    This is not a show just about the adventures of the illustrious Jedi; it's a cautionary tale and a tragic one. It touches on some of the best stories to come from the animated Star Wars shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

    The overall result, as overseen by Dave Filoni, is surprising and strong. Tales of the Jedi succeeds by saying exactly what it means to and then making its exit, sure to have viewers ready for more. Whether it’s ultimately a one-off season or the start of something greater, it’s worth Star Wars fans’ time to check it out.

    A fun and worthwhile trip to the galaxy far, far away. The Dooku stories will be especially satisfying for Clone Wars fans, and Ahsoka remains a delight.

    While the stories themselves are pretty fully told in their 11-15 minute runtimes, it’s definitely to the viewer’s advantage to watch all six episodes to get the full picture. ... Tales Of The Jedi brings some familiar prequel trilogy characters back to our screens, in stories that fill in more Clone Wars canon, which is always a plus.

    Tales of the Jedi doesn’t have enough time to build out an intricate world and cast of its own. It’s left in an in-between state, simultaneously too light on narrative content and too laden with lore to stand by itself. ... If neither Ahsoka nor Dooku feel fully fleshed out in Tales of the Jedi, both are interesting enough to capture the 40-ish minutes of our time they each demand here.

    Eh, more Disney Star Wars. Make a bunch of content quick and get it out there to keep your dwindling fan base holding on for the next thing toEh, more Disney Star Wars. Had a few insights into a few beloved characters’ pasts and some artistic sequences but otherwise no stories that really needed telling especially in such a short medium where you really didn’t even do much with the allotted time. You’ll get way more backstory into these characters by just reading the books or, hell, using your own imagination. SPOILERS (are they really though?)
    The first episode instantly put me off. It was pointless. Derivative Jungle Book story firstly. Somehow an infant with force sensitivity tames a ferocious beast with one touch and can command it. Ridiculous. Also, how did she get on his back when she can’t even walk? DON’T KNOW. 13 minutes of unoriginal BS just to tell us what we already know: Asoka is force sensitive. Actually, no, not even that subtle. The show tells us she’s a Jedi as an infant. Lol that’s now this works, show. The rest is alright for the short time investment it takes to finish it. I did it in one sitting. Best parts are Count Drop-a-Dookie’s brief moments showing him slipping to the dark side and mourning the loss of Qui-be-Gon. Otherwise it’s all completely pointless. It relies heavily on dramatic music and visual tones rather than worthwhile storytelling and real character development. I’d rather have a fully fleshed out show focusing on one character that hasn’t gotten much screen time—even a tertiary character in legends. That would be better than this.    … Full Review »

It is set in the prequel era and focused on formative moments in the life's of characters. Mostly Ahsoka Tano, and Count Dooku but also a bit of Qui Gon Jinn, Mace Windu and others. I fully enjoyed that you get insight into the characters, their developments and an understanding what drives them. To be accurate that means not that that there is no action. There are some intense and well choreographed fights. Those are also as amazing as emotional. This mixture is what I want to see more of. Also it shows the cracks in the Republic and Jedi Order. For example: After witnessing what a younger Count Dooku saw I fully understand his motives as I would not be able to tolerate this too. The animations have the refined Clone Wars / Rebels style and I like the nostalgic atmosphere. As always the voice actors are amazing and the soundtrack enhances the atmosphere. Again it is so sneakingly good that I recognized it not immediately (Meant positive). Lets get a spoiler free description of the 6 episodes: “Life and Death” is the story of Ahsoka Tanos birth and more would be too much spoilers. “Justice” has a young Count Dooku with his Padawan Qui Gon Jinn on a mission to free the captive son of a senator. However it is much more different or gray than it seems. “Choices” follows Count Dooku and Mace Windu on a mission to retrieve a dead Jedi master. It shows the difference in those two. “The Sith Lord” deals with Qui Gon Jinns and Dookus relationship and is a bittersweet masterpiece that completes Count Dookus arc. “Practice makes perfect” is about Anakin and Ahsoka and he gives her a lesson that will be incredible useful later on. The final episode “Resolve” ends Ahsoka’s arc here and I love it. Overall this is short but excellent. I like the insights into the characters, their motivations and formative moments. The fights are well done but I see them as icing on the cake. I give a 9/10 and hope we get more like this. Be warned that Kenobi and Book of Boba Fett may be improved my rating as those are horrible in comparison.… Full Review »
