I don’t even know where to begin... Once again, it’s as though Disney carelessly handed over the beloved Star Wars series to a director who hasn’t even seen one installment. The story and writing lacks in depth, music is horrible (aside from Williams’s pieces) and many of the actors are laughable; Ewan is the only redeeming element. The high inquisitor doesn’t even make it past the second episode, no one knows who the hell Reva is or how she would even know Darth Vader is anakin. There are so many cheesy lines and cracked jokes, you’d think it’s a marvel movie. I honestly got to a point where I was laughing because it was all so absurd. No one catch a slow 10 year old girl, the chase scenes went on forever and apparently the force can now be used to read thoughts? I left a small pocket of hope for this series when I knew Ewan and Hayden would be making a comeback but now I don’t even want to watch the rest for fear that they’ll ruin Vader as well. Directors like Gareth Edwards (rogue one) have proved its not hard to make an authentic, worth while installment, so for the life of me I can’t figure out why Disney keeps handing the reigns to little known directors that have no idea what they’re doing. At this point, it’s all a pathetic cash grab and deeply disappointing.… Expand

This represent's Disney's penultimate failure to understand the Star Wars universe, and furthermore exaggerates that when die-hard fans of the series aren't ultimately in charge of decision making, and give way to studio agenda, franchises will continue to be destroyed by the great unwashed march of corporate greed. This failure is ultimately summarized in the mishandling of the final face off between Vader and Ben. The misguided need for fan service and spectacle undermines the true, and logical narrative. Obi-wan, post the event's of Phantom Menace, as a student of Qui-Gon realised the ineffectiveness of his master's form due to his demise. This casts his character as adaptive and gains him the perogative of furthering himself, and his actions, to prevent further tragedies... After all, he is considered the "Perfect Jedi" by many. It strikes me as not only pathetic, but utterly negligent, why the writers of this series chose to provide him an opportunity to redeem his previous mistake (leaving Vader alive) whilst also depriving him of the only reasonable explanation for doing so (perhaps feeling Anakin is redeemable) as he accepts that Anakin is dead and only Vader now exists. As to why he allowed Vader to live is a metaphor for the failure of this series, they don't seek to create a coherent and logical storyline, they only wish to shoehorn in characters between main story lines for monetary gain. It goes without saying, if Obi-Wan truley was the adaptive "perfect Jedi" set up by the sequels, he would have no choice, nay, no issue with striking down Vader to destruction if he had the chance. He did have the chance in the series, and thus this exemplifies the absolute detriment this series has on the overall world, and subsequent storylines. Reva was also an exceptionally shallow character and the series gave the impression it should have been named "Reva: and Obi-Wan story" more than anything else. Terrible. 2/5. I would award it 1/5, but Ewans is such a treasure he ad's a point.… Expand

Firstly the acting isnt great, storyline pathetic, costumes etc not worthy of the star wars franchise, The young Leia is supposed to be 10 but looks about 6 and the chasing scenes are just ridiculous (hence the power rangers example as well as the costumes). Suprised that nobody has really picked up on the fact that according to leia in the new hope she didnt know obi wan as he served under her father in the clone wars, well it turns out she had forgotten … Expand

Its what you'd expect from a Disney Star Wars show.

The writing is so bland and feels like its written to robotically serve scenes, as if they were in an office like "Hey we need these characters to have some conflict with each other" butIts what you'd expect from a Disney Star Wars show.

The writing is so bland and feels like its written to robotically serve scenes, as if they were in an office like "Hey we need these characters to have some conflict with each other" but then add the most basic surface level reasoning for having said conflict.

The action scenes are entirely nonsensical and terribly shot, it will have you laughing at how bad it is. Like every other scene, it feels like it was shot in a bluescreen with wires. There was a parkour scene that was so weirdly slow and sluggish and was painfully obvious that wires were used.

Vader was cool because hes not very hard to mess up, but even then the writing brings him down a lot. This show just retcons a bunch of things that are said in episode 4 which just throws continuity out the window

This show, like every other star wars show has absolutely no reason to exist and Obi Wan would be much better off without it.… Expand

It's so simple. You have to be a extremely bad writer/director/producer to make something so great so bad. It's also extremely unethical to take someone's life's work and change the source material with such disrespect. Then, just to make everything so much worse, you add on top of that fan baiting. Fan Baiting is done on purpose to not only stir up controversy for publicity but also serves as a barrier to real criticism and ensures that the show will succeed because if anyone has a different opinion, they will just be labeled as a "racist/sexist/transphobe/etc." and their opinion is ignored. It's a method to make everyone think you're virtuous when really you're just a horrible person spreading hate with anyone who has a different opinion than your own. You act like you're fighting fascism by spreading and using fascism. It's hypocrisy in action.… Expand

Upon first glance, the whole series appears tragically horrible and can only be viewed as a cheap parody. There are some exceptionally bad scenes, such as when two green monsters chase a girl in the second episode – it's embarrassing and stupid.

The portrayal of the inquisitors, specifically the white man with implants and the black woman, seems like something only a very young and impressionable mind or a diseased one could produce. It's difficult to imagine these roles being done worse or more stupidly. This bottom line signifies the bad state of the whole industry.

One can't help but ask themselves and the creators of this series, "How is it possible to do something like this with the Star Wars universe? Why does it even exist?" These questions repeat themselves, episode after episode, moment after moment on the screen.

Why is the end product of the film production company so bad? What caused them to create such a strange, very, very, very stupid, and cheap-looking movie? Why did they make it?

Did they do it just for money? Can't they find any other ways to feed their families? Or are they all sick with mental disorders and other mental health issues that prevent them from being objective and productive at work?

Who allowed these actors to play these roles? How did that happen? Who was reviewing the shooting? How come these main plane roles are so stupid and unprofessional?

The girl playing the dark inquisitor is overplaying her role with brutality in her voice, which is super cringe. The white hypnotizer, who looks like a Sith, is wack when trying to play the mesmerizer, like a stupid scammer similar to the one pretending to be a Jedi in the second episode.

The whole crew and all actors, as a whole, seem like that scammer. That is their collective image. If you could make a persona out of the whole production process and final result analysis, that would be it.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ is not a movie about the Jedi, and it cannot be considered a real Star Wars universe movie. It's a pure lore and fanfic product, not a genuine continuation or extension of the original Star Wars. It's merely made to play with the lore, use the atmosphere and some parts of the initial story as the environment to be in.

However, one can't help but question, who are these newcomers? Do they deserve to play with such a great universe? Perhaps only at Comic-Con but not in real life.

Why was this series even made? It seems like it was only created to make some money without any passion or care for the Star Wars franchise. The actors are only concerned about their salary and their own careers, with no real interest in the story. It's disappointing that no one seems to care about Star Wars anymore.

Although the series has some interesting details, characters, and events from the Star Wars universe, it ultimately feels more cringe than genuinely interesting. Unfortunately, this seems to be a trend in recent Hollywood, Marvel, Netflix, and Disney Plus series. The global culture influenced by American movies is lowering the standard for quality entertainment.

The 3D episode with the yellow door opening robot leaves an ambiguous impression, much like the series as a whole. The robot is well-designed, but lacks any real personality. The creators were too lazy to invest time into developing its character, which is disappointing compared to iconic robots like C3PO or R2D2 from the original movies.

The portrayal of Darth Vader in the third episode is more comical than terrifying, as if they were trying to create a meme rather than a serious movie. It's a missed opportunity to create something genuinely science fiction and futuristic in the Star Wars universe.

The main hero, Obi-Wan, is a disappointment. He lacks the wisdom and maturity that you would expect from someone with the name Obi-Wan Kenobi. Instead, he seems like an always-frightened man with a lot of doubts, which is not what viewers want to see. It's possible that the actor himself was unsure of his role and the whole project, which comes across in his performance.

The director and background scene makers may have felt proud of their work, but the overall result feels rough, fast, and brutal. It's as if they were more concerned with their own egos than creating a quality production.

In conclusion, this series feels like a missed opportunity to create something truly great in the Star Wars universe. Despite some interesting elements, it ultimately falls short of expectations.… Expand

Skip Episodes 1-4 and go directly to 5 and 6. If you thought Kenobi had failed Anakin, then prepare yourself to see him fail asn The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker we had Jake Skywalker, now we got Jake Kenobi. This show is almost a slap in the face of the character Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you thought Kenobi had failed Anakin, then prepare yourself to see him fail as Luke's protector as well. But also prepare yourself to understand why Vader was right when he said in A New Hope "Your powers are weak old man". This Kenobi doesn't feel like a Jedi. He doesn't even act as a Jedi. And ten years since Revenge of the Sith he has really let himself go. You even get to understand, but at the same time be shocked, by the revelation as to why neither Luke or Leia were trained earlier as soon as they started to show signs of their Force abilities. Kenobi doesn't feel like a Jedi and the Inquisitors... Those definitely do not feel like anything. I honestly couldn't care less about Reva, or whatever is the axe she has to grind with Kenobi. If anything Reva serves no real purpose except to make Kenobi look bad at everything he does. There's nothing salvageable about this show. Nothing worth watching. No cameo appearance of Vader will save this disaster. If anything it will only ruin the lore and story of the original trilogy. If you have followed Star Wars from the beginning. If you have read or played most of the material. If you're a hardcore fan of Star Wars then the first thing you'll notice, if you don't let the hype blind you, is that this is not Star Wars. It may try to look like it, it may use the same names, but it's definitely not Star Wars. And to think that Disney/Lucasfilm could fail so miserably with a character that has so much potential. Was I surprised that the show was not good? No. Was I surprised that the show was this bad? A little. Yes. This is something only for those that are just blind followers of the character, that don't care at all what they're being given as long as they're being given something.… Expand

Dearth Vader can force grab ObiWan but can cross the fire or grab him again before the droid drags him from the flames??? "How old are you?"-Ben to Leia, seriously??? You've been watching Luke for 10 years, they're twins.

CGI can't make up for the lackluster settings, I'd rather watch the prequels, this is bad. Dialogue is worse than a preteens diary.

I want to like this, I really do. I like Ewan McGregor, and seeing Darth Vader again, but this is garbage.

Don't think the show is good because of the positive reviews. Disney bots and reylos brigaded to positive review this.… Expand

The overacting is cringy, the situations are unbelievable, and the writers don't seem to understand human characteristics or societal nature, instead substituting a strictly one dimensional superficiality in its viewpoint of what a story arc should be. I find it sad that Disney wasted our time with a recap only to showcase how ridiculously drastic they can make characters change in order to be a slave to that previously mentioned one dimensional story arc.

Maybe they should have spent more time in the lab, with a pen and a pad, taking notes on the multitude of references they had in the form of Star Wars books.… Expand

In Second Ep. she can mind read and can sense Obi-Wan because the bad writing demands it. In Third Ep. She can even teleport. Dont ask me how you will see. Nothing makes sense, never, the plot constantly contradicts everything that was said and done both in the Original Trilogy and in the Prequel Trilogy, old characters that have always behaved in a certain manner suddenly became something else entirely in this series, the new ridiculously uninteresting and incredibly poorly written characters are the real protagonists of the entire thing, outshining what should be the two stars, Vader and Obi-Wan and the action scenes are worthless and badly choreographed.
The entire show feels like it was written, directed and edited by a 5 year old and that is mostly because in pure Kennedy/SJW fashion, the appointed director was chosen merely because it was a woman, instead of the talent and it show: the goddamn camera shakes furiously 90% of time as if we were watching some mocumentary and the vast majority of the shots are complete trash.
Soundtrack is awful, poorly composed and doesn't create any sort of emotion, just like the rest, and there is barely any hint at the masterpiece of John Williams.
Overall, this is easily on par with the Sequel Trilogy for how ugly, useless, badly written and full of filler characters it is, with the stark difference that THIS have Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in it and still manages to not only be trash, but also make the two most beloved Star Wars characters look like complete morons.… Expand

Obi wan was a wise man, but in this show, they make him look like an idiot.(and we all know why, spoilers: because he's a man, men are dumb and useless allright.. )

How did Reva know where Leia is? No explanation.. How did Reva know that Luke is Vader's son? No idea.. Also, Reva's plans make no sense in the show. Then there's 10 year old girl, Leia, outrunning grown men(because men are dumb and useless).. Vader kills Reva.. but she survives.. Vader kills Reva again.. but no, she survives miraculously again.. And, after years of murdering people, Reva "redeemes" herself in the end.. Well, actually one good deed doesn't erase countless bad ones.. but hey this is Disney "star wars" and women can do no wrong..

Convenience is the word here folks..

Anyway, the plot is terrible, that's all you need to know..… Expand

It should be named "reva the third sister" considering she's the driving force behind the narrative of the entire plot. They wrote obi wan into a bumbling beta male that gets led around by the nose by a 10 year old Leia the entire time. So many plot holes plague the show, I mean absolute laughable Scooby Doo type plot holes. It completely neglects the characters it's supposed to be focused on. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disney has done Obi-Wan a disservice with 'Kenobi'. A prime example of the creative bankruptcy running rife through Western cinema and television. The writing for this show is appalling, especially considering the talent Disney can afford. Logic is thrown out the window and key details are not explained sufficiently meaning main plot points happen for....'reasons' rather than making sense and being well thought out. Evil characters are unnecessarily incompetent and Obi-Wan is relegated to being a side character in his own show at times. The directing style is also a mess. Numerous scenes play out as comedic when they are supposed to be serious. Examples of this include the chase scene in the forest where grown adults are unable to catch a child and are stopped by a small branch. Or when Obi-wan is walking through an imperial base with Leia under a great coat which numerous imperial personnel do not notice - it seems like a scene from 'Austin Powers'. Again, at no point has someone stopped to think, does this logically and realistically make sense. Yes it is a sci-fi but you need to ground your show in reality to make the setting believable. The cinematography is poor, often contrast is turned down so the scene is overly dark. Generally, it feels cheap overall as if the series was rushed. Surprising considering this story features Kenobi/Vader story.

Acting ranges from decent to laughable. Ewan McGregor does his best with a bad script. Moses Ingram acting is awful, she literally has one setting - angry and even that isn't convincing. Vivien Blair is competent but the writing for her character makes her unlikeable and annoying (this isn't the actresses fault).

Overall, a wasted opportunity that could have been so much more but let down by poor directing and writing.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to enjoy this, I really did. However Disney makes me abhor what Star Wars has become.

It started off so promising and crashed and burned without offering a single new insight.

There are so many illogical fallicies with the whole series, Obi-Wan should have told Bail Organa to go swivel as Bail failed in his mission to protect Leia on a planet he ran where there were many guards to protect her. Thus enforcing Obi-Wan into action and leaving Luke exposed with no real protection.

The series then meandered on with what felt like at least 4 filler episodes, during which we learned Obi-Wan can't keep his cover, he can't walk around a gate exposed at both sides and thinks walking through a hangar as a 4 legged hunchback is a good way of not being noticed by Imperials hunting for you; so much for wise old Obi-Wan.

We also learn Leia is suddenly a tech genius which was never shown when the Millennium Falcon had its numerous issues and she later has no memory of Obi-Wan come a New Hope, figure that one out.

Then we get onto Reva, a character that tries to torture a child for information despite knowing this child has had no involvement with this underground as Reva had set up this kidnapping.

Then later it turns out Reva is working against Vader because he killed Jedi and younglings. So in order to enact out her revenge and get close to Vader she kills Jedi and younglings...???

Anyway Reva allegedly "redeems" herself in the last episode; saving a child by not deciding to go through with their murder because now attempted murder is suddenly an admiral trait and heroic now.

Also anyone notice how Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru hold their own against a very dangerous and skilled Inquisitor but can't fend off Stormtroopers that can't shoot for toffee. I was stunned considering it's only 6 years between this and A New Hope.

I will say there were flickers of potential like Vader brutalising Obi Wan and being such a vicious tyrant in a few scenes but at the same time he failed to finish off Reva which seemed really out of step with the character. Also the lightsaber battles felt forced and poorly blocked in each encounter Vader had with Obi-Wan. On top of that he flashback scenes making Hayden look like an old man pretending to be a younger man felt a bit sad to see really.

Qui Gon turning up at the end was great but why couldn't we have started with that and had Qui Gon training Obi Wan to be one with the living force as the overarching story and eventually coming to blows with Vader without the silly kidnapping angle.

Instead what we got was repeated remnants of Episode III with no further character development and more plots holes that further muddy up the lore.

Unfortunately this series fails to offer any new insights into the characters that we didn't previously know.

Its a very badly written tale that had characters acting against their own best interests and the plot was quite choppy at times but this all made sense when I looked at the calibre of the writers and their previous projects.

It's sad to see Star Wars failing on such a level that with each new Star Wars story brought to screen, it becomes more watered down and the prequels suddenly seem better in comparison.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best thing about this series is the acting is fairly solid all round. It's just a shame the writers gave them nothing to work with. Obi-Wan is reduced to a pathetic version of himself and abandons his only job in episode one, Leia has no character growth (it would have been nice to see how she becomes headstrong and grows into the awesome woman she becomes) and Reva's plan for revenge only works because everyone reacts precisely as they need to to make it happen. Don't even get me started on her motivation ... she's spent the last 10 years killing men women and children just to get close to Vader to revenge the killing of men women and children. The most apathetic writing of any Star Wars show to date. Such a shame. It has a few fan service moments which are nice to enjoy but it could have been so much more. Disney are just churning out content, it's not art anymore.… Expand

Once again, the Disney show is boring yet feels preachy. Legacy characters don't retain a shred of dignity and it generally feels ... just badly written. A waste of time.

Under Disney, Star Wars is dead. They are so creatively bankrupt, so grotesquely woke that the shows/movies are an utter joke. They have no respect for the lore or the legacy characters or the fans. The absolute worst Star Wars thing I’ve ever seen. They messed up obi wans return, incredible. Cette nouvelle série fait le lien entre l’épisode III et IV de la saga… on y suit un Obi-Wan esseulé, traqué par l’Empire et notamment un certain Dark Vador… Mais avant cela (c’est-à-dire jusqu’à la moitié) on suit surtout trois guignols (desCette nouvelle série fait le lien entre l’épisode III et IV de la saga… on y suit un Obi-Wan esseulé, traqué par l’Empire et notamment un certain Dark Vador… Mais avant cela (c’est-à-dire jusqu’à la moitié) on suit surtout trois guignols (des « Inquisiteurs ») dont une actrice noire très méchante aussi peu crédible que caricaturale, qui sort d’on ne sait où et qui a bien du mal avec son « personnage » aussi caricatural que…. peu crédible et fruit d’un agenda woke progressiste.

C’est qu’ici, à part Obi-Wan (bien campé par McGregor) et Vador (Christensen de retour sous le masque) tout sonne étonnamment faux et sent le réchauffé… En effet, dans The Mandolorian, le casqué trimbalait bébé Yoda et là… c’est Kenobi qui promène la gamine Leia dans toute la galaxie, une gamine tout aussi mal caractérisée que le reste, et accessoirement une pisseuse insupportable et ridicule.

Les deux derniers épisodes de la série (sur les six seulement) signent l’effondrement d’un scénario qui part en vrille et qui nous sert en toute décontraction des rebondissements complètement aberrants… on n’en revient pas : c’est vraiment n’importe quoi !

Malgré une réalisation et des effets spéciaux de bon aloi (pour une série s’entend), « Obi-Wan Kenobi » loupe donc le coche et bien des opportunités de développement des enjeux à venir entre la prélogie (déjà bâclée par Geroges, le nain de jardin lui-même) et la trilogie originale. Bref, un non-évènement en soi, résultat de l’ogre Disniais toujours prompt à salir toutes les licences dont il dispose… malgré ici ou là quelques bonnes idées lors des deux premiers épisodes mais qui font long feu, hélas.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Dumbest chase scenes in the history of cinema. In this universe, 10 year old kids have the sprinting power of a doped up olympic athlete. Villains are stopped by cloth awnings and small fires they could easily circumvent.

This show must of been produced by people with an institutional loathing for the human race. Proof? Despite seeing all the death and destruction wrought by Vader, Obi-Wan spares his life a SECOND TIME. Nonsensical to the extreme. It would have been so much more interesting to conceive of a scene where they were unable to fight and had some stimulating dialogue instead.

Most of the acting falls in the subpar to embarrassing range with the ironically enough the best performance coming from a brief cameo from Ewan McGregor's IRL daughter. I would say her performance, the Jedi vs Storms at the beginning and the second V vs. Obi Wan duel are the only redeeming moments in this otherwise insulting endeavour.

I DO NOT consider this steaming, heaping pile of garbage canon. Instead, it should be relegated to the trash compactor.… Expand

Whoo boy. This is a bad show. Nonsensical and deranged for nearly its entire runtime, with the episodes getting worse as they go. Another story that did not need to be told that continues to cheapen what Star Wars used to be.

Like they already surrounded the planet of the rebels, how in the world did the ship escape??? Or how come the third sister didn't die from getting stabbed??? It's so ridiculous.… Expand

That's the plot Disney sends us on for the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series. True, it has everything that belongs to Star Wars: lightsabers, the Force, Jedi, Darth Vader and the sands of Tatooine. But a real "Star Wars feeling" still doesn't come up. The series lacks the right music and size in its production - everything is as small as possible. Kenobi is a broken hero when we see him again in the first episode. The old white man has resigned, and only in the course of the plot does he regain his strength. The producers don't take the canon too seriously: Luke and Kenobi already meet here and the flashbacks between Anakin and Kenobi are supposed to give more depth to the conflict between the two characters, but they seem rather ridiculous. We all know how it ends between Obi and Darth Vader and who defeats Darth Vader in the end, why try to build suspense here where there is none? Hayden Christensen is too old as a young Anakin and Ewan McGregor is too young as Kenobi, considering he's the age of Sir Alec Guinness in Episode IV... there's a lot wrong with that. In general, the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but Vivien Lyra Blair as Leia outplays everyone. The series seems as if the only intention was to attract more subscribers to Disney+ with the big name "Obi-Wan Kenobi". With the thin plot, the desperate attempt to fit into the big story arcs, and the struggling actors, success is doubtful. Obi is one of the great characters in the Star Wars universe, and he deserves a better series with a more innovative plot. "The Clone Wars" has told so many good stories around Obi - that's the benchmark. And the new series fails completely.… Expand

Coincidentally that falls in line perfectly with Disney crying on social media about negative review bombing. Coincidence? Pretty sure almost all of those 10's are paid for by Disney. Check the amount of of users that find those "positive reviews" actually helpful... So yeah, the 10's are pretty much guaranteed to be false though some libtards might be responsible for those scores too.

Anyway the show is terrible and the bad scores have nothing to do with racism. Star Wars always had people of color and nobody had an issue with that. People are pissed at the bad writing, run of the mill special effects, redundant plot, mediocre acting and the ridiculous amount of agenda being shoved down their throats. Breaking the canon on numerous ocasions doesn't help either. Also the show is focusing on 3 strong women instead of our titular Jedi so we're dealing with a classic bait and switch. Let's not forget about the ridiculous fight in the last episode. There's not a single thing of quality in this show.… Expand

It just sucks how Disney doesn’t understand star wars at all. Beyond that, the directing and editing was just bad. The action and light saber fights sucked. The light saber fights were in pitch black to hide that fact that the sequences were lazy. I wouldn’t recommend.… Expand

DO NOT watch this if you like the original trilogy, the plot is embarrassing and extremely bad. The characters are either super uninteresting and poorly written or simply not themselves (Vader & Obi-wan).
