't listen to the ignorant homophobic trolls who can't help but feel threatened by tales such as this. They'll come out when they're 60, completely rip apart the farce of a family they've lied to until then, regret their wasted lives, and finally fade away from society pining for what could have been. Maybe if they just took a moment to stop worrying about everyone else and just took a look at themselves they'd finally know how to enjoy their lives.

This show continues to go against the normal video game adaptation stigma and endlessly engages and surprises.

You're aTHIS HAPPENED IN THE GAME (more or less). I'm so sick of people trashing a good episode because they think the show has gone "woke" when Riley and Ellie's relationship is straight out of the DLC from The Last of Us game. We get it. You're a squeamish little girl and you have extremist political views that make you take offense at a PG relationship between two girls THAT IS LITERALLY IN THE SOURCE MATERIAL. Just go away and go watch G.I. Joe or something. ....

This episode touched on deeply ingrained human emotion and experiences. We all go through these things. It's another great one. The sets were absolutely astounding. Such a great job with the mall. Of course, I knew what was coming (and even those who haven't played the game's DLC ought to have known), which made my entire watch tinged with anxiety. But afterwards, when Riley gave her line about everyone going to the same place, but some just "get there faster," I realized that that same anxiety is haunting all of us, because we are all in the same boat as the characters. Enjoy the moments, but in the back of your mind you know what's eventually coming. So live deeper in that moment. That's what this episode brought, and the squeamish little girls attacked it just like episode 3.

This is about a 9 on the scale of 1 to 10. But unfortunately once more I must inflate the score to counter-balance the squeamish little girls who act like 1940s women when they see a mouse at the sight of GASP gay people. Smh. There is ONE down side to this episode: The fact that there's only two episodes left. Which means they are going to be rushing something to finish the story of game one, and I'm none too pleased about that. We've got huge moments that are supposed to be coming. How are they going to do David's gang, the trek to Salt Lake City, AND the finale in two episodes? "Well I guess we'll find out..."

Straight from the game, something most of the zero score reviews on here seem to forget blinded by politics and homophobia. My only criticism is that I felt it needed the present day sequences from the game of Ellie scavenging for supplies in the other mall. Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog did a much better job on their own in the story regard. This seems to be a running issue I have with the show, something I suspect is probably mostly Craig Maizin's doing, a bit too many changes here and there that very strongly supported the story in the game. Last week they changed the music in the bedroom scene, which.... really made it fall flat in my opinion. Still good though, it's just the plot changes and pacing I keep taking issue with so far. Like what the hell, out of 7 episodes we have 2 that shows non-hetero relationships. Eg. The majority of the show is heterosexual, why you all screaming. People want representation and the game had both Bill and Franks relationship AND Ellie and Riley’s. This is all CANON. About the episode, bittersweet. I am respecting the changes to story telling Mazin and Druckard are doing but I did miss some of the nuances as this story was told in the game. Still, fantastic episode and I’m excited to see how they deal with the last 2! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

En note j'avais mis : 1er => 9, 2nd => 8, 3e => 4, 4e => 6, 5e => 9, 6e => 7.
Donc je lui mettrais un 6 ou 7 (6.5 comme je pensais pour le 6e)... je pense que je mettrais un 7 pour ce 7e épisode

Storm Reid and Bella are fantastic..the set pieces brought me genuine joy, and bar one piece of jewellery not being used was the perfect homage to their part in the story...the problem lies as the dcl (which the episode is based on) showed two different time lines running parallel to each other, one present day and one in the past, as tv viewers we only see one, the flashback..the main story is interrupted and the passage of “real” time literally stops and we are left almost no further forward than when the opening credits role..in short the game did it better but as a fan was in awe of what we did get to see on the screen. Fantastic episode.

Almost beat for beat how events folded out in the game but in a much more relatable and real world way. Particular shout out to the real world locations and references.

It's interesting to read these reviews after reading the reviews of episode 3. So many people who claimed not to be homophobic and review bombed the episode because of the changes made to the narrative.

This episode, they have no such defence. Nowhere to conceal their homophobia and so the stock usage of 'woke propaganda' is being used. Woke? Propaganda? Are you aware of what either of those words mean let alone when used together? This is an authentic telling of a teenage romance in a horrendous post apocalyptic world. It's innocent, it is coming of age, it is entirely appropriate and essential to the story. Do any of these trolls actually believe that all this time, money and production value has gone into something so we can slip an LGBT story line under your noses? This isn't a wink wink gotcha moment that the queer community are celebrating as they get one over on the haters. It's a human story. Plain and simple.

This series continues to balance the nuanced emotional moments with the wrought with danger action sequences perfectly.

And the negative reviews for a lack of action? Go back and play the game and time how much of the game is 'action'. The game itself takes a humble pride in it's pace and story telling. I don't understand how anyone can be so riled up by such a true representation of teenage romance. Especially when it is so true to the video game that you all claim to adore so much.

I really loved it. And I'm happy to say that I equally love how they have adapted it to TV. Bella Ramsey and Storm Reid's performance is strong in every scene, the mall location is incredibly realised (the lighting is particularly gorgeous here), it all just works for me. Great television, crafted with care. It's the first 10/10 I am giving an episode of the show, this was beautifully done. Expand

This episode may seem a excessively boring, at times to some, who keep seeking for intense action and zombie sequences in the show.
But for me and most of the general audiences, this show is more of an emotional, once in a lifetime ride than a generic horror action TV show, just like the video game.

And this episode did that job almost perfectly. It took us on a rollercoaster of emotions. The quirky friendship of Ellie and Riley, the depth of their friendship, the things they were unaware of, the teenage adrenaline rush and the heartbreaking ending as always, everything was perfect. I have no complaints from this episode except that the episode definitely felt a little bit stretched out at times.
But the ending, once again, broke me and I'm sure it did the same with most of the first time watchers and passionate second time watchers. Overall, it was a pretty great backstory, which perfectly depicted whatever it needed to and it ended with one of the most heartbreaking endings in any TV show of recent times.

Final Thoughts:

Left Behind delivers the series’ most poignant episode yet, combining the perfect date with crackling performances from Bella Ramsay (Ellie) and Storm Reid (Riley) while sweetening the relationship with Joel despite Pedro’s reduced screen time. It’s faithful, focused, and, while I think the series has struggled to balance itself since episode 5’s bombastic finale, it delves deep into Ellie’s survivor’s guilt and yearning for connection and purpose. Ramsay delivers a rainbow of emotions, undeniably stealing the spotlight with snark, wit, and foul-mouthed innocence.

We’re heading for the endgame now and I have a feeling the last two episodes will be quite the ride.
