I honestly think it's not that bad. There are some nice ideas, good production values, pretty decent acting. I haven't played any of the games and the Milla Jovovich movies were too long ago to remember. So I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised and kept on watching after the first episode ended (which is a good sign for me). Right, so I am a massive fan of zombie shows and have played a fair few of the resident evil games over the years. I had this show on my list but held off on watching it. Give it a chance. Trust me, if it was a snore I'd tell you!!!! Expand

Yes there some plots that annoyed me like in Episode 5 that erk me that lots of shows do. But overall really enjoy the show, it has funny movements, creepy moments and is very entertaining. Expand

Thank you to the creators for a refreshing take on the franchise. If I wanted just the same old story, I would just continue playing the games over and over again. Thank you!

Mostly entertaining series with some very decent acting, especially Wesker, Jade and Billy (as kids). Kept me watching for the whole series, which is admirable in itself. I was ready to hate this show, considering the reviews haven't been positive, and the series has been incredibly controversial in the RE community. As a huge RE fan for my entire life, I really did expect to dislike this. But I absolutely enjoyed it! It's not a faithful adaptation of the games, it's only loosely connected (since it takes place 20 years later), but it still felt like it took place in the RE universe. This series never intended to be a replica or copy of the video games, it always intended to be its own standalone thing, based on the game universe. So I'm not sure why everyone's so angry about that. If you wanted a series that is incredibly similar to the games then that's fine, but rather than reviewing this series for what it's NOT, why not review it for what it IS?

To me, this was a fun series, with great acting, an interesting story, and awesome set pieces. I really enjoyed seeing the two timelines of the story, it was exciting to watch the past of these characters, as they fought through the future apocalypse. The zombies were cool, but most importantly, the monsters were INCREDIBLE! There were so many huge monstrous zombie animals, and all of them were super unique, and REALLY felt like boss battles from the RE games. I loved seeing them all, they looked beyond awesome.

The characters were flawed, and not perfect, but I liked that. It felt like they had room to grow, and it felt like REAL people, rather than just being flawless. The main character especially caused a lot of plot issues because of her flaws, but this was handled in a realistic way, and it was clear that she knew she needed to overcome these issues herself. What more can you ask for in a character? It'd be boring if they were all perfect! The two sisters had an interesting and realistic dynamic in my opinion, and Simon was such a lovely character to watch. Wesker and Evelyn had a great dynamic too, I enjoyed watching their back-and-forth attitudes.

Overall, was this series perfect? Absolutely not. It definitely has room to improve if we get a season 2 (which I'm really hoping for, based on the way season 1 ended!). But I seriously did enjoy watching this series. It was such a fresh and unique take on the RE universe, and was so much better than I expected it to be. I hope that more people will give the series a chance, without being shackled to expecting it to be identical to the video games. Because it's not identical, and it never intended to be. So give it a chance, and you might enjoy it more than you expect! I'd probably rate this a 7.5/10 normally, but I'll round it up to an 8/10 because of the crazy amount of review bombing on here.

I enjoyed the show pretty well. the only critique I have, is that the jumping from 2022 to 2036 was jarring. if they had stuck with one story with minimal flashbacks it would have been better imo. I still give it an 8/10. I don't know why its getting so much hate.

It is not going to win any awards but it is entertaining, despite what the fanboys are crying about.

Takes the RE universe and makes its own thing, but that is too hard for the herd to understand, so they review bomb it, in most cases after watching only 10 mins (if that).

    Fanboys are the Zombies.

Its not bad, but certainly not top of the line. Just good enough to keep me watching.
I feel like fans of Resident Evil are overly critical and unrealistic in their expectations. You expect a sensible storyline, no tropes and no awkward dialog? Have you played the games? There's nothing but nonsense, tropes and awkward dialog in those!

Great special effects, lickers, horrifying spiders, giant bugs, action is impressive and gory and the acting is solid. Personally I think resident evil needed a reboot after the appalling recent movie reboot. Its a good zombie show but wrong of the producers and netflix to wokeify the ip with a black wesker and remove the white characters that to me is racist and why I've not given it a 8.

Definitely better than made out to be by some. As a long time fan I really appreciated a lot of the references to the games. I honestly think that with a second season they could do better.

This is going to be a very unpopular opinion, but this show is way quite good. Very good even. The series has the usual stuff that makes Resident Evil, Resident Evil, in terms of plot. The story is well paced, with some good moments, and easter eggs/callbacks to the games. Most are good and don't feel forced, which is nice.
For the people that think they ruined Wesker, I've got to

For the people that think they ruined Wesker, I've got to disagree, and found Wesker's performance to be the best amongst the crew. The weakest performance had to be Jade and Billie in the 2022 timeline of the show, especially Jade.
It's a good show, that does a good job at using the source material! I enjoyed it!

Most of bad critics are from edgy old men that are angry that some juvenile drama is not about them, or for them.

Solid background entertainment. Though it did take a wrong plot turn at one point IMHO, but no spoilers. Yes, it suffers from Netflix-Disney wokeism. And the two younger daughters were good too.

Also, shows like this need a hygiene update for the Covid age. Covered in blood and you just flop down on the bed. No, you shower first. Other details too -- like a scientist or researcher would never say "that's disgusting" when someone spits into a petri dish

they have created a new story based on video games, they are structuring it very well with quotes here and there. Hopefully in the future, if they have important characters from the video game to appear, they will do it well

Fun albeit cringy at times with some great production values. People disliking this because they don't recognize stuff shows how limited and closed minded the fanbase really is, and I haven't even mentioned the blatant racism against Lance Reddick (who is the best part of the show, by the way). Not everything in this show clicks. The biggest problem is the character of Jade, who is, regrettably, super-annoying in both timelines. ... Most of the show works quite well, however.
