This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a huge fan growing up, I was excited for this. I walked away beyond disappointed Pros:
The Animation was really good

Cons: He-Man who’s supposed to be the star of the show was cast aside in favor of Teela. Teela looks like a man, no doubt her character was purposely made to look like a lesbian, even has a girlfriend sidekick. Skelator was also cast aside in favor of Evil Lyn. Basically this was the last Jedi all over. Beyond disappointed

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only revelation from this series is that Kevin Smith has sold out to the wokeism pervading Hollywood. A man who built his reputation on being a true comic book guy partnered with a social justice warrior at Netflix, took something beloved - and destroyed it. Teela who was always like a princess/girlfriend to He-Man was given a massive change. The writers got rid of He-Man and make Teela the He-Woman, complete with masculine shoulders and arms (and haircut). It’s not all changes though; Lieutenant Andros is still there. Although they did a color swap for her, topped off with her dreadlocks kept up on her head. Inclusivity is a wonderful thing but when you compromise storytelling for so called ‘diversity’ and social engineering - the effect is unmistakable. And the changes were all unnecessary because The Masters Of The Universe was already diverse and all the women extremely capable and powerful. That wasn’t enough though for this latest crop. The writers had to do some gymnastics in order to make Teela the primary figure in this series. What they did was so myopic that it just ruined the show from the outset. Our new hyper masculine Teela has been promoted to be the new sergeant at arms. But after Adam/He-Man is killed, her reaction is more like a 10-year-old girl’s. She was so upset that she did not know the truth of his duel identity that she attacked everyone and forsaked her duty. So, we can all see how immature and irresponsible Teela is at the beginning and she is to be our new hero. A massive disservice to the legacy of this character. Turns out she was completely unqualified to be the sergeant at arms but now she should be the protagonist of the show with her newfound supposed powerful transformation Smith has given her. Perhaps if they entitled the show ‘buffed up Woman-Child’, people would’ve been more prepared for the story that would unfold.
She just could not deal that Adam had kept his secret from her, no matter what the reasons. Despite that. everyone is supposed to be OK with her subsequent apparent secret that Lieutenant Andros is her lesbian lover. Never overt but hush, hush, wink, wink There are some good things about this show but it’s so corrupted that it is completely overshadowed. The myopia from the creators was just too great; witching the main character from selfless He Man to now selfish Teela is an insult to any thinking person. I’m sorry but I could not get past episode two, and I really wanted to but I had to stop watching. What a disgrace. I have more or less followed Smith’s career and this is by far the worst thing he’s ever done.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As an 80's child He-Man was my favourite show. I was so looking forward to this following the trailer. It was a terrible shame and missed opportunity when in this version they killed He-Man not once but twice and spent the whole series belittling him. They turned Teela, who was beautiful, strong & a respected character into a whining, self centred, misandrist **** who's now gay and needing to hide what was once an attractive figure in favour of testosterone injections. I was going to get my kids into the show and buy all the toys, no chance that's happening now. Smith ruined a show and seems very proud they have done so just to simp to woke Hollywood selling the fantastical narrative of wamen reclaiming their stolen power from men. Complete and utter garbage, this isn't a review bomb, sh*t is sh*t. Expand

Pros:
-The animation is incredible. -Seeing the classic designs and classic characters at the beginning was great. -The first Episode was great. Action packed and I liked the basic set-up for the series...but then...

The cons: They kill off He-Man, the character that has made Mattel MILLIONS of dollars over the last 30 years in the first episode and then focus on a butched out Teela as the hero of the story. A Teela that seems so off character from the original, it might as well be a new character. Now this wouldn't be so bad if they kept Teela beautiful, feminine and sexy (Like the original), but instead they transformed her into a roided-out man...which doesn't fit with the original designs or original vision of the character from the creators of Masters of the Universe. Oh, and now she's hinted at being a lesbian, because these Hollywood men can't envision a strong, powerful woman possibly being straight. No, all powerful women must look like men and act like men... It spits in the face of women and femininity, which are things to be cherished. Also, Teela in the comics always had a thing for He-Man, and that should have been played up here.

Secondly, who wants to watch a He-Man show with no He-Man? This show should have been an EASY Home run. You do 1 season of all classic He-Man vs Skeletor adventures, laying the groundwork for a bigger story down the line, and build toward a Teela/Sorceress centric arc. Instead, you piss off and divide the fan base that was expecting a He-Man show and then the creators (Kevin Smith) blame the fans for not liking the show and voicing their concern. Do these companies not understand that when you piss off the fan base, you will bleed money? It doesnt attract new fans. It kills the fanbase that was already willing to open their wallets and support the property. And also kills it for the next generation (Their kids) that they want to bring into the fandom.

You could have also kept the He-Man, Teela, Man at Arms dynamic in the show by introducing a weaker He-Man in episode 2 who is wielding the classic Axe and Shield, who goes along on the adventure to regain the power sword, facing the things that Teela faces, and come off with a cool payoff in the long run, and building back the trust between the two friends. But shortsightedness from the writers kills any hope in that.

The first series feels almost like a "lets do something radical just to piss off those hardcore fans" type of show. I know how this goes as I work in mass media. Writers have a thing where they want extreme controversy thinking it will bring the show more eyes, but it never works out for them. It just divides the fans and pushes them to seek out other avenues to spend their money. At this point, it would go against everyone's expectations to actually get a product that is TRUE to the source material and doesn't piss off the fans who made the property a huge success.

Now, do I believe He-Man is dead for the remainder of the show? No. He will return in Part 2. But this is NOT the way to do it, especially when fans have been clamoring for a He-Man show for years. It would be like Warners building up to a huge Batman show after years of Batman not being on-screen, and then they kill off Batman in the first episode and replace him with a butched out Batgirl and some other D rate characters no one has ever cared about. And then call the fans toxic when they complain about the fact that they dont like the show and expected show after show of Badass Batman action.

Im willing to check out part 2, but Im really hoping Mattel and Netflix take these reviews seriously and course correct. You could have EASILY won over fans and built up even more good will by just sticking to the source material, and giving us a HE-MAN centic show...you know...because that's the character that has sustained this franchise for 30 years, has made you millions of dollars and the character that everyone likes.

I've watched the original series as a kid and as almost every boy growing up in the 80ies, I loved it. Before I start, English isn't my first language, so forgive me any mistakes.
After seeing the trailer and the advertisement I was quite excited about a remake of MOTU. But MOTU REVELATIONS really disappointed me, because of several reasons. Before I'll go deeper, I’ll try to do this show some justice by also mentioning that the new animatic style is excellent. It shows most often enough reference to the original show, but still modernizes it. I also appreciate that characters actually can get seriously wounded, which didn’t happen in the original show, like Skeletor being pierced by He-Man’s sword and later on Adam by Skeletor. So this is new, showing serious injuries during a fight. Bravo for being a little bit more realistic and showing kids, that fights can cause serious injuries, without adding brutality of course, since the main target audience of this show are supposed to be children, next to old fans, which are all adults of course. But killing He-Man twice is just too much! I thought the main character was He-Man, after all he is very much in the center of the cover art and in the trailer it was advertised like this, but this clearly isn’t the case. I’m fine in general with Teela being an independent, strong woman, she was one in the original show already. BUT this series, MOTU: Revelation, makes a Tomboy-like character out of her with a side-cut hair style, which hardly references her original looks. It’s also strange to see, how she suddenly becomes the main character and He-Man just a side show. Even worse it’s quite striking how she outperforms Adam/He-Man during the hunt scene and several fights, while He-Man most often is rather passive. So is this some kind of political influenced reverse discrimination in order to compensate something? Seriously, now men, especially Adam is shown as weak, who needs constantly help from strong women, because it used to be the other way around. I’ve got a bad feeling about this show taking a political turn and trying to be woke. If that’s the case, that Revelations tries to be woke and I think I’m not the only one having a fishy feeling about this, then this series is ruined for me. And no, I’m not hating women or something like that, I have a lovely wife, a son and a daughter, which I all love equally. I also don’t think, that the old fanbase is toxic – that’s just a very cheap attempt to silence any reasonable criticism on the show. People just want to enjoy the show of their childhood and not being politically nudged. For the first 5 episodes this rather bad audience rating is well deserved! Maybe the professional reviewers and critics should ask themselves, why they give Revelations such a positive rating. Is it because of the show or because of the political nudging between the lines they might approve?

The animation quality is good. But the story and what they've done with the characters is just embarrassingly bad. It's another example of Hollywood's schtick of the last few years where they write the male characters out of the show, replace them with women who look like men, and of course, had to have a couple of the obligatory deletion of white characters and replace them with those of another race as well as LGBTQ relationships injected into the show. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sorry not a fan, for one killing off the heroin in the first episode is just not right. Masters of the universe is HeMan and HeMan is Masters of the universe there’s no getting away from that. I don’t like the story either it’s not like the old Teela that we all loved and knew. This is not a work of love and of appreciation or a story of morals that you learn a lesson from like you did at the end of every episode of HeMan, it’s a story of giving in to a small minority of other peoples morals and letting down the fans. Lesson learned. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The animation was great much better then the Rte-Con of She-Ra. the art is definitely true to the original other then the redraw of Prince Adam. unfortunately that is ware the comparison ends. I was consciously hopeful after hearing that Kevin Smith was a fan ad willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. after watching so many show rewrites end in a political identity dumpster fire. I should have known better then to hope for anything worth watching I thought the reboot of She-Ra was bad well He-Man is worse its not the He-Man show its the Tila Show. Its not even well done to much time is spent on pushing the WOK narrative and not enough time was actually devoted to a decent story telling. I don't know what happened to hearing real writers but I am starting to think they don't exist anymore. this is just another sign that Hollywood is Dead. they couldn't pay me to watch the next season and Kevin Smith should be cut along with all the writers before they can do any further damage. As I was beginning to start the stream I was wondering why the show wasn't called "He-Man: Masters of the Universe Revelation", and I got the answer to that really quick.

It's not a horrible cartoon. In fact the animations look great. The story is a bit so so though, and the motivation of Teela is a bit forced if not weird. Somebody just died and saved your life and the entire universe, and she can only think of being pissed off because she was lied to..... seems a bit weird to make the storytelling drive of your main hero for her to be a selfish brat, but ok.

I was a bit let down by some of the voice acting honestly. Especially the actress who voiced Teela (who I am now finding out was Sarah Michelle Gellar, ok that's pretty cool) who at certain times literally seemed as if the was reading her lines as opposed to expressing emotions with her voice. "You're hurting her" without any emotion at all as one of her old friends gets seemingly hurt by Evil-Lyn. Orko?

I think if it was made clear from the start this show was about the universe as opposed to about the original main character. [I mean, he's front and centre in the show's 'poster' as well] Then I think my dissapointment would have been a bit less. But they basically made a He-Man show without him, and when he was around he was made a bit incompotent as to apparantly make another character look better. I mean, this whole mess starts because he basically was gauded by Skeletor to lunge at him.

So yeah. Not a horrible cartoon, certainly not a great one. If you're a fan of the old show then you will dislike it a bit more than somebody who was new to this franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Animation is nice, cool to see they tried to keep the oldschool designs of the characters and machines. I stopped watching after the 3rd episode. I didn't find any excitement in following the main characters. I find the new Teela uninteresting, same for her partner. Evil-Lyn was kind of good, but those three together didn't have a dynamic I found intriguing. I also liked Orco and Gringer, still kind of clumsy and scared, but adorable and sympathetic. I found those two characters pretty empathetic. Teela...not so much. I was hoping for kind of a new take on the main theme. The music is good, don't get me wrong, I'm just a fan of good covers and remixes. I admit I'm kind of fed up about the cliché strong manly girl with undercut with lesbian partner. I like strong organic female characters (Leia, Rippley, Sarah Connor, Katniss Everdeen). I hope in a few years we get well-written female characters again, which we will follow from beginning to end (not like Rose; which I like; in Episode IX, but hey, let's introduce 2 new female characters, we won't care much cause it's the end of the trilogy and...hey Palpatine returned).

So yeah, I didn't want to follow the haters, but after having watched 3 episodes, I'm out. Remember She-Ra? Please don't, leave it be.

I'm pretty sure I wrote a review after the first part, but here it is again, and my points remain standing:

the voice acting is on the whole awful, between poor casting choices, and poor delivery. The animation is still pretty mediocre. Powerhouse just isn't that good, they produce inconsistent animation, and sure it looks better than most modern cartoons, but that's a really low bar. There is honestly much better animation on tap from other studios. Kevin Smith and his writing team have clearly demonstrated contempt for the source material, the the majority of changes they have made range from unnecessary to cynical to farcical. The humor is low brow juxtaposed against the original's youth oriented humor.

And we have to talk about Teela again. She is the epitome of a Mary Sue in this without the requisite "self-insert" part. What do you call it when the mary sue is created by white knight pandering?

We also need to address the fact that He-Man is still not present. Sure sure sure, you can say "the show isn't called He-Man..." but given the bill of goods we were sold on the way in, we all expected a He-Man story, not a spin-off about support characters (who are incredibly mishandled...)

The only reason I'm giving this a 3/10 and not lower is because there are a few well executed scenes amongst a poorly conceived and produced story.

Kevin Smith has done a marvellous job of bringing new depths to old well established characters and locations and shining a needed light on the lesser known ones. Many people are calling Masters of the universe revelation woke. They must have very short memories. Original 80s He-Man was always woke. With each episode teaching you important life lessons. Love is better than hate and that drugs don't make your problems go away. He-Man was always about being better. With a cast that rivals any big budget TV show *Mark Hamill* as skeletor and even bringing back the original voice of Skeletor *Alan Oppenheimer* to reprise his voice as Moss Man. It's clear this was a labour of love for all involved. A soundtrack by the great Bear Mccreary *battlestar Galactica* giving off 80s vibes only emphasises an already stunning visual treat full of twists, turns and tears for fans new and old. 9/10

This show is really good as soon as you can get over the fact that every minute isn't about He-Man. There are a few odd moments that maybe don't work, but overall it's a really good show. I'm a huge fan since the 80s and I liked it. My wife and kids have never seen an episode of the original show and they both liked this show.

It is not the old show. And that's a good thing. The old cartoon belongs in the 80s. It's great but it's definitely dated. Keep watching it if that's what you want, but don't crap on this version just because it's not the old version.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The new Masters of the Universe, has shown an extrodinary quality in the animation. The history could have been a little less intuitive, we have the stereotypical girl with the shaved hair and the adventure to fight your own fears to save everyone, that is to say we had seen this scenarios in other series: Trollhunters, Adventure time, She-Ra(new), Final Space, etc. I think the goals of the series have change in order to satisfy the demands of political correctness, but I must say that the new goals shouldn't mess with the spectators preferences, a lot of the people that sat down to watch it, was expecting to remember old memories and not to forge new ones, while seeing, I could say, their favorite character from childhood getting murdered (apparently twice). At the end I think that this change is meant to be for the new spectators, while expecting the old ones to forget some precious memories, but after all I can say that this show can give more than we think, if gets worked correctly. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm just floored by all the whiners complaining about the direction of this show. I'm from the old school and watched He-Man back when I was a kid everyday after school. I remember all the characters and toys they have shown in the new show so far. It's a total nostalgia trip and I was very pleased with what they did with the first half of this season. I laughed at all the "reviews" complaining He-man and Skeletor are only in the first episode because this shows you they only watched half of the first episode and then gave up. They reviewed a show they didn't even watch and missed out on the cliff hanger ending with He-man and Skeletor!

You need to keep in mind this is a sequel. Why would you want the same boring rehashed junk of He-man fighting someone new in every episode? If that's what you want go watch any number of the multitude of Shonen anime out there. Instead the show rips right into it in the first episode with the penultimate battle between He-man and Skeletor where they seemingly destroy themselves, and essentially bring about the slow end of the universe. Queue the oddball team-up of Teela and Evil-lyn and their gang of misfits to reclaim the sword of power and fix everything by going to Eternian versions of heaven and hell. Putting the focus on Teela, you know because He-man is essentially DEAD, apparently has broken everyone's brain.

So you don't like that all the women have huge arms? Did you not notice the guys have arms that are like 4 times as huge? They are Eternians. They live on a world that is the heart of the entire universe. They're called the "MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE", not the "Average, Molded by Your Personal World Views, Failures of the Universe". Would you really expect such beings to NOT have overly impressive physiques? Even Orko is lean and ripped like Bruce Lee. Most of you are completely missing out on an interesting story simply because you can't get over your own misogynistic prejudice. I'll warn you right now... I think they are going to have Teela take up the sword of power and become the new champion. I know your little minds will be blown into oblivion but that's you're own damn fault. One last comment to negative reviewers saying this is He-Man's show; the show is called "Masters of the Universe: Revelation". Do you see He-man's name in there anywhere? Anyways, overall I was pretty pleased with this and can't wait to see the rest of it!

I loved Mark Hamill as Skeletor and Griffin Newman as Orko was very fun and heartfelt. I am very excited to see what happens next season. That was quite the cliffhanger to end on! Hat's off to everyone who worked on this. Full stars from me, I am hooked.

Objectively great story, great writing (especially by Bernardin), great animation, great performances. For this who say there isn't enough he-man, this is only half of the story so far.

I love everything on that show! I was so happy to see a further char evolving and was very much unexpected things that happened. It’s like they reached in to my childhood memories and splattered it all over the screen! This is how my imagination always saw the old show!!

Seeing all my old favourites in high detail, high definition with much more character depth! I

Awesome version of the show I grew up on. Like it was not just the same old thing and the story and world advanced. Can’t wait for the second part.

Perfection. Takes an extended toy commercial and imbues some meaning. Cannot wait for the conclusion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As an 80s kid, who grew up with He-Man and She-Ra and had all the toys, I absolutely loved this show. KS did a fantastic job to bring the show into 2021 and removing He-Man (for the time being, no one actually believed he'd stay dead) gives the rest of the cast a time to shine and develop into actual 3 dimensional characters. It creates a new Eternia that is the same but with more depth and realism. Letting Skeletor win for a change raises the stakes and makes him an actual thread, rather than a goofy caricature. Of course the same group of people who moan about everything, would loose their heads, as expected but it's their loss.
Whereas the original was trapped in a spiral of the same story over and over again (Skeletor tries something but is too stupid, He-Man saves the day, Skeletor tries something but is too stupid, He-Man saves the day, Skeletor tries something...etc and so on) this new adaption really moves the story and characters along and that's what I want, as a He-Man fan, who is not a kid anymore. Voice acting and Animation is top notch, as is to be expected from Powerhouse Animation Studios
Glad this is getting a second season, in which I'm sure, He-Man will take centre stage and people will find something else to moan about. Just the times we live in.
I recommended the show to every He-Man fan, who is not too attached to their nostalgia goggles and are open for new stories.
