Silo as a TV series embraces monotony to a fault. It's the kind of show that presents something relevant only in the final minute to make you want to watch the next episode, but the 59 minutes before that are a pain to watch...

The first 2 episodes were strong, so much happened, and it seemed like we were going somewhere interesting. Then the rest of the season is SO VERY SLOW and with BORING backstories and flashbacks, nothing really happens, takes an entire episode for the main character to find a piece of paper. I'm going to fast forward and just see what the season finale has in store.

A weak serial adaptation of the successful novel. The book must have struck a chord at the time, but it was only mediocre, as it only starts well and falls off sharply in the middle. The ending was then fudged, but it fit.
Nothing really fits here and only the first episodes are suitable for viewing.

The first two episodes of this were atrocious bar about one third of the first episode when it seemed like there might be some interesting twists coming. No, its just A. But wait...there's something else we can look at. Forget about A and B. lets examine C. Characters are discarded without any payoff to their stories, plot holes appear in the very first episode and grow worse in the second. The world building doesn't stand up to a moment's thought regarding feasibility or the practicalities of how such a society would evolve. I can only imagine the book it was based on was written using a pseudonym by the child of a billionaire. I have no idea how else it could have racked up so many positive reviews given the turgid quality of its content. Expand

Cliched paper-thin premise, it's lilke you've seen this exact tired story cheaply put to screen a million times before. I never read the books so maybe the interesting part is still coming? Hmmm, not so sure about that... And Rebecca Ferguson indeed cannot act. Tried episode 3 and couldn't finish it..

Apple bribed "professional"critics into rating this show postitively and skimped on the writing and world building. Clichéd dystopian premise. Dumb dialogues. Cheap decor and effects. Bye Apple TV!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Interesting idea. Unfortunately, a lot of logic errors...first of all - ATTENTION: SPOILER - if they go out voluntarily and believe that everything is good outside, why do they put on the helmet and the tank with the poison. That makes no sense! As soon as I saw the tank and helmet in the first episode, I knew there was poison in it.... Then why are the "doubters" of the silo (even the sheriff!) so naive and stupid and couldn't realise this???!! If they are so stupid, then they should be locked up ...or die!

If the rest of the story is similarly "logical", then there is no point in watching any further. Seeing stupid people making dumb failures is not entertaining.

Seems like an interesting idea at first but it is clear after the first couple of episodes that the plot is paper thin and spread into length to fill out the screen time. There are so many plot holes & inconsistencies that it's almost funny. It claims to be sci fi, but does not possess any quality of sci fi: it's a piece of fantasy.

Okay, after watching episode 3, I have to change my score to a complete negative. You have an imbalanced steam turbine stopped in mere seconds, immediately cold, with elements supposed to be subject to centrifugal forces that can be removed and reshaped easily, or be bent god knows how. A system so ingenious that it was built vertically, about 500 m below the surface, without a backup system or steam vents just closure system that locks from the pressured side. At 250 bars, the temperature of steam is about 400C (750F), cooling such a small area as the steam valve wouldn't change anything apart from toasting the protagonist. Everyone should have been toasted multiple times in this episode.

Come on guys, I know the suspension of disbelief has to exist for the magic to happen, but the world building is just so disconnected from any semblance of reality, it's like it has been built by a child.

It's not dystopic, it's not sci fi, but it's massively cringe inducing.

Another flop. Terrible writing, banal character development, predictable cheesy plot arc's. It was extremely painful enduring the first episode - couldnt move on to the second knowing that each time I gave Apple an opportunity to surpise and entertain me i had to move on to the third and fourth episode in angst. Save yourself the torture of hoping against hope and give this a wide berth.

Wow, how did they mess this one up. The books weren't bad. This is boring, tedious, predictable. Really a disappointment. Oh well. Eventually they'll wake up and maybe look back into the past to find fresh. The stuff they're selling now sure ain't fresh.

I love what mystery shows can be.

Unfortunately Silo very much fits into this group. The setup was very good and it seemed this show might be different. But Silo treads water at an Olympic level while also managing to raise an infuriating amount of inconsistencies in its own world-building.

Powerfully distinctive dialogue, meaningful themes, and engrossing — but never showy — visuals make Silo’s first episode one of the most gripping premieres of the TV streaming era.

While Silo does occasionally have the (not unwelcome) gait and tone of an old Saturday syndicated show (Deep Space Nine comes to mind), Ferguson—in all her stern command—lends the series a necessary heft.
