Not only did I grow up with Star Trek in the 90s, which made me an engineer eventually, I saw all Star Treks series, films, and shows multiple times over the years. I like Strange New Worlds. I understand that if you got used to JJ Abrams, you might not see the scope of it and how the Star Trek IP holder tried to create such a show for 20 years, with multiple attempts... Think Discovery or Picard, which have more in common with JJ Abrams than New Generation or Voyager. But in my opinion, it was about time to take inspiration from Next Generation and Voyager, even if some subtle moral or legal episodes may upset viewers seeking for action and hard sci-fi. It is exactly what the 90s Star Trek often was best at, compared to, say, Star Wars, or newer sci-fi franchises such as The Expense. Expand

The show is so much fun to watch. It is very similar to the original Star Trek. The casting is wonderful.

Episode 1 was great. Exceeded expectations. Exciting, smart, edge of your seat stuff, with a lot of heart.

Great show, emotionally driven and intelligent plotlines and character development. Feels like classic Star Trek. These conservative snowflakes whining in the comments that the show based in a literal communist space utopia has women and non-white people in it are really sad to me. The world is going to be a tough place if you get triggered over a show having a not exclusively white cast, and having well written women that aren't just objects of desire or damsels in distress needing to be saved by the hero. It must be so hard to just enjoy a good show for what it is when you see a black person or a lesbian and then run to Metacritic to leave a 0/10 and cry woke.

Some people here are saying "star trek is now run by woke leftists that think profit is bad", as if this show isn't literally based in a moneyless, profitless, classless society that is the Federation. Look up the definition of communism while you're at it, because yeah, no **** Star Trek has always been progressive, even back in the 70s, the natural progression as societal attitudes shift would be it becoming even more progressive.

But yeah, deeply enjoyed the first 4 episodes, very excited for what is to come. If it continues on like this I reckon it'll end up being even better than the first season. Incels, lighten up and chill out.

Star Treks new Strange New Worlds, is led by an excellent cast. Captain Pike, is the best Captain, in many a year. I love the fact that they have a Cadet Uhura, and James Kirks father. The Graphics, and animation are great. The plots, could use a little more intelligence. Some of the story lines feel like they have been used before. Overall watching this series has been a pleasure. The most fun and creative star trek production I've seen. The writing is top notch, the characters are very well cast, the sets and effects look amazing and the way it's shot and edited is close to perfect. This show is no joke, season 1 was already really good but season 2 is flawless

so far it has felt so much more like star trek, I no longer feel any discomfort or frustration while watching. It feels comforting and enjoyable. the way the characters talk feels so much better and all the characters are interesting and likeable. The stories so far have been intelligent and thought provoking, even if there is still a bit too much recycling of well trodden plotlines. Strange new worlds, is everything I love about Star Trek. It blends great characters with some insane situations. Your cerebral cortex gets a workout and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I see many reviews bemoaning "wokeness" but I didn't get that feel at all. The characters are who they are without making the episodes about that. From a story standpoint the show does a good job of making many episodes stand alone while also carrying an overarching story along. I love the artwork and overall artistic design. The dark reds make this my favorite enterprise yet. The special effects are amazing, I can just pause it and stare at a cosmos that's breathtaking. Most of all its just fun and entertaining. Hit it! I enjoyed it. The crossover episode was done really well with the split of humour and seriousness.

All of the classic “Trek” series that came before took until their third season to truly “get good.” So did “Picard.” Let’s then celebrate this show that set out to reach the stars and somehow got there faster than even the legendary series that paved the way for it.

No longer just a spinoff, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds goes boldly into its second season with terrific crew chemistry, more far-flung adventures on tap, and even more depth added to characters who already feel like classics.
