It feels too scripted, and it's frankly speaking, quite unfunny. A few giggles here and there, are ruined by the obviousness of the scripted comedy. The American test driver is a poor choice, as he is about as funny as a sad funeral. I heard talk about a really huge budget, but I wonder, where is that money spent?

Thank goodness this is on Amazon as it enables the ability to skip past the childish and inane studio segments. One would have assumed that the three would have lost the forced "canned" audience participation which can be assumed is a safety feature from executive production. Even Top Gear USA phased this out long ago and presented a show just about cars and the hosts. It is understandableThank goodness this is on Amazon as it enables the ability to skip past the childish and inane studio segments. One would have assumed that the three would have lost the forced "canned" audience participation which can be assumed is a safety feature from executive production. Even Top Gear USA phased this out long ago and presented a show just about cars and the hosts. It is understandable to add this scope of comfort but television has evolved form the original top gear these three reinvented back in 2002. The cars however are beautifully captured and a tribute to those who only dream of ownership, the perfect shots and staging of vehicles is maintained at the highest level seen on television today. Unfortunately the lack of ability to evolve from the 14 year old Top Gear Synopsis of forced studio entertainment is the shows biggest downfall. There is an overwhelming census of opinion as to the greatness and perfection of the polar expedition episode but unfortunately this magic has not been recaptured. This is the show for beautifully shot landscapes, roads and cars but it is no polar special. Expand

Perhaps entertaining if your 13 or American. A classic example of how our transatlantic cousins demonstrate that they never deserved to be more than a colony.

Jeremy Clarkson is a damned bully. Never liked him. But the old show was definitely better than this one. The Stig was cool, while the american driver is just terrible.

As overrated as it's fanbase is biased and stupid.
The show should've died with the disrespectful host.
    Not funny at all.

The new show is boring at best, and the guys are celebrating themselves. It feels like a few old blokes haven't realised that their time is over, and someone gave them enough cash so the reality hasn't sunk in yet.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s chemistry and on-camera talent can’t be denied. They are very good at what they do, and the show itself would be innocent fun for car buffs and reality fans alike. But the question The Grand Tour invites in, with its brash mockery of past controversy, is how comfortable you are watching arrogant, wealthy, white men traverse the globe in insanely expensive toys and behaving like 12-year-old boys.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s love for machinery--and what human machinery indicates, which is adventure and expansiveness--is still present, pure, and appealing, even with the shift in networks and formats. ... Its ethos is also wrapped up in Clarkson’s glee at having escaped punishment, and in his mockery of the Prius and the bicycle for not being devoted to consuming fossil fuels as quickly and loudly as possible. The show is an embodiment of the self-righteousness of wrongheadedness.
