After i saw the trailer i had to force myself to watch it. Expecting some standard Teenage Drama. While it is to a degree it does so with such a refreshing non Hollywood touch and good character development. TL;DR - The low budget that this show had is definitely felt overall with there being just 6 episodes and little to no VFX for a show based on Norse Mythology. Surprisingly the places the budget was spent on like good writing, breath taking location for the setting and believable characters manages to keep you interested and wanting more by the time the finale rolls in.

Surprisingly the places the budget was spent on like good writing, breath taking location for the setting and believable characters manages to keep you interested and wanting more by the time the finale rolls in.

The Good - The cinematography is absolutely astonishing, this works well with the paradise like beauty of the real life locations that this story is supposed to take place in. It manages to give off a beautiful rustic vibe of an ideal small sleepy town in the modern age.
Every performance was good backed up with good character writing, relatable and believable character interactions. Characters you think are going to be clichéd and generic have interesting arcs or hidden traits about their true nature.

The Bad - The show feels very rushed, no doubt from having been mandated to only 6 episodes and probably given a meager budget. The world building also suffers a bit as the amazing location that the show revolves around in does not get the justice it deserves.
It needed at least 8 - 10 episodes to give us a good look and understanding into the whole town as well as get into the characters that populate the world.

Since the characters were rightfully focused on due to budget and episode limitations, the world building and pacing takes a few hits. This feels like an acceptable loss to get an authentic Norse Mythology story into the believable world.
The show manages to hold your attention through out even throwing some curve balls at you from a character writing perspective keeping the experience fresh throughout and ending with us wanting more of these characters and the beautiful locale this show excels in.

É uma série bem no estilo drama e romance adolescente na escola mas com aquela pitada de mitologia nórdica. Não é a série do ano, mas é bem legal de se passar uma tarde assistindo...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I hope they will concentrate on Thors character building. I know background buildup is needed but not too much drama on the other characters. Dont make this a twilight please. And why after receiving his powers he still looks dull and stupid. A dyslexic Thor??? Expand

The show keeps things moving, so it never gets too bogged down in teen angst or ponderous speechifying. But by the penultimate episode, viewers will be wishing Ragnarok would hurry up and resolve its central plot, or at least give a better reason to come back for more. Even at a mere six episodes (five of which were available for review), it feels like a two-hour YA movie expanded past its breaking point.

A novel approach to the usual Norse legend story, and should be fun to watch.
