The return to a largely episodic story track is greatly appreciated. Of course, the writers cannot help themselves and add serialized "character development" threads to the episodes which do taint the episodic slant.

That being said, the push to put the "woke" story lines and "woke" character traits in SNW sour the overall feeling of the show. Yeah, even Roddenberry pushed the supposed utopia of the future in all his Star Treks, but when it is too pervasive and too preachy, it just doesn't play well. There is a fine line between helping a viewer "discover" an epiphany in a well crafted plot line, and just bludgeoning us with the obvious woke agendas.

I want to like this show, and there is such a lack of good entertainment on network and in the streaming apps, I will likely watch it, but the flaws continue to irritate.

Season 1 was excellent, so far Season 2 has writing that is not nearly as good. So far, the show's writers are a bit woke-lazy so far. Episode one starts off by falling prey to themes like 'profit is bad' men can't be in the episode or story, and similar. #Episode 2, which is a boring legal procedural with an annoying mary-sue defense lawyer, casts The Federation as racist - despiteSeason 1 was excellent, so far Season 2 has writing that is not nearly as good. Lazy. Hopefully, this trend will not continue this season. I will check back in after episodes 3 and 4. Expand

I love Star Trek, I grew up watching the original with my dad, and later TNG and DSN. The first episode was slow and uninteresting but the it goes into high school theater legal cases and strange virtue signaling. Full disclosure I’m a full on liberal but the agenda of this show is confusing at best. There’s no inventiveness, out there science, and not much space at all so far. Waiting for Discovery I guess, and maybe I’ll start rewatching The Expanse. Expand

Just a quick question. What is this? A new season of The Last Man? I just want to watch Star Trek: Strange New World. There's almost no men in the show. The captain is just a puppet. Strange New Worlds Season 2’s premiere is exciting and emotional… once it figures out who it wants to be about.

All of the classic “Trek” series that came before took until their third season to truly “get good.” So did “Picard.” Let’s then celebrate this show that set out to reach the stars and somehow got there faster than even the legendary series that paved the way for it.

No longer just a spinoff, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds goes boldly into its second season with terrific crew chemistry, more far-flung adventures on tap, and even more depth added to characters who already feel like classics.
