A strong theme of sexual perversions and drug use hidden beneath layers of cyber terror and conspiracies. All of these winning elements are sent into the stratosphere on the shoulders of Ramy Malek's PERFECT performance. I hope to God Hollywood is taking notice of a legend being born right in front of us. Now that I've established the fact that the show is perfect, I need to point something out. All of the negative user reviews are referencing how offended the viewers are by the subject matter of the show. (S&M, gay sex, drug use, etc.) This is a testament to how stupid most people are and how USA is striving to get better content. We live in the Golden Age of Television and FX and AMC are dominating the basic cable programming. A&E released Bates Motel to keep up. History did Vikings. Now USA wants a piece of the action and they chose wisely. Now your typical USA viewer was expecting something "fun for the whole family" and terrible like Royal Pains, and what they got was Mr, Robot. If you're an adult and you can handle non-Christian views in your programming then enjoy. If you're a monster D, don't bother. This show is way above your pay grade. Expand

My only issue with the show is the lack of logic behind the fact that he buys drugs in person, instead of through the Darknet/Tor which he mentions on the show, yet never addresses why he, an addict hacker, doesn't buy drugs off of it. While I get the fact that it adds a meaningful relationship and plot line to the show, it doesn't make sense for him to not use something that is safer, more reliable, and completely inline with his profession and lifestyle.

In fact, the pilot gives you the big "no idea" at all. It's just storytelling each character. And, I like it. It's simple and focus. Really deserved great score.
Rami Malek handled the character in safest mode. The character like Elliot if they act in a wrong way, it can turn into looks idiotic, stumble, and not attractive character. But, Rami Malek gave the pilot a brilliant stare-eyes and unstable emotions that whoever seeing Elliot will be wonders.
Even though, it's still need development for the action of hacking shoots because it was really absurd, I was kind of startled and have no idea what was he doing or talk in that moment. Thank goodness it's really quick scene. I do love the cinematography, except the hacking-solving thingy. I'm really not yet interest to find who's this Mr Robot team, actually. I'm interest with this E Corp, thing. I want to know more. It's really a fresh idea. I mean, since Halt and Catch Fire. So yes, no matter what, the hacking will always be the main. I wish they can develop the hacking war scenes more interest.
I like the coloring of the whole pilot that looks cloudy. In my eyes, it's enchanted. Elliot's mind thoughts, his voice also was comforting. I like the screenplay. It's so nerd and bring sensitive issues about personality. I kept tweeting while watching the whole through the episode because it gives me a lot of things to talk about *in nerd themes*.
I really like Tyrell Wellick's character. The first scene he talked with Elliot, he's so bring me lots of questions of who is this character and was he matter or is he going to be Elliot's buddy or foe. Then, we know the end of the pilot, gives me a wonderland of him. Great cliffhanger.
It's not like Halt and Catch Fire, thank goodness. I wish the story gets more interesting like other tv series that have the same coloring theme like Orphan Black, Hannibal, and Damages.

The series hits the network on June 24, but the first episode is now readily available On Demand, at the IMDb and USA websites, and I am sure at many other places. Somebody is doing an excellent job of promoting this show though I only spotted it today.

Christian Slater is ostensibly the star of the show, but in that first episode, the real star of the show is Rami Malek, previously unknown to me though he has been in a number of feature films. Malek’s low-keyed performance is just right for his brilliant, but socially inept, character. The rest of the cast, certainly including Mr. Slater, does a fine job too.

Another major star of the show is writer, Sam Esmail, who has managed to make information technology and hacking exciting and suspenseful. I checked him out on IMDb, finding only a short list of what appear to be non-stand-out movies before the TV series of Mr. Robot appears.

I am not crazy about the title of “Mr. Robot”. The word “robot” has been tied to too many mediocre TV shows and movies for it to be an asset. But, if you react negatively to it, do NOT let that push you away from this series. Let’s hope that Mr. Esmail, Mr. Malek, et al can maintain the intensity and fascination level of the first episode.

Half the plot is an exposition of a critique of capitalism which is used as justification to destroy the banking system. This has already been done in Fight Club, it was just done better in Fight Club. The other half simply focuses on the means by which to accomplish the goal - hacking (rather than explosives). The series has so far been unoriginal because of this.

The lead is a solid actor but his love interest is a caricature, and so is her boyfriend. The plot has been rather one dimensional - basically the main character falling through a rabbit hole into a new world. Nothing terrible about this but nothing original. Also - and perhaps this is the point the writers are making, the character used as the criticizer of society is no angel himself - he is a drug addicted, mentally ill womanizer who deems himself to be judge, jury and executioner of all injustice in the world. Perhaps people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The problem that the plot faces is the same problem that Fight Club faced and it is the fundamental problem with all Marxist rhetoric - what happens after the grand revolution and why is this brave new world better than the one in which we live? Why is it worth fighting for? Fight Club had a poor ending - a bunch of buildings falling down - probably a lot of people losing their jobs and their lives. Revolutions have inherently bloody characters and always end up with a new order that just oppresses different people in different ways (see: France; Russia). The writers are going on a Marxist and egalitarian crusade - they provide valid criticisms of society but offer little in the way of solutions. If the writers are going to improve the show over Fight Club, they should consider this.

Overall, the show has thus far been unoriginal but decently executed.
