Simply put, Sense8 is one of the best TV Shows I ever saw. One of the few where I got to deeply care about the characters. The pilot may be a bit slow for a setup episode, but the rewards you get by watching it through are more than worth your patience.

The fact that the show has such a diverse cast and takes place in such diverse settings involving interesting characters, makes it worth watching. It has TWO gay protagonists (one who is Mexican and another transgender!), along with characters from Korea, India, Kenya, Iceland and Germany. But you do have to come in with some suspension of disbelief in the sci-fi and plot elements, which make little sense on their own. But as a vehicle to get these diverse characters talking to and supporting one another, it makes perfect sense. I hope they continue this into Season 2, so some of the broader plot elements can be resolved, but if not, it still makes for riveting television. Expand

The script / dialogue is on the whole very well thought out and immersive however there are some really cheesy one liners that let the show down, but out of all the episodes I can probably count on one hand how many times this happens. I really hope sense 8 is renewed for a second season as I am desperate to find out how the characters and their connections develop. Beyond that its a scifi show, not shocking given its producers. Similarities with Heroes and Touch abound.

My initial reaction for three episodes was WTF? But by the end of the season, I was kind of in awe of the whole thing-- it's ambitious and really made use of its central conceit. Treat the entire first season as an entire movie-- the first few episodes are just set-up.

So this show won't be for everyone and there were moments when I felt it wasn't going to be for me either. That being said, I ended up binge watching all 12 episodes in about 24 hours. (Not an exaggeration, I was hooked after the 3rd episode.)

I'll rate by a few categories.

Story line 9/10 - I would say, this story line and plot requires you to think about what has happened in past scenes. You're definitely not watching this for a full action movie like Rambo and Expendables (I love Rambo and watched Expendables more than a few times). You need an open mind with some short term memory retention and some compassion for others. You do jump around to develop the characters which is to my next point.

Character Development - 9/10, The development was great but some of the scenes (sex scenes mostly) weren't really my type of thing to watch. A few uncomfortable moments but that's what fast forward is for. Some people are going to knock it by believing there's a political agenda behind the movie. I personally did not see it that way, while some of the sex scenes were a bit over the top and unnecessary, a lot of the other stuff was necessary for character development. You have to appreciate how in depth they made each character.

Shooting / Cinematography - 10/10, As others have mentioned , you get to see a wide range of places from Chicago, Nirobi, South Korea, Iceland, India etc. The scenes were shot nicely, transitions were pretty good. I did enjoy the fight scenes as well, most of them were necessary for character development and to get a feel for their personal beliefs and feelings. It's not like a Transformers movie (Guilty pleasure of mine) where everything is blown up via Michael Bay style.

You cannot watch this show and base it on the first 3 episodes. If you're not able to follow along, I would advise watching it twice. The last 2 or 3 episodes were great. I will certainly look forward to a 2nd season of Sense 8.

It's character-based. And they main characters are all good people. They're not really complex, and the moral dilemmas are not really dilemmas. Yet, they're not boring. In the end, it's a feel-good show. I'm ok with that. I mean... At least I'm not expecting it all to have meaning that isn't obvious,

One thing I do wish they expanded more on than they did was the main story, as they kind of left that out of most of the episodes, only rarely coming back to it, but in the last few episodes they picked up on that much more, and they also finally got characters to meet up in real life (I wonder how interacting with people will work, they should expand on that in the future seasons!)

There are some issues though, the main one being that at times, I find myself not interested in some of the stories and would rather focus on others, but the show at the very least doesn't focus too long on one story, so that is not too much of an issue most of the time, and it will generally throw something at you which makes you sit up in your chair again and go "oh crap!" It may also be a bit too slow for some people, there's a lot of talking, yet not much action, and since it's suppose to be part drama part sci-fi, you would expect more action. That being said, it once again does have great action scenes when they do happen, which do use the various characters, so that's nice.

Overall, the first season is great, and hopefully they keep this up, I can't wait to see what will happen in the future, and Netflix has once again shown what great original content that they can produce.

Oh, and they are being hunted because of this.

This premise creates a relatively interesting story that will undoubtedly be filled with various plot holes and things that can simply be described as stupid. And I feel that Sense8 is exactly this: it is interesting, yet filled with holes.

Some of the strong points of this season is that it is filled with interesting characters with fascinating character developments. The comedy, the action, the politics, and multitude of protagonists, and the unique presentation gives this show an artistic flair that I don't see too often. It is an honestly intriguing series that I find entertaining, that that is why I would give it a solid 8/10.

But yeah, some areas are blatantly stupid. Sometimes it seems as though the motivations and feelings of each of the protagonists are disjointed, where there is just no plausible reason for them to help each other at any given time, or do what they need to do. Some characters are helplessly emotional one moment, and ridiculously assertive the next, or simply both simultaneously.

All said and done though, it was entertaining enough to recommend it, and I do look forward to seeing the next season.

A bizarre woman gives the vision of herself to many unrelated people, who ultimately begin to see and feel things occurring in the others' places. Its broad variety of personalities is introduced with gorgeous visual, switching from one corner of the globe to the next continuously.

Cinematography ensures that each character has their own respective flair, from the urban Chicago police to the Korean executive lady. This approach engages the viewers as subtle visual and audio cues collide with each other. Color ambiance shifts while the background music or ticking sound interrupts their senses. This is a fascinating concept to portray as they might find solace, anxiety or at least curiosity in the peculiar bond.

It takes advantage of the cultural contrast to deliver lively and personal story of the cast. They are fortunately adequately interesting as they go through respective issue in their lives. Acting is pretty good throughout, which is crucial because the premise demands all of them need to be balanced instead of relying solely on one strong performance. The pace is properly fast, with focus on transition and proportional development.

The main concerns are the expected longer time to build up and its use heavily controversial themes. As the title suggests, the show invests in multiple perspectives, which understandably might take a while to fully develop all the characters. It also dabbles in serious subjects such as religion, tradition as well as homosexual rights. One of those could be taken the wrong way if it's presented indelicately, though it shouldn't pose much problem, considering the fictitious nature of the show.

Granting perspectives of myriad characters in their own vibrant worlds while also featuring a good mystery, Sense8 should be a delightful present to many.

Great idea. Many of the characters in the series caused a bit slower development of the story.
In general I am satisfied with the way the series is done.
The biggest objections were too many main characters in the series, and it seems to me that the end of the season was done in a last resort.

That said, I like the fact that each character is given time to develop. This is also science fiction with a very complex story line. It is an excellent series to binge watch. The slow start is due to the series looking at 8 individuals plus Darryl Hannah.

I mean it. This show is about 8 people with a weird mental disorder just loving, laughing, having sex, and dealing with family drama.

    That being said - I loved Sense8.

The premise owes a great deal to Theodore Sturgeon's "Baby is Three" for the idea of humans co-mingling their minds to create a "Gestalt" being (called a "cluster"in the show) that shares all the thoughts, feelings and skills of the individuals.

There is also the Hollywood standard "shadowy organization" trying to do bad things to the main characters but that's such a minor part of the whole. I've seen this show compared to the first season of NBC's "Heroes" but, while it did remind me of that show at times, Sense8 is the better product.

It is not for everyone but I found it compelling enough to watch the whole 12 episodes straight through so you should at least give it a shot. You'll know if it's your thing after about 1 and a half episodes.

Compared to what the Wachowskis have previously given us, Sense8 is a whole other story. Obviously being a TV-show the format is different from what I've seen from the Andy & Lana Wachowski, and one of the things that I appreciated about the show is that they really - but I mean really - took the time to hash out the characters and their story. It's always nice when that happens in a show, it allows us to understand and to related to the characters. In this case it not only made the characters realistic but also gave them interesting stand alone storylines. They didn’t exist as a group but as individuals, with their own lives and their own set of problems, they were individuals who eventually teamed up.

Fleshing out characters is nice but the creative team might have been a little too generous with that. It slowed the pace of the show so much that it was - at times - a bit annoying, but their story is gripping enough to keep you watching. The premise alone does it because with a bit of wits you can easily see some of the cool things that could be done in the show from the get go, and it pays off. The action sequences are beautiful and quite enjoyable to watch. I also loved how they peppered some key information throughout the episodes before that knowledge became relevant for a particular situation.

Like the premise suggest Sense8 has a broad scope, which allows for beautiful landscape shots, and a glimpse at different cultures and/or way of life. In a single episode we travel around the world, we go from something familiar to something foreign in minutes, and that’s another appeal of the show. The actors themselves represent the diversity their characters showcases. A lot of nationalities, colors, and sexual orientation are represented in Sense8. On that aspect it truly feels like these people are an archetype of someone you know.

Sense8 is intriguing, gripping, and entertaining to watch. The show is a beautiful mashup of genres and I’m really crossing my fingers for a second season. @Gulk on Tumblr / @wornoutspines

The show becomes less and less chaotic as idea unravels and I can really see the second season as being even better than the first in terms of character depth. I really wanted to get to know the characters better, they have so much potential and their diversity really intrigued me. Great show but only the beginning of something excellent. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sense8 has an bizarre, quixotic plot, which if you are a believer makes for a amusing tall tale.

SPOILER: Eight people living in different places around the world are able to (learning how to) live within one another. Of course, there is the mad scientist hunting people like them, sensates, down and lobotomizing them to prevent a proliferation of co-inherence among other groups of eight. We just can't have a world where international groups of eight are able to think and work as one.

If you are able to buy into the premise, not unlike Field of Dreams' "If you build it, they will come," it's a decent ride to and from many worlds, a real global tale. The multi-genre story line has something for just about everyone. Although I wouldn't want a child watching this series. Mom, definitely block this one! There is science-fiction, romance (all genders just about), mystery, and lots of action (violence). The multiple location photography is captivating and in some scenes breathtaking: Chicago, London, Reykjavik, Nairobi, Seoul, which ads to the "I am also a we" ideology--but without any Borg like assimilation.

I do have a warning. The directors are the Wachowskis Andy and Lana, "The Matrix" and "Cloud Atlas." Lana Wachowski, being the first transgender director to go public. The consequence is the series is heavily slanted toward gay and lesbian relationships, with full frontal nudity of males, male-on-male and female-on-female sex scenes. The mixing of genres and the mixing of gender make chaotic sense somehow: close to a living in a multi, intersecting borderlands. But, although artistic, such scenes are explicit. Birth scenes show the head of the child crowning between the legs of their mothers--which I find ironic because the majority of sex is between same sex lovers. Not that all this explicitness is needed--it even distracts from more complex scripting.

I'm also puzzled that the Wachowskis would cast Jamie Clayton, an actual female actor, to play the transgender (male to female) role rather than an actual transgendered actor. Reminds me of Hollywood's choosing non-Asian actors over Asian actors in movies like The Good Earth. Though I do not fault Clayton's acting in the part and even covet her low voice.

There's less action than you might think, at least at the beginning, though the payoff when it happens is great. Humor is also sparse; atmospherically, reminds me of Orphan Black or Cloud Atlas.

Sense8 is a truly ambitious TV series with a premise that is tantalizing enough to get any person to sit down and ask for more. To start with the good aspects of the show we will cover just how vast the giant web of Sense8 really is.
It follows the lives of 8 people who are psychically linked and reveals the lives of those that live within this cluster. The show does a great job of building plot suspense without solely relying on flashy action and life or deal situations to create the suspense. You constantly want to know more because Sense8's plot is incredibly withholding for the first few episodes. It leaves you in the dark just as it leaves the characters in the dark. This really helps you understand the confusion and the emotion of the characters because you are in the same place as they are. You are no more privy to answers than they are.
Next, the web of characters creates a satisfying and intriguing dynamic that allows you to enter each character's life for a brief amount of time each episode. This means you get the character's story in nice digestible sections rather than long drawn out narratives. Not only is the approach a fresh idea, but the way the movie was shot is incredibly beautiful. The tailoring of these stories is sewn together with golden thread because the cinematography really is quite striking and makes the transition from characters, which is usually a jolting process, an agreeable and almost natural feeling.
Enough cannot be said about how beautiful this series is shot. It certainly helps that there are 8 unique environments as familiar as the streets of US city like Chicago and as foreign as the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. It gives the show a shifting and changing flavor that never goes stale. One minute you are in London or Soul or Mexico City and yet the environments remain comfortable. It is once again a sign of the outstanding direction of this series that as a viewer you are comfortable within each and every setting that you find yourself in and really mirrors the essence of the show, which is that these 8 people are profoundly connected despite their stark differences.
This is leads to one of the best parts of this show. The way it really lets its message of inter-connectedness sink in not by telling you, but by showing you and making you feel it. This profound link between the 8 strangers is not bogged down in listless dialogue or vast amounts of explanatory narrative, but is shown through the small, rich moments between the characters and the stunning cinematography that really allows your to feel what a character is feeling rather than be told it.
Now, for the bad things. I would say that the worst part about the show for me was the pacing. I wanted to know more and I wanted it now. However, the show is brilliantly and frustratingly mysterious. It is easy to see why critics did not respond to being shown the first 3 episodes, because the main narrative remains clouded until half way through the season. Now, this wouldn't be so bad except it also took some time to get the individual character story liens off the ground as well. It was like watching a space shuttle take off. The flames were burning and the smoke was pillowing out from under the shuttle, but it took what seemed like years for the show to lift off.
I will agree with a lot of people that the characters can be a little static at some points. They do seem to all fit into a certain niche or category. Will being the cop who tries to save everyone and all around acts like a paragon. Wolfgang, the guy with an bad boy attitude who is struggling with inner demons. However, I will say that many of the characters do break out of their shell by the end of the season. So, all in all, the fact that some of the characters felt a little stale was a problem until the show started to progress.
While the first season is around a whole 24 hours of screen time, I feel the background of the characters is really lacking. Much of the background for the characters was developed in the last episode of the season. A lot of the backgrounds prior to that episode remained unknown or progressing at a rate too slow to keep total interest. While this acts as a mystery that makes you want more it is an annoyance at times.

Sense8 has the opposite problem. A cast of interesting characters you’re compelled to explore before the damn mystery comes and takes everything over. When Upstream Color came out it was tough to handle emotionally—all those amazing scifi concepts dealt on an art film and left unexplored, certainly lost to memory. But then Sense8 comes in and steals like a third of the movie and makes it feel fresh enough to stand on its own and finally explore some of that awesome material! Way to Mr. Robot that **** Sense8. Like Mr. Robot it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief but rewards you for your cooperation. Once you accept the ridiculous turns the only sad part left is the pacing. When you think about it, the idea of a show about a meta-organism is probably the best postmodern premise you could have. The potential for exploring next step evolution as cultural evolution in which individuals are elevated through sharing and reconciling of difference and experience—that’s maybe the most timely and uplifting story one could tell. Halfway in though, you get the old G-men plot. It’s cool but it does a disservice to what the development of the meta-organism could have been. There’s a lot of good material that will probably never get explored unless season 2 steps back and slows down, which will almost definitely not happen. Lito’s story is a good example of how the rest should have been plotted. Expand

As I am a language freak myself, it was a bit disappointing not hearing more Swahili, Korean, German, Hindi, Spanish... it's not necessary to fill the series with subtitles, but a little more local flavor would have been great, given that this is such an original plot (OK, too fantastic and forced sometimes, but that's what I expect in a series). Anyway there are a few remarkable and funny moments; my favorite characters are Nomi and Amanita, the former has some moving performances (and a beautiful voice), the latter is truly an angel. Naveen gives viewers a connection to Lost, a good wink since I think Lost and Fringe fans can enjoy this series. I can recommend it in spite of the shortcomings... the mix of world locations is a plus. This could have been a good story with 100% of the sex and sexuality parts of it removed. In most places across the globe since sex is a private thing and for the most part devoid of thought and conversation, it will never serve to advance a fiction story. Kissing and fading to black is fine. Heck, even lying in bed naked talking is fine. If you're a believe in nothing belongs in a story that doesn't advance a character or plot, sex scenes never serve to do this and rarely do, even when they're enjoyable. I can always watch porn for those things. Heck, why don't Hollywood movie directors try their hand at porn every once in a while if they want to make sex beautiful?

Not sure if another season needs to exist as it is. I'd pull it a bit more down to Earth and make the plot and story more concrete and maybe it can work. I'm not sure if vagueness and mystery can carry a show on throughout the years.

And the villain, ok, that looked like a grandpa from Connecticut or some professor trying to be break-bad all of a sudden, (Paging Walter White, Paging Heisenberg....). Just come on, gives us a super villain, hell my in-laws are better villains than that guy.

But overall, I think it has promise, hopefully the 2nd season will be better.

Initially I thought i was going to love the show. It was so beautiful to look at that I figured some of the early narrative incoherence intentional. Unfortunately incoherence ebbs and flows in and out of each story line. Characters sometimes act irrationally or recklessly for no reason to keep the narrative moving. It seems they had an idea for the narrative framework, wanted to get from A to B with the main plots and ended up forcing a bit too much.
There are a bunch of things that are just a little dumb. I found myself thinking 'if they had just asked someone if this made sense, the answer would have been no'.
Just not good enough but it does contain elements that could easily make a great season 2

The first episode was one long, long teaser letting you try to find out what the heck is going on here. OK, it becomes somewhat clear that there is a psychic connection among these eight people and Darryl Hanna's character is the connection. I really don't need "obvious" in my TV (or download) shows, but this first episode carried obscurity a bit too far. I will go on, hoping this begins to make some sense(8) and I will carefully up-date my comments after I've given the show a fair trial.

It does have entertaining parts but too much of it is just boring and slow. The thing is, it's not slow because it needs to be for story telling purposes, it's simply slow for no reason. A lot of times the character development is minimal and the little "action" there is, is quite lame.

Dreadfully slow, with sprints of incoherent storytelling. We have the Mexico storyline, poorly acted and out of place and then the San Francisco one that just heightens what is left of any potential for the show. It is well filmed and given the locations makes it more intriguing, but not by much.

Sense8 was built upon the premise of getting into the stories of the characters' lives, even postponing the core concept of the show for this purpose. The problem is that the characters fit very nicely into stereotypes, removing much of the reason for caring about their stories. The result is that much of the audience ends up feeling bored.

This show starts very slow but eventually becomes very intriguing and even addictive. The biggest problem is the disjointed nature of the storytelling from trying to tell eight very different stories at the same time. While this concept can hypothetically work, it honestly isn't dealt with very well. Most of the time, the stories seem a bit boring. A standard in most entertainment is to reduce down the content to only the most important elements for the basic concept the entertainment was founded on while including some that are necessary for establishing a feeling and such. Sense8 seems to ignore this, injecting large amounts of filler, as it would be described in most other entertainment. That filler seems to be the majority of the storytelling, occasionally showing critically important or super fun content. Add to that the fact that eight very different stories are being told, and the audience tends to lose interest in the big mix of all that is going on.

Another problem is that the characters whose minds are connected don't actually talk to each other very much until maybe half way through the first season. Apparently, they are figuring out that they are connected to other real people. What is confusing is the utter lack of conversation with each other. After all, the characters sometimes say that they hear the thoughts of eight other people in their heads. If they can hear their thoughts and figure out who they are from seeing their lives as portrayed inside their heads, wouldn't they then be able to realize that they should talk to these people? Even if the logic of the writing is done so that the characters simply don't have time for conversation since they are simply responding to emergencies, conversations make good writing. It is simply maddening to wait around during so many episodes for conversations to finally start between them. This makes the story crawl along, simply getting the audience acquainted with the characters' separate stories. When the show needs to get the audience addicted, it wastes time with filler, even leaving out conversations that very much need to happen. One such time strangely left one character without much help, despite plenty of other characters receiving exactly the help they needed to avoid disaster. All this character needed was to have some helpful conversations with a few people since some of them even had experience with the problem. It simply seemed to be a plot device to get that character to a specific place in their story, instead of following the obvious logic that most of the characters would have reacted very emotionally to the situation, encouraging a different result.

One more problem is related to the entertainment value of the show. Some of the characters just seem to be poor choices as heroes in a team. Sure, the characters are intended to be completely random within the story itself, but the creators of the show chose them for entertaining reasons. Unfortunately, many of them seem to be almost pointless or just unnecessary, given that someone else could easily do the same job. One example is the actor. His only real skill that he can offer the group is lying. He can be a smooth talker with girls, but it's hardly a priceless ability, especially considering that the thief could easily be a skilled liar, too. There was even a scene where the actor had to lie for the thief because he couldn't think of anything. What sort of thief is a poor liar? Another character with this problem of seeming to be useless as a hero is the DJ from London. She is very skilled at making beautiful music, as heard in the episode that introduced her, but we don't hear any of it after that. Otherwise, she's just a damsel in distress.

The final problem that I want to discuss is the sexual content. This series is pornographic. It includes very sexual scenes with both full nudity and actual sex. There is even a full orgy. What is strange is that the only romantic relationships that exist between the main characters during the majority of the first season is between gay people. What are the odds that the only people who are already in love and having sex are gay? Not only that, but there are two couples: one for each gender/sex. The whole show starts to feel very one-sided toward homosexuality, instead of balancing it with heterosexuality rather equally. I don't like to see porn in shows, but I especially dislike seeing only gay porn without any balance at all.

Despite these complaints, I did enjoy much of the storytelling. The whole show is rather slow to begin with, but the stories become enticing and addictive during the second half.

Certainly one of the most creative shows of its kind but fails to keep interest among average watchers. My whole family likes science fiction and fantasy but everyone one of our eight watchers burned out early in season one. I was the only won who stuck it out looking for value well into season 2.

After reviewing comments from actors in the press and reports of those who watched the producers and writers work, I would say that the reason this falls short is very simple.

This product was a LGBT "playground" used as a forum by its writers. These two didn't plan out where they were taking the show or its characters except in the broadest sense. It is clear that none of the characters really were graced with an overall multi-series story line from which to draw motivation. The actors were deprived of really knowing anything from episode to episode and could find themselves showing up to be killed.

It's the that the Wachowskis didn't really know where they were taking it but rather just looked for ways to explore LGBT themes and showcase various fantasies they wanted to see on TV.

It is also clear that they had a vision that was very broad, expansive, international, and expensive. And that vision is clear from the exceptional and moving imagery captured worldwide - it conveys a very unique and compelling vision which I'm certain was not random or by accident.

But that is the driver - a vision of imagery and LGBT situations that would shock and yet convey the writer's reality to the mainstream public. I can't say that for the 90% of the watchers like myself who are just mundane and straight, we took any pleasure or even interest in those parts of the series. Most people said they simply took a break and picked up watching when it appeared to be moving forward.

It is clear to me that the Wachowskis have a creative vision and are driven to a certain type of product that is not mainstream and is not connected to a large audience but rather a very small and highly specialized audience.

People who liked LOST will probably do well at least initially - all of our watchers stuck with LOST throughout even though all complained of the slowness, the lack of clear direction, and more. With Sense8 these folks dropped out because not only was it slow to develop, apparently directionless, but also just outright not entertaining enough to hold their shallow and pedestrian tastes for TV action series.

    3. There ere 7 seprarate personal stories with multiple characters and I do not really see where they are going. Starting 4th episode I found some stories uninteresting and found myself skipping all of them.

There are some personal arcs that didn't move an inch. Hindu girl started the show with doubts about her wedding and 9 episodes into the show she is almost in the same state. The mexican actor is going through some personal love crisis that for me also does not move anywhere. The only interesting story arcs for me are that of the Korean girl and Kenyan guy. This in itself wouldn’t be an issue (after all Game of Thrones does a similar thing) if any of these individual stories were actually interesting or encouraged us to become invested in the developments but, whether it be the story of the Indian lady getting married or the homosexual actor hiding his sexuality, they all move at a snail’s pace with dull scenes consisting of dialogue that seems to ramble on about nothing in particular for far too long.

They did a good job throwing us a bone with a 2 1/2 hour "wrapup" episode (the newly released episode 12), but it's still rushed and only half satisfying. They basically had to cut all the subplots and just shoot for finishing up and making us feel nice.

It did feel nice to have closure, but since this would have been one of the best shows ever made (most expensive as well, the reason they cancelled it), and it's now downgraded to an amazing show with half an ending, I can't really recommend it anymore.

tribalism in East Africa, and, last but not least,
    Eastern European criminals

I'm not trying to sound so plot-heavy, but there innumerably scenes that don't further any agenda. The show is belabored, but not in a way that appears purposeful. They appear to be hitting on what I like to call the HBO/AMC agenda: add a lot of sundry trauma to every character's past, make sure that characters' lives do not improve for a lengthy period of time, but, Sense8 differs in one way, every character's decision is black or white, which makes the moralizing that much more obnoxious, since it lacks depth.

Also, while I cannot speak for other viewers, I could not care any less about any of the main characters. The most compelling was the policeman, who is the only actor I had recognized from before.

God, spare me another moment of this show by bringing me a new Hannibal or Arrested Development.

Also, what show needs 2+ minutes of a theme intro...

I really, REALLY tried to get into this but after 3 hours of watching it just felt like it was all style and no substance. Visually slick, but the slow pace of plot and character development couldn't keep me watching.

This was the most disappointing series ever. The trailer made it look so suspenseful and exciting, yet it's a slow-moving bore. If you were a fan of LOST, you will remember how there were flashback stories for each character, filling in pieces of their history which helped us see who they were before they got to the island and or how they got to the island. Sense8 is basically 8 stories cut together in each episode and sometimes they overlap. The trailers suggest OVERLAP... is the main feature, yet the series neglects to overlap enough to make the stories compelling enough. I struggled through 8 1/2 episodes, waiting, hoping, praying, that things would pay off and kick-in to gear, but it just didn't happen. Such a waste of time. Expand

Senseless on many levels. Like so many previous Wachowski misfires, the narrative refuses to make sense, and it is obsessively larded with strong physical sex, both straight and LGBT. I quit after episode 2.

Yes , i really needed that view of the wet with KY strap on **** hitting the floor to advance the story line. Its as if this show was made for teen boys so they could get excited. Cheap way to get ratings.

Even as a pretty far-left-leaning liberal, I found this show to be extremely preachy. A great deal of the characters fall victim to overacting, with barely relevant and often shoe-horned conversations that look about as organic as a cereal commercial. The tiny backstories couldn't possibly be more cliched, and the sub-plots are worse than what you would see in a Saturday morning cartoon.Even as a pretty far-left-leaning liberal, I found this show to be extremely preachy. All-in-all, I was disappointed in this show, not to mention the earnest acceptance of its terrible-ness by people more interested in the agenda than a show worth watching. I've seen more entertaining political attack ads.

Meh. Started off kind of interesting, but after watching half of the first season I find it becoming a little boring and predictable as the story unfolds. It can lead to indulgent storytelling, but in the case of a series like Sense8, real artistry, too.

Sense8 is a show forever trapped between two things--its core artistic impulses and its need to over-explain everything that happens within its confines. That makes it at once beautiful and maddening, either a complete travesty or a whacked-out masterpiece--and sometimes both in the same scene.

The ultimate paradox of Sense8 is that it can give away so little about its ultimate destination in three hours of screen time, and still be seductive enough to make hour four an attractive proposition.
