    The sights and sounds in “Secrets of the Whales” are dazzling throughout, thanks in large part to the epic camerawork by Brian Skerry, who captures the whales with such intimate detail, there are times when it appears as if they’re looking right at us.

    So far so good for Secrets of the Whales. Nature-doc lovers will eat this stuff up like, I dunno, a generous-of-spirit orca to a half-eaten stingray.

    As constructed as the stories about “love and tenderness and family” can seem, “Secrets of the Whales” is as visually engrossing as you would expect given the time spent and talent involved.
