I rarely give 0 points. Nearly never. This season - at least the first 5 episodes - deserved it. Rock got the punchline of most jokes. He nearly Isa side charakter while is name is in the title of the show. Rock was the one point I watched this show though

TRASH. This show is becoming The Simpsons' last seasons literally. There is no nihilism, no moments of questioning reality, no criticism of today's society or anything that made Rick and Morty a good series. The only thing we find are crappy parodies of other series and movies which are irrelevant to the plot. Not to mention the last episode, it seems that they wanted to end the plot ofTRASH. An unfortunate end to a truly great show.

Like so many shows, when the big money comes in the head writer is either removed from the show or else given a supervisory role over much worse writers, to make sure the show is now made at the studio's schedule, rather than the artist's because of course the studio doesn't like waiting, now the artist has made something worth selling.

Whilst there are parallels to Community, when Harmon was removed from his own show, in the fourth season, then re-instated, the fact that Harmon has been retained and is now even wheeled out at the end of episodes to tell people "I really did work on it, I promise", somewhat dashes hopes that any level of quality will ever return to the show.

So, that's it, unfortunately. four seasons of Rick and Morty, and nothing else. RIP.
Let's hope whatever project Dan Harmon is actually writing, these days, comes along and washes the bitter taste left behind by the sensationally horrible writers, currently rattling Rick and Morty's corpse.
But hey.... At least the show is released on schedule, now, right? It's better being regular than good.

While the first two episodes are good Rick & Morty (7, and 8 respectively), the next two are bad to worse. Luckily by episode five they seem to have corrected the ship.

Episode 4 was so bad that I stopped at around the 10 minute mark. This was anti-Rick & Morty. Previously, even with the filler episodes, I never considered even skipping a minute. 1/10

Episode 5 is the same joke repeated endlessly, and explained every.single.time. I missed this the first time due to being called away at least twice during that viewing, and after being challenged to re-watch realized my original review was far too generous. This was another 5/10 at best.

Episode 6 is right back to the good old Rick & Morty. 8/10

Episode 7 on the other hand is right back to the new Rick & Morty, with the same joke used over and over, and never land. I managed to get to 12 minutes and decided to watch episode 6 again. 2 / 10

Episode 8 is better again, which is really starting to get frustrating since the REAL Rick & Morty is still possible. 8/10

Definitely the weakest season thus far, no episode in this round would likely crack the top half of best episodes of the series. It's as though the creators half hate the show and its fans, or find the burden of character development unbearable (the final episode's payoffs were all but muted by the fourth wall demolishing commentating bizarrely resisting getting pulled into serialization in an off-putting and narratively vapid way), and can no longer find humor in their own project, only endless cynicism crammed into conceptual vehicles that work to varying degrees (Mortyplicity was a great concept executed to mediocrity, A Rickconvenient Mort was a terrible spoof), . It feels like riding in a racecar with a driver who is utterly bored with the situation and resents greatly the desire of those in the car to extract pleasure from the things that they do. Why do you guys want to go around the track so much? Fine I'll do it and make fun of you for wanting it.

As a result the season's biggest sin is that it's simply not very funny, and occasionally openly hostile towards those watching it. Hopefully there's some magic left in the tank, though I suspect this show's best days are now behind it.

I do think though that the spirit of R & M are still woven in deeply, with some great, quirky ideas like an "Interstellar" parallel universe where time moves differently (vastly so) that has some truly funny outcome for Rick and Morty when they explore and utilize it for their own purposes... for the stupid reason to age wine quickly - obviously the best use for a universe where time moves exponentially faster versus ours!

Leaving aside the underlying tones of environmentalism clearly provided by the more super woke "the planet is dying!" unproductives in their workforce, I can say this is a way more enjoyable season so far than four ever was.

Don't be a Jerry and just enjoy it.

Very inconsistent writing that goes exactly against previous seasons. It really feels like Rick isn't Rick and Morty isn't Morty. Rick doesn't even use his portal gun and there is no deeper meaning in the episodes. Not to mention the last few episodes have been extremely gross with the giant semen and the giant incenst baby. It is almost too cringe to even watch.

The same can be said for rick and morty now; jerry is Bi, rick is nerfed down worthless oldman, and morty is a complete retard. The woman all got karen level feminazi upgrades, they have all the answers to everything, constantly having to save the males; "hoho lets same these brainsless males", (woke, p.c. critics applause). The woke pc agenda isnt the only annoying thing, the jokes...the jokes never **** land. I honestly cant say ive laughed once. Its like the writers are tailored to write for retarded Genz tiktok perverts. The only season 5 episode i have really enjoyed was the one with planetina breaking morty's heart, thats only reason i gave it a full star. I have a feeling that alot of long time rick and morty fans are gonna quit the series after this, the rebranding of the smiths is pathetic and desperate, dan is running out of ideas and trusting the wrong people with help. The show is pretty much dead to me Expand

The clearest evidence of this is the multiple videos, articles, and interviews in which they choose to single out the weakest, most mentally ill, and socially unfavorable fans on the internet and denigrate them. Nothing speaks of a higher character than powerful, millionaire, hollywood folks who use their giant megaphone to attack their own fans, the very people whose admiration and appreciation gave them all of the aforementioned wealth and power. Further evidence of their disdain for the show in the ridiculously delayed production schedule and decline in quality. Not to mention the increasing destruction of their franchise towards the appeasement of wokeness. I'm just an average dude who enjoys the show, and I notice all of these things. Instead of being too cool for the party, the people behind the show are the Jerry of the party. Also, the cringiest people related to the show are not some oddball fans on the internet, but the creators, who have destroyed one of the most of the most beloved, creative, funny, socially relevant, and profitable pieces of entertainment and let the best thing they will ever probably create go to waste due to an excessive sense of embarrassment, insecurity and ingratitude. Big disappointment, they had every opportunity to become some of the best 9 seasons of American TV of all time, but stopped at 3 seasons then turned into a dud. My guess is that more than characters, Jerry is similar to the reality and Rick some kind of weird hateful power fantasy of the writers, which is the source of their exaggerated resentment and choke artistry Expand

Season 5 continues the slide into basic storytelling that made up season 4. It is difficult to craft stories that are as interesting and complex as the first three seasons, so I don't expect constant brilliance, but this era of the show reminds me of the last 10-15 years of South Park where they pick one or two "jokes" and mine them for all they're worth and make constant callbacks. Lazy and repetitive writing! On R&M? Yes, it's become as bad as Family Guy or the worst South Park episodes. Ep 2, 4&5 are an affront to the intelligence of viewers. Ep 3 seems to have been written by some sophomore exchange student from Denmark. It's like, as if a Netflix production, they only cared about Ep 1 and then farted all over our faces

Something feels very different this season, it's definitely my least favorite so far. It's still very watchable but the jokes aren't landing and the show feels dumber. The meme about having to be smart to like Rick and Morty can go away for good, this season has very little depth and no themes. We're closer to a family guy kind of show than the previous R&M

If the quality of the first episode of season five is at all indicative of what we’ll be seeing the rest of this season, it’s probably a good thing the show’s creators took the time to get it right. The opening salvo of the new season is spectacular: insane joke density, an ever-present silliness brushing up against bad taste, awkward social situations laid bare, and hilariously tearing classic sci-fi and genre conventions a new one.
