Outstanding and strong performance from Rami Malek. Brilliant and powerful story from Sam Esmail! I have never been hooked like that by a tv series. You can to a certain measure relate to Elliot but like him, you never know what will happen. Psychologically sick, this tv show deserves its Emmy's!

This show is one that will spark your mental fires and leave you questioning your own motivations in

This character, Elliot, is really drawing me in. He's so fantastically flawed, beautifully destructive, sane and insane. By the time you're on episode four, the confusion somewhat kicks in. This is okay though, as each character is slowly becoming themselves in the show and synchronizing. I can tell how each character is going to intertwine for the most part - but Elliot is the main attraction. I believe there are people out there who are like him; snorting Morphine 30's and taking Suboxone so he doesn't withdraw - a computer genius and natural poet, and a complete sociopath who abuses his power over computers and the internet to understand the human condition and even himself. This show is well worth your time; I think even the older crowds (I'm 22) - so basically people who would be my parents, can learn something from this show. They can catch a glimpse of what we're all really like: Sociopathic internet nerds who tweet and text and share, passing information around this sterile country as if it's the very air we breath. This show captures the current zeitgeist, or overall spirit of the times - Elliot is just the extremity, of course. I give this show a 10/10 Expand

An original TV show tackling important social topics. The main character portrays issues like depression and loneliness that are not talked about often on TV (and in real life?). Meanwhile the whole premise of the show is a commentary on modern problems - corporate corruption, income inequality, greed, etc. One of the only main characters that I can actually relate to in a way.

It's hard to believe this is a USA show. The cinematography and production quality are top notch. The subject matter might not be accessible to everyone, but for those of us who have been waiting for a show centered around modern technology without it falling into laughable "for dummies" level dialogue, it's pretty much perfect.

But then there's the Marxist philosophy aspect, and the modern dystopia angle, all set to obscure electronica and forgotten schmindie from the 80s. It is both like and unlike anything you will see on TV.

A strong plot with absurd twists, inventive and gorgeous cinematography, and a stellar cast mixing experienced and debutant actors, the only question is if the quality can be maintained.

My only issue with the show is the lack of logic behind the fact that he buys drugs in person, instead of through the Darknet/Tor which he mentions on the show, yet never addresses why he, an addict hacker, doesn't buy drugs off of it. While I get the fact that it adds a meaningful relationship and plot line to the show, it doesn't make sense for him to not use something that is safer, more reliable, and completely inline with his profession and lifestyle.

I've now had a chance to watch the entire first season of Mr. Robot, and I have to say that despite the weird cyber-speak dialogue, I loved the way it created these bizarre strands of complexity and through the skillful manipulation of the screenplay along with great direction it managed to twist and turn those strands into a very impressive basket of intrigue and suspense. I hope to God Hollywood is taking notice of a legend being born right in front of us. Now that I've established the fact that the show is perfect, I need to point something out. All of the negative user reviews are referencing how offended the viewers are by the subject matter of the show. (S&M, gay sex, drug use, etc.) This is a testament to how stupid most people are and how USA is striving to get better content. We live in the Golden Age of Television and FX and AMC are dominating the basic cable programming. A&E released Bates Motel to keep up. History did Vikings. Now USA wants a piece of the action and they chose wisely. Now your typical USA viewer was expecting something "fun for the whole family" and terrible like Royal Pains, and what they got was Mr, Robot. So far, I think this could have been a really amazing 2 hour movie instead of a TV series. I fear this will be a show that gets a strong following so USA won't end it when the story should end, so they will add all kinds of non-sense to keep the show alive. We've been given a small and wonderful set of characters to follow, but I could see countless episodes trying to build character depth and backstory which for this particular brand of show isn't needed. If they stay on the main path of Elliot hating Evil Corp, I'll stick around but if I keeps going down the path episode 2 - 4 have been on, I'll lose interest really fast. It reminds me a lot of ABCs recently ended "Revenge". It was a show that should have ended about 2 or 3 seasons sooner than it did, but since it pulled ratings they had to keep making up content, and Mr.Robot could be on the same path. The only thing I didn't like, is that the show diluted its main storyline and objective by adding subplots like Sheila and Elliot's therapist. Perhaps if the season could've been two episodes shorter, everything could've been more tightly packed and it would've made this a perfect season.

Episode 8 is undoubtedly the stand out of the season.

I really like this show. I didn't see Season 1 while on USA so I binged it on Amazon and it's very well done.

Usually television shows either give you too much or too little in the first year to try and hook you, this is one show that was done in such a way that rewards the binge.
As an example it took forever (to me it seems) for Slater to show up but when he did, it was timely and not in some way where he dominates the screen. The pacing was fantastic.
Overall, if this show doesn't last six seasons, I be extremely surprised.

It's like you're reading a book, the pilot was amazing. It represents the whole main characters, you really want to know them but also you want to know what's the main problem or where this whole series will develop to.
In fact, the pilot gives you the big "no idea" at all. It's just storytelling each character. And, I like it. It's simple and focus. Really deserved great score.
Rami Malek handled the character in safest mode. The character like Elliot if they act in a wrong way, it can turn into looks idiotic, stumble, and not attractive character. But, Rami Malek gave the pilot a brilliant stare-eyes and unstable emotions that whoever seeing Elliot will be wonders.
Even though, it's still need development for the action of hacking shoots because it was really absurd, I was kind of startled and have no idea what was he doing or talk in that moment. Thank goodness it's really quick scene. I do love the cinematography, except the hacking-solving thingy. I'm really not yet interest to find who's this Mr Robot team, actually. I'm interest with this E Corp, thing. I want to know more. It's really a fresh idea. I mean, since Halt and Catch Fire. So yes, no matter what, the hacking will always be the main. I wish they can develop the hacking war scenes more interest.
I like the coloring of the whole pilot that looks cloudy. In my eyes, it's enchanted. Elliot's mind thoughts, his voice also was comforting. I like the screenplay. It's so nerd and bring sensitive issues about personality. I kept tweeting while watching the whole through the episode because it gives me a lot of things to talk about *in nerd themes*.
I really like Tyrell Wellick's character. The first scene he talked with Elliot, he's so bring me lots of questions of who is this character and was he matter or is he going to be Elliot's buddy or foe. Then, we know the end of the pilot, gives me a wonderland of him. Great cliffhanger.
It's not like Halt and Catch Fire, thank goodness. I wish the story gets more interesting like other tv series that have the same coloring theme like Orphan Black, Hannibal, and Damages.

It’s as if development meetings to create new series have been reduced to the first five minutes of an improvisational group act; a random down, verb and perhaps an adjective or two and you have a premise. For the USA basic cable network they’ve always marketed themselves as the network with ‘characters’ by which they mean it take the basic shows that were used to and change one of the leads into a very quirky person such as the detective with OCD or detective who pretends he’s a psychic only mother and daughter team of bounty hunters. While the essence of this stated mandate is true it comes down to soccer moms exchanging recipes for tuna casserole, what into ingredients might be a bit different but it is basically the same side dish. Then, last year, they premiered a series that immediately caught my eye; ‘Mr. Robot’. I could tell by the promo that it had something to do with computer hackers and it seemed to start Christian Slater, and after that always enjoyed watching. When I noticed a few other familiar faces I was admittedly intrigued so that when it showed up on my current television series to review queue I was rather anxious to begin watching.
In the past I’ve gotten into a series that held a significant amount of promise only to see it canceled, often before the last episode of the season could be broadcast so the more I continued getting into it and came to enjoy it the greater my fear that would be unceremoniously canceled. Thankfully that is not occur in the second season will be starting very soon. The most important thing about this series is that in the 10 episodes that comprise season one the show never disappoints, not even for one single moment. It is intellectually challenging delving into the strange world of black hat hackers but not in the usual ‘techno geek’ stories we have become used to lately. It is usually very easy to assign a general genre to television series but in this case it overlaps quite a few and does so in such a way that it excels in each category it encompasses. The one that comes most readily to mind as apropos for the show is it is a mystery and one unlike anything you’ve seen on television.
Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) is a computer savant able to look at a programs code and ascertain not only how it works but more importantly he’s able to uncouple flaws potential to be exploited. You can also tell a lot about the mindset of the program because Elliott programming code is just an extension of language and just as you can tell a lot about a person by how they speak and the choices of their words, Elliott can readily separate kindred spirits were consumed by computer programming in the corporate lackeys is churning out code driven by a need to meet a deadline. It has a psychological price to pay for his computer wizardry, he is all clueless but it comes to interpersonal relationships in any social setting. He has had one friend with stayed with them for most of his life, Angela Moss (Portia Doubleday) was much better adjusted socially albeit with a few insecurities of her own. They both work for computer security company, Allsafe Cybersecurity; Elliott helps Angela when she is over the head with the technical aspects of her job. Allsafe’s largest client, and the main reason they are be able to stay in business. They are multinational conglomerate that is fundamentally the epitome of the military industrial complex. Their corporate logo is a giant slanted letter ‘E’, similar to Enron a few years ago. Elliot’s mind he always refers to it as the ‘Evil Corporation’. Just one of their functions happens to be [maintaining] most of them were major banks.
Psychologically Elliott is barely able to hold onto reality. He has regular appointments with the court ordered psychiatrist, Krista Gordon (Gloria Reuben), was generally concerned with them particular that he is not made significant progress in all the time that he is the patient. Primarily she is treating him for clinical depression and social anxiety one of the major aspects of Elliott’s life is he is addicted to morphine. He tries to balance off the effects of that drug by abusing another, suboxone, which helps with withdrawal symptoms from morphine. There are a lot of people who deal with that drug on the street Elliott is particularly concerned with is one connection, Shayla Nico (Frankie Shaw) was also nominally his girlfriend; a drug deal with benefits.
One day Elliott runs into a man who appears cheerful enough is always dressed in cloth jacket emblazoned with a patch that reads, ‘Mr. Robot’. Despite an affable demeanor Mr. Robot Is Exceptionally Focused on Recruiting Elliott into His Group Both hacktivists, fsociety. Their goal is to have the most significant redistribution of wealth in history by attacking the main service of the Evil Corporation. With the initial attack catastrophic damage was barely avoided by Elliott making him a hero in the eyes of his employers as well as the senior management of E-Corporation. The many aspects that really allow the series stand out from the rest it’s not the usual two-dimensional noble hacker versus corrupt monolithic corporation. This is very much a character driven drama that goes beyond just Elliott and his problems with socialization. Angela is living with Ollie Parker (Ben Rappaport), a fellow employee at Allsafe an extremely ambitious. He has very little concern over who he has to step over on as he rises in the corporate hierarchy. Corporate intrigue runs deep is one of the main themes men E- Corporation’s CEO, Terry Colby (Bruce Altman) is frame for the cyber-attacks. From the audience’s perspective it’s not as if he was an innocent man frame for this crime, he was well deserving being stripped of his corporate position is not for the reasons stated.
Elliott is drawn into the orbit of one of the more aloof members of fsociety, Darlene (Carly Chaikin), who is usually seen in the background with the trademark dark black eyeliner and the only constant cigarette. The reason for her concern with Elliott becomes known later on and is one of the many big reveals the season contains. As far as Mr. Robot and his cadre of hackers are concerned there is very little you can trust what you can superficially discern. Every character has a closer to just rating to surface. Another popular archetype is magnificently blended into this highly complex first season is the big caper. Rather than robbing a bank or stealing from a casino Elliott and his cohorts are attempting to break into Steel Mountain, the most secure computer data backup facility in the world. It is necessary for fsociety to circumvent the multiple layers of physical, electronic and digital safeguards that protects the all-important data backups. If they can coordinate destroying E-Corporations server records of everyone’s that as well as destroying any possible backup the system of credit that permeates our society be completely destroyed resetting everyone’s debt back to zero. Elliott’s talent for finding and circumventing weaknesses a plan is hatched that would be the envy of the possible missions force.
Elliott also has the concerned with some irate drug dealers and is constantly hiding from either them or corporate security. Throughout it all Mr. Robot always seems to pop up in the least expected spot ready to cajole necessary blackmail Elliott into finishing the downfall of Eco-Corporation. This is the type of television series that benefits greatly having a Blu-ray or video-on-demand copy. The numerous plot lines is so intricately woven together that the resulting tapestry is beautiful to behold wonderful to experience but demand some extra attention to make sure that you report every nuance that possible the story has to offer. This is the kind of story that has hidden meaning in every layer that it employs. Even the names of the episodes relate back to the world of hackers with the title of the episode written in the form elite-speak, favored by that community formatted as a filename with the extension be good different audio/video file format such as ‘MOV’, MPG’ or ‘FLV’. You don’t have to be a real cyber maven to understand the series as most of the more esoteric terms are explained within the context of the episode but if you have ever written code, deciphered code or taken it upon yourself to alter code then you’re going to find a certain something special about this series.

The series hits the network on June 24, but the first episode is now readily available On Demand, at the IMDb and USA websites, and I am sure at many other places. Somebody is doing an excellent job of promoting this show though I only spotted it today.

Christian Slater is ostensibly the star of the show, but in that first episode, the real star of the show is Rami Malek, previously unknown to me though he has been in a number of feature films. Malek’s low-keyed performance is just right for his brilliant, but socially inept, character. The rest of the cast, certainly including Mr. Slater, does a fine job too.

Another major star of the show is writer, Sam Esmail, who has managed to make information technology and hacking exciting and suspenseful. I checked him out on IMDb, finding only a short list of what appear to be non-stand-out movies before the TV series of Mr. Robot appears.

I am not crazy about the title of “Mr. Robot”. The word “robot” has been tied to too many mediocre TV shows and movies for it to be an asset. But, if you react negatively to it, do NOT let that push you away from this series. Let’s hope that Mr. Esmail, Mr. Malek, et al can maintain the intensity and fascination level of the first episode.

What a surprise! Just finished watching all 10 episodes of the first season. Mr. Robot has got it all, great writing, perfect cast, terrific music score & soundtrack, sublime pacing, stunning visuals/camera framing. This is the love child of Fight Club & Hackers. Only, way way better!

Probably one of the best and disappointing shows of 2015. Some inconsistencies sometimes (especially concerning of the personality of the main character, but he's so complicated...). We're surprised by constants reversals situations (even if the middle of the season is quiet long), and there's a real quality in the production (amazing soundtrack corresponding perfectly which the story).

Rami Malek, along with the writing, got me hooked on this show. Awesome show. I'm in the Information Security field and the show does a good job of replicating real life scenarios. Rami Malek is perfect as the main character.

masterpiece. It concerns a sensitive and ill-tempered subject of modern society, showing a possible solution, giving hope and motivating. And not only the subject - the inhumanity of society and the division between people, who prefer to hide their true feelings, which completely separates them from one another and makes them lonely, but also in every part of the film the sensitivity is felt. And how many important issues were highlighted, I just can't believe. I remember how deeply this series influenced me. I was mad, angry I'm part of that. On the other hand, I received understanding and reassurance. It was a whole experience for which I'm very grateful. Unbelievable job by Sam Esmail.

The show had me at the pilot. It directly hit my "awesome" spot.
The topic and execution of that series is totally to my taste and I feverishly gulped every episode from season 1. But I was left wanting more.
Season 2 was quite a disappointment in relation to season 1 and the writing strayed of it's path. Became psychadelic **** instead of focusing on the main point of the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is not about hackers or hacking and stuff like that, saying this would be like say that "Rocky" series is about boxe for example, wich isn't, Rocky is about life. Mr. Robot is about mental illness and about living the life and how you do it.

There are a lot of different aspects inside the mental situation, Elliot Alderson is the main character, and right at the beginning the show already gave a huge good hit, wich is to make we, the audience, Elliot's consciousness, wich is fantanstic, because we are inside of his head and he is all the time speaking with us, making questions, analyzing and a lot of other good stuff that wouldn't be possible if this wasn't the case, and considering that he has multiple crises, existential, anxiety and more, it is really interesting to know what he is thinking of what is going on or from who he is speaking to.

It is great that we know things from his perspective, we don't know things that he doesn't, yes we do see things that he don't, but not extra crucial things, there are a lot of moments where people around him know something that he forgot, but we are in dark just like him, trying to think of something together, that is so nice, and give some possibilities that turned out to be a giant and so dope plot twists, wich is about Elliot's family. As soon as he kissed Darlene and she was acting mad and Elliot didn't knew what was going on and Darlene said that he forgot who she is, i was already like expecting something big, but not that big, the fact that Darlene was Elliot's sister the whole time and she knew that the whole time changed so many things, and we not knowing that with Elliot while everyone around did was so surreal and well done, we could just go back and rewatch that we would see things completely differents between them, but as much as his father. About his father, there were some clues, about what was actually happening there, i did indeed suspected because of some dialogues, first, during the pier, where he pushes into the water, them there was some moments that felt strange how people reacted of some actions that he did, and i was suspecting already, but in any moment i was sure, so when it really showed what was going on, it was still a strong hit. That gaves some many possibilities for the next stuff, Elliot could have forgot about so many things and his mind state can reach so many different potential.

The philosophical parts are also huge and fantastic, the show covers a lot of thinkers, culture in general that talks about some good stuff, for example, existencialism, in a lot of moments we discuss with Elliot if we are real, the final speech of his father was so strong, what is real? All the time we are being exposed to marketing and people telling us what to do, what to think, what to feel about this and that, what is real? We are even controlling ourselves, or the invisible hand is? Our debts are comanding our attitudes? Are we really free? This show can make we questionate so much and really put some effort in us, make we think in what path we really are.

The mental illness aspect was so good in this show, probably perfect, for sure a lot of people suffers from something about that, Elliot got so many and you see it acting on him, the doubts, the feat, not knowing how to speak sometimes or how to react in some way that would be acceptable by others, the hallucinations speaking with you and for you all the time, doing stuff in your place, the feel of being followed and watched all the time, all of this is there, and watching this in fact made me so comfortable, i see a lot of Elliot in me and i think that this helps a lot, i believe that a lot of people does feel like this as well.

For that to happen well would be necessary a great actor to put us there and Rami Malek is godamn perfect, he make us completely buy all of his illness and his problems, his difficults, the traumas, you see that he is overloaded by so much in his mind, the way that he speaks, that he moves for each situation, he is perfect in many ways. Christian Slatter is also great, he does have a voice and way to act very different from Elliot, wich was great considering that they were the same person. Portia Doubleday in other hand, i don't found here very good, she felt always the same, her face expressions are always the same during the whole show, she does have a good diction, but in expressing not at all. Carly Chaikin is also very nice, her loose way and not taking many things serious really filled the show with joy.

The story overall it is nice, the parts about Elliot with his familly and mind, so as with his missions are perfect. Now, the parts about the company going up and down, the crimes, Wellick, aren't bad, but i don't that they were perfect on point, it feels that there is some winding about that, so as that there are some moments that i got a bit lost about these moments, the Wellick character may be way to caricato.

Mr. Robot is a tv show that revolves around Elliot Alderson, who is a cybersecurity engineer and hacker who suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. The show is full of suspense and a bit of paranoia. The is perfect for anyone that love the complex ideas of hack and how we are controlled by technology. It is also delightful to see a show about hacking be so accurate about the information the present. This is because they a team of advisors that include “a team of hackers and cybersecurity experts including Jeff Moss (founder and director of Black Hat and DEF CON computer security conferences), Marc Rogers (Principal security researcher for Cloudflare and head of security for DEF CON), Ryan Kazanciyan (Chief security architect for Tanium) and Andre McGregor (Director of security for Tanium and former FBI Cyber Special agent) to assist him with the authenticity of the hacks and the technology being used”. This show is perfect in many ways, yet it has a few flaws. If you do not have an interest in technical ideas, it might be hard to get captured by. The show is also quite dark, and give a lot of meta-comments on the current global situations. The show is highly recommended if you have interest in computers, cybersecurity, or simply like a well made suspenseful show. I would give a 9/10.

Elliot, is really drawing me in. He's so fantastically flawed, beautifully destructive, sane and insane. His outlook on the world is perhaps pessimistic, or arrogant, but there is a truth in his words - his inner dialogue that comes across as well-written poetry. This show captures the current zeitgeist, or overall spirit of the times

It is a curious and intelligent show, it makes you think about many political, social and moral issues. It starts very strong and it is the season that I liked the most. However, the political approach of the series does not seem right to me since it has a clear anarchist and communist tendency.
