I loved the first season, first and foremost, because I appreciated the focus on the minds of serial killers, which were interviewed throughout the season. I found Holden's character interesting, and his insights powerful for that time in history. But now find him irritating, not least of which because he has his profile completely wrong. In the end, the killer is never caught, and politics win the day. Very frustrating and yea, infuriating. Expand

Even better than the first season and continually proves why this is the show on Netflix to beat. A bit of a slow start but as soon as you move past that the subject material becomes so engrossing (I grew up in Kansas City so the BTK especially hits home for me.) Must watch for anybody that is a fan of serial killer shows or people who are just fans of quality tv shows in general.

A solid, if inferior season to the spectacular 1st season. The 2nd season's stories about Tench's son and Dr. Carr's relationship is either too convenient or too frivolous. Is Dr. Carr even necessary for the plot of this season? The acting and production values are still top notch.

The first 5 episodes of this season are terrific. It has some intriguing narratives and even though there's a lot of side stories to follow, it keeps you hooked and makes you wonder how it will tie together later on. Unfortunately a lot of it is left as cliffhangers, probably to leave the viewers wanting more. And while that works, it also makes the season seem like it's stalling a bit too much.
It's especially obvious from episode 6 and forward. The tone of the show suddenly changes for some reason. Some awkward comedic passages are introduced that I felt was quite out of place compared to the rest of the season.
The main story also seems to drag out in order to stretch it until the end. For those not familiar with the true story (me included) that serves as the base for this season, the ending seems a bit flawed. When you read up on the tragedies that ensued back then, it makes sense though.

But I did not care for the tone of the last 4 episodes. And it was only when I read up on it at wikipedia that I realized the show changes director for those last 4 episodes. So that's the explanation.

All in all an absolutely worthy second season, but with a second half that changes the mood and pacing in some bad ways.

Jonathan Groff was born to play Agent Ford. Fincher, Dominik and Franklin and the staff of writers created probably the best season of any TV show ever.

It lost some strength from how spectacular the first season was, however it continues to be one of the best shows on Netflix.
    I want a third season.

Its a wonderfully crafted season of TV. The performances are top notch. Every character is important, and carefully written. The music is ridiculously stirring and the cinematography is executed with meticulous intention. Probably one of the only shows/movies/etc to get serial killers close to accurate without glorifying them.

The interviews with the subjects aren't nearly as prevalent as the first season, but the investigation that the crew gets swept up into helps pick up the pieces quite well. Mindhunter continues to be the best crime show currently on television.

The second season of Mindhunters, about the FBI Behavioral Unit during the 70's, continues to be a dark but interesting look into criminal profiling.

There are a lot of complaints online about the pacing of this. Personally, I didn't feel that. You still got a lot of what made the first season work: interviews with famous killers and a look at the process of profiling and how it works. I

There are a lot of complaints online about the pacing of this. Personally, I didn't feel that. You still got a lot of what made the first season work: interviews with famous killers and a look at the process of profiling and how it works. I found the many hindrances, both political and otherwise, that comes with hunting a serial killer to be rather interesting.

The three leads remain strong. Holt McCallany as Bill Tench stands out as the every-man of the group. He gets the strongest personal story this season. Joe Tuttle appears more as newer member Greg Smith. The character brings a certain understated humor to the role being both well-meaning but also a little over-his-head. Frozen's Jonathan Groff remains interesting in his role of earnest, odd Holden Ford. However, I did find that in the first episode he acted a little too naively, considering that he got accepted into the FBI, to be believable. The actors playing the new batch of serial killers being interviewed remain a highlight as they all do a good job.

Overall, if you're into crime dramas, I recommend this.

Production values are super high, photography is 1 step down from Zodiac, makes sense with David Fincher directing first 3 episodes, Andrew Dominik (the Assassination of Jesse James-one of my top 10 movies ever) directing the next 2. For a show with no villain or crimes, very little plot, the Hannibal Lector type interviews being the highlight, it goes by very quickly. Continues to prove why it's Netflix's best drama.
Still as unnerving and compelling as ever.

The series fascinates rather than unsettles. Yet the picture it paints of Manson, Rader and the rest is never glib. It’s a remarkable achievement and one of those rare “binge-watch” shows that lives up to the billing. You really will want to snaffle it down in one sitting.

Mindhunter gets out of sleuth-cliche jail through our fascination with the real cases it dramatises: those who have devoured the BTK and Atlanta cases via true-crime podcasts and Wikipedia binges ought to appreciate the lurid creepiness of the former and the elusive oddness of the latter. It’s all a quality guilty thrill.

The show’s narrative is more cohesive this season, too. The team is driven to collect more data from the killers because the so-called Atlanta Child Murders are unfolding and they want to help out with their newfangled profiling. It’s all very, very dark, which for me is very, very intriguing.
