Best SCI-FI show ever seen. Great books adaptation. But last seasons a little bit worse then first four seasons.

When good writing, acting and effects come together, you get a show like this.

The big name Sci-fi shows and films of yesteryear have been sold out and ruined. This gets back to the core. Good story telling. Characters that feel real, whoWhen good writing, acting and effects come together, you get a show like this.

The big name Sci-fi shows and films of yesteryear have been sold out and ruined. This gets back to the core. Good story telling. Characters that feel real, who are flawed but actually try. Drama is not manufactured like a clique of 14 year old girls like some things have been in the past(looking at YOU stargate universe).

Everyone has goals, and things aren't perfectly clear. I often went back and forth between liking and disliking some characters. That is hard to do.

There are moments where sometimes the show can get frustrated as many plot lines get inched along. However once enough of them converge the pace picks right back up.

At it's core this show is actually about the fate of humanity, with a focus on the reality that everyone really just wants to live their own life, focus on it, and cherish and hopefully grow something resembling a meaningful and happy life. Some people are looking for purpose, others redemption, a lost loved one, or to heal. Others are motivated by ambition, avarice and the future, with grandiose ideas that lead them astray for the greater good. It is so enthralling.

This is a must watch for any fan of science fiction.… Expand

If you like sci-fi then you will probably like this show. The production is excellent. SyFy channel dropped the show after season 3, but Amazon picked it up after a lot of fan support.

Worth watching even just to see that you don't need time-travel, artificial gravity and lasers for a good story.

The Expanse is absolutely everything. It is very very smart and gritty. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 4 Review: Up until season 4, Expanse was the best sci-fi series on television (definite 10). This last season they took what was an immersive galactic masterpiece and turned it into an extended Star Trek-style away mission. The threat of the ominous yet portentous protomolecule were replaced with green space slugs and eye gunk. Complex/omnipotent antagonists Jules Pierre Mao and Sadavir Errin Wright make way for a sadistic claims jumper. Worst of all, they turn the best character, Crisjen Avasarala, into a parody of herself as an Andrew Dice Clay knockoff. I used to relish her scenes, the occasional well-timed emphatic curse word sending shivers down my spine. Now, I get shudders as she drops F-bombs in every sentence in a manner that would make a sailor blush. Add in the smarmy, poor man's Dr. Phil as the replacement actor for her husband, and it's a difficult slog. Not sure if it's the same writers or they ran out of source material, but major disappointment.… Expand

This is by far one of the most memorable and well made Sci- Fi shows out there. I would recommend watching it to anyone. The CGI and the Actors are amazing, the setting interesting, the plot, while at times a bit "unrealistic", is also alright.

It's the best sci-fi series. It's even better than classic battlestar galactica series which was my favourite for a long time. The details in this are exceptional. I recommend this to everyone who loves a good sci-fi.

The Expanse is an engaging show at times if you are able to overcome some terrible acting and extremely slow buildup. The biggest problem is for every 8 out of 10 moment in an episode where you go "Wow this is cool" it follows it up with a 2 out of 10 "WTF am I watching?" moment. Two of the main cast (Strait and Tipper) can't act at all and their interaction throughout the series made me want to puke in my mouth and skip through that part of the episode. Meanwhile Thomas Jane does a tremendous job as Miller and carries the show throughout the first and second season but he is done dirty by the show's creators by the end. There are a lot of good storylines that are going on throughout the show by secondary characters but unfortunately you are constantly thrown back to slogging it with the main cast who are far less interesting and constantly tripping over themselves.… Expand

I really enjoy this series and was glad that Amazon saw the potential to keep it going. They do more then any series before it to stick to the real world physics of being in space while still keeping the science fiction interesting. The world building takes some time and the political sides can take a bit of time to weed through, but it was excellently cast and subsequently very well acted. OK, this used to be a great space sci-fi show but season 4 is absolute hot garbage. They spend 10% of the time in space/ships and the rest of the the show thus far (up to episode 3) is a crime drama set on earth/mars solving irrelevant mysteries, connecting with family we don't care about, and watching very terrible forced drama for characters with bad acting. Season 4 is exceedingly boring and looks like it's on a downward trajectory. The good news is that the show has far exceeded their diversity quota with 90% of the cast now Black and/or female so that pretty much makes up for the piss poor writing and space battles. The white males on the show except 1 are pretty much villans or a-holes so we've gone with the full StarWars final trilogy/Star Trek: Discovery formula here.… Expand

Quite possibly the best sci-fi series i've ever seen, and in serious contention for best overall series.

I really loved this show when it started. I have not read the novels, but seasons one through three were a lot of fun. Seasons four and especially five were a big “meh.” Season six is not looking promising but who knows it’s still early.I really loved this show when it started. They need more air time with Holden and Amos. Naomi’s storyline is played out and Marco is a cartoon villain. Why are we spending half an episode on her son? Nonsense.

Amos was the most interesting character on the show and he just kind of stopped. It’s going to be a big let down if they don’t properly finish his arc.… Expand

The best "hard" scifi shows ever made. The Belters are a faction that I love and totally relate too. The writing is great and so is the acting. I love season 2 but season 4 is also amazing! I can't wait for season 5!

Not many sci-fi tv-series are this good, and season 4 cemented the quality even more. Actors upped their game and it feels that Amazon did put heir budget into good hands.

Flawless pacing and plot for season 4. So glad Amazon decided to pick the show up before it was forgotten forever. I'm not american enough to tolerate this kind of censorship in an ultra violent show. This is beyond ridiculous.
I'm not watching TV shows for some nudity, but if you have to censor nudity, you shouldn't have put it in the first place. I have no problems with shows, movies or video games with no nudity I watch lot of them, but censorship break my immersion by screaming "puritanism" right at my face.… Expand

I was told that it's a great TV show, a bit slow, but would get better and to not give up… So I started watching it and episodes were very dull. I was dragging with it. So shallow, so dull, so boring... None of the characters seem to be interesting. Same can be said about plot. Episodes were so dull that I was almost falling asleep. They were so uninteresting that I didn't even remember them. Production seemed cheap too with the same locations… It felt like that whole show was shot in one room.

I tried to not give up, I tried it hard and made it to whole one season, but now I'm giving up to continue watching this crap show & I regret that I wasted my precious time on it. And I'm not one of those people who dislike SCI-FI. I liked Prometheus a lot, I liked Alien a lot and I like some good SCI-FI movies, but this TV show isn't definitely of them.… Expand

I liked it enough to watch all 4 seasons but I'm not sure if I'd be down for another, it's cool hard sci-fi action with an original concept but the subplots are becoming a drag.

This is sci-fy at its finest. Honestly i was a little discourage at first because there is a bunch of things (also politicals) to digest, but it was worth it!! It was since Battlestar Galactica that i was waiting for something like this!

The torch of outstanding 'realistic' sci-fi has been passed from Firefly to BSG and now to The Expanse. No other sci-fi on TV comes even remotely close to matching it. Best sci-fi show ever. Closest thing on television like mass effect. Every season has been a joy ride with continuous surprises. Only reason I don't give it a 10 is that I am not fond of the spiritual aspect.

What a masters series people. Rich, diverse, solid and highly entertaining. It captured me from the first episode to the last and left me longing for more. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. THIS is good Sci-Fi. Overall, outstanding development and delivery, and (so far) a very open ended story with a universe of potential. A few bumpy moments here and there that may leave you impersonating the RCA puppy, but they never last, and (usually) make sense later on (or on a re-watch).

My one point draw down was for an agreement with another opinion on a certain female characters development track, which I felt took a slight detour through a slum bar on hobo pirate night. If we can avoid that nav system in the future and get his character back on track, you just might earn back that point.… Expand

Chronic terrible pacing makes it hard to feel invested in the story or the characters. Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, and Cas Anvar deliver stand out performances in a series where the bad casting decisions spoil the good ones.

it's hard to find a better adaptation of a series of books. The characters are gritty, they have a relatable arc, are very well constructed and outside of minor quirks, it's a fantastic production.
