In 1993, Canadian television berthed two environmentally-conscious series for children. One was Groundling Marsh on YTV. The other was The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, which began on TVO. Dudley's environmental education stripe was on a more abrasive side than other programs.

The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon aired on TVO 1993-95. Episodes of these seasons are given in TVO running order. The series switched to YTV for 1996-97. Today The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon airs on SCN weekdays at 9:30 A.M. Saskatchewan time.

The American exposure to The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon was more sporadic. Tampa's WEDU delivered the show to PBS affiliates in 1995, and the show didn't work in some markets. Cleveland's WVIZ (as it was then called) canceled The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon after just seven weeks because viewers didn't like its contents (the station would grant a reprieve to the show the next year, giving Dudley a 6 A.M. ET time slot). But WEDU nursed and cared for Dudley. Along with WYBE in Philadelphia, WEDU stayed with Dudley until its American broadcast rights expired December 31, 1999.… Expand
