While the first season of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches is ultimately a very different beast than the books upon which the show is based, it’s also in many ways, a better, more coherent experience. A slow-burn saga that is heavy on atmosphere and low on easy or immediate answers. Read full review

So far it's far and away a better show than Interview. Firstly, because it fulfills where Interview did not: the lingering and creepy atmosphere. Secondly, because the main characters aren't insufferably smug and off-putting. And thirdly, because it understands what made the source materialSo far it's far and away a better show than Interview. This is such a disappointment especially airing just after the outstanding other Rice series Interview with a Vampire. This is poorly acted, poorly written and so NOT sexy as most of Anne Rice novels are.

I'm always willing to suspend my disbelief for this kind of story, as long as it has its own logic. This just makes no sense and the acting tends to show that the actors don't believe it either. Worse, they just renewed it and doubled the error.
