    I just don't understand it. Why even use pay to use the "Resident Evil" name and then not make a RE show? You alienate and piss off the RE fans, non-fans will pass, and then you have no one caring. Its a terrible RE show and a subpar meh Zombie show. Everyone loses, no one cares. You shouldn't either.

    This isn't Resident Evil. This is a teen drama with sprinkled zombies to move the drama forward. The writing is quite simply the worst I've seen in any type of format, movie, game or series. The characters are downright unlikable, and I couldn't care less about a forced drama of two obnoxious teens. This was supposed to be Resident Evil, not the OC.

    Yep...would definitely go with the user score on this one. The actors have been robbed by really poor everything else bar a few nice creature effects. And btw, I know we're suspending a good deal of disbelief here anyway, but bullets do not just bounce off vehicles - this isn't the A-Team circa 1983...

    This is bad, i am not review bombing, i genuinely think this is garbage. The characters are boring, The necessity to adapt it to a contemporary audience almost kill it completely. The protagonist is awful. The script is full of unfunny quotes. This is definitely not made for fans of the franchise. Main characters are more than terrible; storyline hops all over the place and makes no sense.     Look there is nothing really bad about the show, but there is a worse fate than being bad, and that is being utterly and completely forgetable. If you are going to carry the weight of the Resident Evil name, you have to do somethiing better than a run of the mill zombie virus movie. Even if this series didn't carry the Resident Evil name it    TL:DR; I am going to cancel my Netflix.

Netflix has done much better zombie movies, and much better virus movies. This was the last thing keeping my sub up, I might renew it when the next season of Castlevania or The Witcher come out, but not for more Resident Evil. I can't get the 3 hours of my life back from the 1st 3 episodes, and if you can't grab attention in the first 3 episodes, then you failed at making a compelling story. Despite some references to the T-virus and obviously Umbrella Corp, this does not feel like RE at all. They could have just named it something else and it would probably be fine.

    I’ve been a lifelong RE fan. Usually I can appreciate each form of RE content, video games, novels, graphic novels, and films and tv shows. But this is the first RE show I would 100% not recommend. Horrible directing, writing, casting and acting

    Incredible to mess like this with a rich universe with multiple star characters.

    But its just a tear in an ocean of mediocrity and maladaptation on purpose i presume.

    This is the first show that qualifies for a negative rating system. If you watched part of the first episode then you deserve damages from Netflix. Diversity and Inclusivity was clearly the only consideration for this series, not writing, plot, or story. -2 / 10

    Ive been a fan of Resident Evil since I was 4 years old. And I understand that this is a completely different story than the games. However, This show is terrible. I just cant get through it. Its not interesting. I just dont care about these characters. Lance is an amazing actor, but as Wesker? Cmon....     I think they did a good job with Wesker and the CGI is spot on but thats it. Story 2/10 and the other cast 1/10. Feels like the story was made up as they went along in a bad way. The back and forth happens WAY too much.

    2 young girls can invade the most dangerous business in the world with just a recording of their father's name ? Security is no where... why should they... they just have mutated horror dogs and other dangerous viruses in their labs. This series is so stupid and make the old cgi stuff from the Milla Jovovich Films look like epic. Some of the Set-designs are nice but it just can't bring you over the fact that the main characters act stupid over and over again. Boring... Lame... Stupid...     Within the first 5 minutes I gathered that the show has a relatively decent budget and yet the showrunners and crew don't have the talent to actually do anything proper with it. There is an air of cringe, corn, and amateurishness around the entire production and it reeks. It produces a very uncomfortable finished product that you just want to turn away from. Then Jade survives a run in with zombies that she should actually die from but the pack of zombies suddenly slows down for some reason and it causes her to only have to deal with one. Whatever.

    From there, we go back in time to a couple of teenage girls and one of the first things we hear is brazenly racist complaint about there being too many white people in this South African location. Whatever.

    From there a bunch of teenage drama stuff happens and I don't care about any of it. What is actually notable is the absolutely AWFUL musical score. Some of the scenes actually could have had tension if the music had been done right. It's totally bizarre how bad it is. Whatever.

    I could go on and on. The woke ideology has utterly ruined Hollywood and everybody with two eyes can see that. Let's go through the pattern that this show fits shall we?

    - Exploit a franchise with a built in fan base and create a product that is completely different. Check.
    - "Strong" women of color that actually come off as obnoxious and way too masculine. Check.
    - Not a single trace of femininity in female characters. Check.
    - Insanely hypocritical "Woke" messaging that openly hates white people. Check.
    - Are men of any color (especially fathers), demonized, put down, or emasculated? Check. I especially love the scene where Dr. Wesker's daughter Jade walks into the house, curses at her father, proceeds to hit his tablet which is on a work call, storms upstairs, and Dr. Wesker being the weak father that he is, literally does NOTHING. No discipline and no discussion about what just happened. Later on, Dr. Wesker openly says that "I'm not much of a father" right in front of his own child. Which is total nonsense because he is a single father who is providing a life of privilege for his children and no self respecting father would say those words in front of his child but whatever.
    - Broken moral code from the writing team who is likely comprised of rich people who live in a Hollywood bubble and have never actually experienced any real hardship. Check. Take for instance the scene where Jade Wesker is rude and makes demands to the man that just helped save her from being killed by a giant caterpillar. Is this supposed to be endearing?
    - Characters being race swapped for no reason? Check.

    I am sure I could make this checklist longer but that covers a lot of it.

    EDIT: I'm on episode 3. Oh. My. GOD. Yes, there are elements of the show that I do like; the lickers in the tunnel and the giant spider. The corrupt FDA/big pharma story elements with Umbrella. However, I want to pull my hair out with Billie and Jade hiding intensely important things from their father. So, I'm supposed to believe that a 14 year old girl would be experiencing intense symptoms after being bitten by an infected dog and would subsequently hide all of it from her father WHO IS A **** DOCTOR and worked on the dog himself. Kids are dumb but they aren't this dumb. Billie would have stayed at home and told her dad everything about what she was experiencing. But no....they have us watch her embarrass herself at school and it's just a total contrivance. I'm done. I can't go on.    … Expand

With great hesitation I will plumb the shallow depths of this show to encourage anyone with even a morsel of integrity to avoid it. The zombies of this show are inconvenience to the producers who take every opportunity to banish them into the background - they are almost an irrelevance. The plot centres around Jade, a charmless lead acted with the skill of an novice am dram who faces banal problems to which she always finds an improbable, camp vintage James Bond esque escape from. It is a formulaic show, boring and impossible to enjoy for anyone who has watched 5 minutes of an apocalypse show or film before. Overall, this show is a disgrace to its name - so bad in fact I felt an overwhelming need to watch the Resident Evil films to cleanse my pallet. I never thought I’d say that.

    Netflix, you might be aiming for a "AAA leader" ESG rating through your shows and movies, but what's the point if nobody wants to watch them? If you always prioritize cookie-cutter social justice "entertainment" production over viewing figures, good stories and good characters, you will fail, no matter how much ESG capital investment you receive.

    I've been a fan of Resident Evil since first playing Resident Evil 2 in 1998. In all the years since I've hoped for a faithful adaptation of the series and yet as it stands today that seems as far away as it ever has. This abysmal "adaptation" is Resident Evil in name only and is a true disgrace to the franchise.

    As a Resident Evil fan of the games since day 1, I can say that this series has once more nothing to do with the soul of the games. It's another action series approach mixed with teenie drama instead of even trying a survival horror series that stick faithful to the games. But why the rating of two? What again is a no go, is what I wrote about that they once more ignored the soul of the resident evil games, and heck why did they had to cast Albert Wesker black? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against black people nor against black actors, but when a character that you know since 1996 is absolutely manifested in the series and you know how he looks like and behave, it's a no go to just drop that and change the character entirely. I mean, I also don't want to see a white morpheus in matrix or a white wesley snipes in blade. Why can't they just stick to the source material? It contains more than enough to make a proper movie... Maybe, hopefully, next time. Never give up hope...… Expand

    Oh yes anyway !!! Don't be ashamed to produce **** like this. It took us literally 10 mins of the 1st episode to realize that the production is completely ****ty and then nothing goes. We held 2 episodes, before the strawberry production, the scenario and the ridiculous scenes as well as the placement of hyper awkward wokism was all the better of our patience.

And let's face it, this only works one way, doesn't it? daptations should be as faithful as possible, not change character's race or gender just to tick boxes, which this definitely is. Relevei os problemas iniciais pra dar uma chance nos outros episódios, mas a direção das cenas e a montagemessa série de Resident Evil na @netflixbrasil é um caso curioso. A Netflix já fez coisa pior, mas não tem como dizer que essa série aqui é boa. Confesso que o primeiro EP me chamou atenção, algo diferente dentro da franquia e que claramente queria um público adolescente. Relevei os problemas iniciais pra dar uma chance nos outros episódios, mas a direção das cenas e a montagem (especialmente o vai e vem das linhas do tempo) são um negócio bem difícil de engolir, pra dizer o mínimo. E a trama não faz sentido suficiente pra vc se envolver. Eu curti o elenco, acho que tem ideias interessantes ali, mas não há uma execução aceitável em quase nada da história que quer ser contada. E aí eu me pergunto: a gente tá assistindo tanta coisa mediana há tanto tempo que acaba engolindo qualquer coisa? Por que eu vi essa série até o fim? Eu posso dizer por mim que, desde que parei de maratonar loucamente algumas séries, consigo digerir melhor defeitos e virtudes de cada uma delas - e pela Netflix ter neste modelo quase uma exigência do modelo de negócio, acho que muitas vezes os defeitos de alguns produtos ficam menos evidentes. E talvez por isso que, raramente, vemos muitos filmes acima da média no serviço.
