Oct 16, 2018This was not what i was expecting , The Conners show was dark , depressing , and not funny at all , what ashame what ABC did to the Roseanne show ,they are trying to ride on the coat tails of Roseanne ,I give it a couple weeks and it will be OFF the air ,

Oct 16, 2018Terrible. Total waste of time. I don't even understand why Roseanne wasn't on the show. I thought the show was about her.

Nov 8, 2018Horrible, Just horrible. As a fan of the original Roseanne series, it just isn't the same without her in the show. She is what brought the laughter. I don't see this renewing for a second season, but I could be wrong.

Nov 1, 2018This is a horrible show!!!! It was called Roseanne for a reason. The acting is horrible and Darlene and Jackie CANNOT carry this show. They should never have fired her. HUGE mistake!!
I tried because I loved the original show and the reboot of Roseanne but I will not waste time with this show again. -
Nov 11, 2018The Conners first two programs were well done00well written and well--acted. The third was a bit of a dud. It is hard to tell whether the writers will manage to propel the series forward toward a show with its own identity sans Roseanne Barr.
I note some politically motivated reviews here that seek to degrade the show because the authors support Barr's racist messages. Truly pathetic! -
Oct 17, 2018Shame on the ABC network, politically disappearing Roseanne from her own show because of her racially overblown tweet. It would've been nice if the rest of the cast had of supported her... maybe just a little bit. And then continuing the series without her. It's like watching Batman with a bunch of Robins. No thanks!

Mar 23, 2019Poor sidekicks show. Not even close to Rosanne especially episodes before reboot .
-
Oct 17, 2018I just didn't find it very entertaining. We'll see how the next few episodes progress, but at this point, I don't see this show lasting.

Oct 17, 2018Show is appreciably worse without Rosanne. That was a foolish mistake to not accept her apology and keep her on HER show. I'm sure it'll flame out within a half season.
-
Oct 18, 2018Never big fan of a Roseanne. But here i gave them a shot and i was positively surprised. Its like watching a new show (forget rossie) with a new level of bitterness and jokes. Now everyone is a "star" (not a background to a loud **** cow). I like the atmosphere they went to and i really like it now (for me its not a reboot restart thing-its a new show and i forget the past)

Oct 16, 2018Worst show I've seen in my entire life. Why would they do this. What a ridiculous and insulting premise.

Oct 19, 2018Episode 1: Roseanne funeral. Tribute given. Show over. Thank you, have a good life, "The Conners".

Oct 18, 2018The premiere episode felt more close to the original Roseanne series in tone, humor and pathos since the original series. Bravo to the extraordinary cast and writers. Roseanne who? Already forgotten.
-
Oct 18, 2018Simply Awful.
Every joke falls flat, and it seems like they are either trying too hard or not at all, leading to a general sense of awkwardness in every scene. And, no respect for the woman who got them where they are. -

Oct 20, 2018Great show made me laugh and cry throughout the first apieosde and accurately describes a family in grieving when you lose someone important, especially as important as Roseanne. I'd like to see where ths family goes and the direction they are headed to now that their matriarch and the person they always looked to for advice is now gone.
-
Oct 21, 2018I don't care if the show features Rosanne or not as long as it makes me laugh and feel like a member of the family and that's just what the episode this past week did it was perfect hilarious and heartfelt I really dont get the difference myself

Oct 17, 2018I was skeptical of this show when I heard about it, but after watching it last night I have to admit, it was actually pretty good.

Oct 16, 2018Brilliant. We are able to see the talented cast shine. I was not sure what to expect, but the show is written and produced by a stellar crew, and they were able to deliver.
-
Nov 1, 2018After the first couple seasons of Roseanne, Roseanne herself became the weakest link, a drag on the very talented surrounding cast. Now everyone else can step out from behind Roseanne's obese shadow and really shine. Great show! Much improved.
-
Nov 2, 2018So far I've only watched 2 shows and it seems to be holding up. The strength of the show was always the writing and the ensemble cast. Mostly the writing, look what happened to the show the last few seasons of the 1st run when it was awful with awful writing.

Oct 31, 2018I'm trying so hard to like this show, but I'm really struggling with it. The punchy humor just isn't there, and what is there seems forced. It's just not the same. Before, I would never miss an episode of Roseanne. I've even watched the old reruns, some of them 10 times or more and they're still hilarious, and with The Conners, I could care less if I missed an episode or not. Not very impressed.

The result is a very interesting little sitcom, where what’s happening backstage reflects what’s happening on camera. It’s mostly about loss; for Dan, Darlene, and Jackie, it’s become about the redefinition of their roles in the Conner family. The setting snaps so familiarly into place that it’s like a time capsule.
-
The lovingly biting tone of the working-class comedy remains much the same. [29 Oct - 11 Nov 2018, p.11]

None of them has ever carried a series before, and as good as they were in The Conners debut, the glue that held the show together was the unseen ghost of Roseanne, as aggravating and amusing as ever, invisible but never absent. I'll believe she's replaceable when I see it.
