I love this series, it’s fun and I find it very funny. The characters are all likeable. The humour is a bit quirky, which I like.

I also like that it doesn't try too hard to be like The Office, despite having the same producer. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall, this is a fairly decent show. The first season starts out fine enough and if you enjoy quirky characters, some over the top moments, the show has a good-sized heart. The ensemble is pretty endearing with the typical two characters who keep circling around each other, the will-they-won't-they fodder. These two, namely Amy and Jonah (Ferrara and Feldman) are fairly bland. But doesn't matter: there's Dina, the female Cartman of the group (played by Lauren Ash, who takes her character to the nth degree) and Garret (Dunn) whose sarcasm and snide humor bring on chuckles. Sakura's Cheyenne, a teen working at the store, is so fun to watch as she brings so much sincere naivety to her role. With these main four and of course, Mark McKinney's Glenn, the high-pitched voiced manager, it was a pleasure to watch. I had some fantastic laugh out loud moments. There is some great absurd stuff here. The only problem is that the writers... well... they like to get into political brow-beating. It is noticeable early on... but forgivable. Easy to ignore. But the lefty crap starts to get worse by the fourth season (and the end of the season... lord...), and in the fifth it is annoying if not embarrassing. In fact, if you're interested in giving it a watch, I would quit after the fourth season because the fifth is where it lost me. Not just shoving the 'message' down the viewers throats, but the characters, in fact, get stupider and become worse versions of themselves. If only writers would focus more on making characters redeemable and three-dimensional instead of bullhorns for the latest agenda driven bullcrap. I can recommend it, but again, seasons 1 to 4. Superstore has is not a perfect show. But it makes up for it with characters the audience will become invested in. If you have worked a minimum wage dead-end retail job that you are somehow inexplicably nostalgic for, you will enjoy Superstore.

Piercingly relatable and heartwarming by turns. Brilliant cast. Often topical, never preachy. Tempting to compare, favorably, with The Office (American). An absolute triumph.
