The Flash Season 5 was very uneven. The season started well, the middle was boring to no end and the last 2 episodes were an amazing ending. The acting was average overall. All the twists about the main villains could have been more focused. Sherlock is a fun character. I give it a 70%. This season was weaker but totally redeem itself with the ending.

The new season is much better then #3 and #4. The "villain" is good, the dialogues are written much better, the acting is better (even from Candice Patton), the camera work is much better too. There is less "teen stupidity" in scenario and picture, at least in first 3 episodes.
PS I've noticed that in every scene with Jesse L. Martin he's sitting. Hope he is fine.

The Flash season 5 premiere was an enjoyable hour of my life. It wasn't perfect, and definitely not as good as the premieres of past seasons, but you know what, it was fun, and I hope the series stays this fun for the longevity of the season.

Liked this better than the last two seasons but not as much the first two.

This season felt more tonally consistent. It lacks the super lightness vs. darnkess of season 4 and the just darkness of season 3, making it feel more like how the show started. Rather liked the villain Cicada, who felt different than past villains. He sort of made things up as he went along and gave the filler

This season felt more tonally consistent. It lacks the super lightness vs. darnkess of season 4 and the just darkness of season 3, making it feel more like how the show started. Rather liked the villain Cicada, who felt different than past villains. He sort of made things up as he went along and gave the filler episodes, which I usually enjoyed, room to breathe. The Thinker's plan last season suffered from being spread too thin.

However, as with any season of the Flash, there are moments of loose plotting and characterization. There's a new supporting villain called Weather Witch. Her actress Reina Hardesty does a good job, but the character is so inconsistently written between episodes it's uber frustrating. I mean when you have multiple writers and 23 episodes, I can say how miscommunication between parties can cause the ball to drop. Here the differences are so blatant, you honestly can't see someone consciously signing off on them. It also seemed they were hinting toward doing something bigger with the Flash's Rogues, but that also felt like it was in flux.

There is a subplot involving Killer Frost's origins that I didn't felt really paid off.

I'm glad that they kept Ralph Dibney from last season. Unfortunately, he isn't as well utilized here. Though, he always manages to lighten up what scenes he's in. Tom Cavanagh again plays another guy from alternate dimension, a master French detective named Sherloque Wells. You'd think I'd get tired of this, but as always the actor does a really good job and the character is likable.

I was hit-and-miss with the newcomer Nora/XS (Candice Patton). At times she is super likable. At other times, she is so childish and naive that it is hard to believe she was old enough to have graduated college and landed a job in criminal forensics.

I can't say this quite landed the punch when this show was fresh, but I was still pretty entertained.

In the eyes of this critic, showrunner Todd Helbing and company have rediscovered what’s quintessentially The Flash. ... These folks have put together one of the strongest premieres this show has ever produced, and it’s guaranteed to leave people talking.
