Its been interesting to see Daredevil's character evolve and how the villains really flesh him out and push him to his limits, not only physically but emotionally. Acting has been great, even Bernthal does well. I find the chemistry between Daredevil and Elektra seems to flourish through on screen. I'm starting to find this season more interesting than the first one. I can even forgive that they steal a lot of the themes from Dark Knight on escalation and such. Expand

It should be seen as the quintessential portrayal of the Punisher in film. Electra is an incredibly fun, sexy, and dark character whose arc throughout the story is quite compelling. The plotlines for the other characters are also interesting and woven together in a way that makes sense. The fight scenes are the best on TV by a wide margin and there's one fight scene in particular that is one of the most brutal I've ever seen. We can start to see hints of how this series will integrate with Netflix's other Marvel series. If the others are of this quality (I sure liked Jessica Jones) then please, keep them coming. Mostly though I'm excited for season 3 of Daredevil. Expand

Another magnificent season of the best superhero show I've ever seen. It is a beautiful spectacle and expands over the first season quite a bit. I love how the show does not tease plot-lines--by the end of the first episode, I got to see plot points that I did not expect to see until I was at least midway into the show. That is just great. I love this show.

Whether it be with the type of violence or action or just general writing, it's clear this series is a step above all others, including the first season of this very show. Jon Bernthal is an amazing Punisher, who's dramatic scenes steal the show for entire season. While they are few and far between, you really get the sense of the type of inner conflict he's going through and how much he is really different Daredevil himself and what he allows himself to be. Elodie Yung as Elektra does a very good job as well but the star of this season is easily the Punisher and I hope to see him involved in the future of all these shows on Netflix. It really was a season of growth for all of the characters, even if some of them were left behind a tad towards the end of the season. The story is great up until the last few episodes where things are a bit rushed to get to the conclusion. I lost some interest as well as the season took a different tun around episode 10 that really set up for the conclusion. But the extremely strong beginning and middle pieces are what set this series apart and, if this quality of material is going to be the norm for future seasons, then this will easily be the flagship show for the Marvel-Netflix TV shows. Is there any other superhero movie or television show as dark, gritty and realistic as Daredevil? I think not!

I was hoping it wouldn't go downhill after their first great season. No worry there. Fantastic scripts and acting. Also, I cannot think of one other show whose opening sequence is as cool as this program. The dripping red is incredibly creative.

Each episode seems to have a fair amount of action--in fact, probably about 60% more than the first season. At first I had my doubts about Jon Bernthal portraying Frank Castle but considering how they've written him in this particular series I think he does an excellent job; even though I would have preferred Ray Stevenson in the role as he brought more of a trained soldier feel to the role in War Zone and he looked just like Frank Castiglione from War Zone. I do, however, appreciate that they ramped up the gore and violence for this season--simply because I was worried that they would treat The Punisher like a PG-13 character (see the 2004 version of 'The Punisher'). He brought a lot of dynamics to the ethics of justice vs vigilantism.

If I had a few gripes it's that some of the fighting looked fake and rain makers always look fake--both are pretty minor. The villians aren't exactly as compelling or detailed as the previous season but it also means that this series moves along MUCH quicker! Over all a definite improvement over the first season and I enjoyed that Frank Castle loves his coffee. That was a nice touch. I hope he gets his own show and we get to see him use more tactics than a meathead rage monster approach to offing criminals, his van and Microchip.

Thankfully this was not the case, rather this series has gone on to explore the character of Daredevil and others to such a degree that it's become quite possibly the single greatest adaptation of comic book super heroes to ever hit film; and I don't say that lightly.

While the realism and grit are still present, season 2 here crosses whole-heartedly into film-noir as it's primary aesthetic; with realism being prominent but taking a back seat for style and substance to shine through. You're likely to see women in long flowing gowns when they couldn't reasonably afford them and it would be impractical to wear. Characters smoke and sit in unnaturally lit rooms with light coursing through Venetian blinds at odd angles, or the orange glow of street lighting bleeding through thick stained windows, often for no reason other than style. There are multiple scenes with rolling mist and fog in places where it would be physically impossible for it to exist. Regularly characters will discuss things in the gruff tones of the struggled journalist trying to make it in the cruel world, and everyone seems one coffee away from a nervous breakdown. There's a real sense that the noir theme underpins everything here, even down to the action, and it makes the show all the stronger for it.

Then there's the addition of new characters. The Punisher being the most obvious addition but we'll come to him later. First let's consider the supporting cast, Karen Page is given the ability to show strength and resourcefulness, while also showing vulnerability and her at times, delicate nature, all in equal measures, making her the perfect example of a fully fleshed out female character on TV. Foggy comes into his own, with his scenes in the court room being some of the best acting and most tension filled scenes in the show, and my personal highlight, and finally there's Elektra, a character who's given enough focus to shine without backsliding into the anti-hero role; we finally instead see her as what she is. She's a villain plain and simple. While the search for the "good in her" makes for interesting character dynamics, the fact that she's not just portrayed as the good girl who occasionally does bad things is refreshing and it highlights the main theme of the show which is where you draw your moral line... and with that there's the Punisher.

The Punisher is portrayed perfectly with such a great emphasis on what makes him so dangerous and that's his lack of hesitation when it comes to taking life. The Punisher is genuinely frightening and puts the highlights on the question of as what point an anti-hero becomes as bad as the villains they fight; simultaneously it exposes the hypocrisy of Daredevil and the futility of his approach when it's hamstrung by the moral quandaries faced by Matt Murdock.

Superbly realised this series achieves everything it went out to achieve and is delightful to watch because of this. One of the best TV shows I've seen to date.

Two things about Daredevil that I think get short shrift from critics: First, just how different this show is compared to traditional television. The introduction of Frank Castle, a mostly off-camera slow burn that built suspense and anticipation was excellent. The style of storytelling is something that you just wouldn’t see on a traditional one hour, episodic, show. Even a good one. The long form (13 eps to tell one story) is different, and really fun.

The second, and maybe more unusual thing that I absolutely love about DD is that the three main characters, Matt, Foggy, and Karen, are all genuinely good people. They are not - as a great many lead characters seem to be these days - jaded and selfish people who may eventually come around to doing the right thing or making a sacrifice when you least expect it. Instead, they are heroes, people you can count on. They are two guys you might expect to sell their gold watches to buy expensive hair products for their friend who just sold her hair to by them new watch chains. Certainly the show is dark and gritty and violent, but it’s about heroes, not a serial killers, or corrupt politicians, or casual killers. People like that are in the show, too, but they aren’t the protagonists. There is no Don Draper or Red Reddington in a leading role. Not that such characters aren’t interesting too, but it’s just refreshing to be able to really root for good guys, to worry about them and actually hope they make it back from whatever dark alley they’ve wandered into for the sake of someone else.

I read DD in the early 80’s when comics were elevating their game and these characters were really coming into their own. This series makes me feel the same way about them as I did then. I find myself actually admiring them and wanting them to make it through. It’s really great when a TV show can do that too.

I am in complete shock with how the "critics " have reviewed this show. These ratings are a complete farce, I highly suggest that anyone who is reading this to completely ignore the professional critics and listen to your peers. This show is beyond incredible and puts a vast majority of network and cable tv to shame. Something deeper has to be going on with these reviewers, someone is on the take, or maybe I'm just so deeply entrenched in Daredevil that it's coming out on how I feel about reading these reviews.

I don't want to give away much on plot but it improves on everything from the first season and amps up the intensity 10 fold. In closing you are doing yourselves a disservice if you pass on this show, and to the cast and crew keep up the good work and know that the fans absolutely love your work!

The action is almost nonstop, Murdock's beliefs are tested at every turn, and there's even some courtroom and romance drama for you. It's a brutal, exciting return that kept me on the edge of my seat every single second.

The big hook this season is in the introduction of Elektra and The Punisher to the MCU. The latter of whom steals the show. Both characters are perfectly cast and do an excellent job of putting Daredevil through the wringer, both emotionally and physically. Honestly these new characters are so exciting they end up overshadowing the main character himself. It really is The Punisher that makes this season so incredible. Don't get me wrong, the show was already awesome before he showed up, but he really makes things special this time around. I can't give Jon Bernthal's performance enough praise. I really hope he gets his own Punisher show or movie. He is just outstanding.

The pacing issues from the first season aren't to be found here. Yeah, the plot bounces around a lot, but there are no slow moving moments that aren't pushing things forward. There's always something happening and it's usually violent and bloody.

They took the action up a notch. Some of these fights are just absolutely mind-blowing and incredible. They upped the brutality as well. Plenty of gruesome moments to be found. It's a special treat for action aficionados.

Truth be told this season doesn't only just succeed in about every department, it knocks it out of the park. Sure Murdock is often the least interesting person onscreen from time to time, and Stick's "war" ends up being less than what he led on, but overall I was not disappointed with this season. Infact I was impressed. It defied every, already high expectation. This second season not only stands as among the best of what Netflix and the MCU have to offer, but als just super hero shows in general.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With the introduction of fellow vigilantes Frank Castle and Elektra (characters that will be well known to comic book fans) alongside the multiple plot threads that run throughout these thirteen episodes there was a danger that Daredevil's second season could have been a bit of a mess. Fortunately however that is far from being the case and the writers have done a great job of juggling each story-line as well as fully developing the each of the characters. The action scenes, although perhaps too violent for some, are also excellent and just as good as anything you'll see on the big screen (the fight with the biker gang in the stairwell was just phenomenal).

I didn't think this show would improve on its great first season but, if you ask me, it has done just that.

Keeping up with the tradition established in its debut, Daredevil season 2 is a Marvel show that is more defined by internal character conflicts than a larger-than-life scenario where the fate of the world is at stake.

With the introduction of The Punisher (played perfectly by Jon Bernthal), it tackles mass shootouts in the U.S. and the often unfair treatment war veterans receive when they get back home. It doesn't offer a definitive answer, since Frank Castle is not an easy character to figure out. Is he a delinquent, or a necessary evil? Is he that different from Daredevil?

The show also introduces The Hand, and the results there are less successful. I liked the twisted relationship Daredevil has with Elektra, since she brings the best and worst in him. Elodie Yung makes you feel freaked out and sorry for her at the same time, and has nice chemistry with Charlie Cox. However, The Hand's master plan isn't all that interesting (it's barely explained), and its leader, Nobu, is rather one-dimensional and boring.

After two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones, I've concluded that the main issue with them is the pacing. They would improve considerably if they were reduced to 8 or maybe 10 episodes, because with 13 it feels like they drag. In the case of Daredevil season 2, giving Karen Page her own subplot was unnecessary, especially since she's not a particularly compelling character. Not to mention that the conspiracy behind The Punisher got a bit too convoluted.

The things that made season 1 good are still here. Charlie Cox providing a brilliantly understated performance as Daredevil, gritty fight scenes and a deep study about what makes Matt Murdock tick.

In conclusion, Daredevil remains a must-see for comic book fans and one of the best things that Marvel has made.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not sure whether I like season 2 of Daredevil more than the first season or not. There are so many great moments scatted through these 13 episodes. Some of the scenes in this show are so well executed and when this show is its best I think its is probably the best thing Marvel studio has done. Daredevil continues to have great action with well realistic stunts. The Punisher proved to be a great addition and Jon Bernthal gave us the defining portrayal of the character to this point. I found myself completely consumed by Frank Castle and Karen Page, who are my two favorite characters in the show currently. I know some people don't like Foggy Nelson but I find him to be a very enjoyable character as well. The character is meant to represent us. The one big issue I have with this season is that when Wilson Fisk shows up from episode 8-10 the show is really elevated and those episodes are the best of the season. It made me feel like the last few episodes were a little less superior and even though the finale was good I don't think it was better than the first season's finale. The Defenders series will likely be released before we get a season 3 of Daredevil but this show managed to live up to the hype. I hope they can get Wilson Fisk more involved again in Season 3. Even if Marvel wasn't associated with this at all, Daredevil would still be one of the best crime/vigilante dramas out there. It's just great storytelling elevated by its superhero backdrop, with classic characters like Wilson Fisk and The Punisher butting heads with Matt Murdock through insanely choreographed fight sequences (the best in Marvel history) in the dark, gritty streets of Hell's Kitchen. Daredevil shows the grimier side of Marvel for sure, not quite as disturbing as Jessica Jones, but there's a fair share of graphic imagery. It's never gratuitous, though. The violence is real and raw, and you believe the wounds Daredevil gets in his numerous altercations, painfully so. Every little detail is accounted for, from the functionality of Foggy and Matt's lawyer firm to the martial arts techniques used in the many mind-blowingly impressive fight scenes. It all works so well; the writing is sharp, sometimes slow and brooding but it always pays off, and it's character-driven without delving into soap opera territory like many comic book shows do (though the Elektra storyline comes close).

Wilson Fisk is one of the best villains to come out of Marvel live action universe, played to perfection by Vincent D'Onofrio. The acting all around is top-notch. Charlie Cox gives a convincing performance of the blind lawyer vigilante, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher is superb. You begin to care about every character though, even the antagonists. Frank Castle is a written as a fully fleshed out person - he does what he does for a reason that's very personal to him, and you understand why and you care. Even Foggy and Karen, who I didn't care much for in season 1, grew on me by season 2 and I really came to like some of their arcs.

The first four episodes of season 2 might be the best stretch of comic book episodes put to screen, ever. It's unbelievable. Seeing that alone should sell you on the show (but you should most certainly start with season 1). Daredevil is just something you have to experience if you're a comic book fan, or an action fan, or a fan of quality television. It's that good.

The show kicks off with a bang starting off with the introduction of the punisher and goes from there, its brilliant first 4-5 episodes focuses mainly on the punishers' rampage which does well to convey his skills but doesn't make him op to the point that its ridiculous. The fight scene of daredevil fighting his way through the biker gang on the stairwell is so well shot and put together, if there was an oscar for fight scenes this would be a serious contender. The introduction of Electra was okayish, im just sick of the tired trope that theres this mysterious girl that the main character knows from the past, shes a femme fatale and can make the main C act out on a moments notice. But she does grow on you and so does her storyline. The series stays strong, unlike Jessica jones which fizzled out and became crap about 7 episodes in this maintains the story well and keeps the audience satiated.

The reason I created a profile and chose to write about this show, is to support what was created here. Daredevil Season 2 is amazing.

    The good:
    - The best part of this show is The Punisher. Hands down, stole the show. I would give anything to have a standalone Punisher series with Jon Bernthal. Incredibly well written and acted.

    - I'm sick and tired of the "no kill policy" in super hero tales. Done with it in Arrow. Done with it here. Not only does it lead to predictable story outcomes (bad guys come back to hurt others), at this point it's just weak writing that shows a 1-dimensional character.

    Conclusion:
Even if I have a huge problem with heroes/main characters that grasp desperately the notion of a non-lethal way of life. This show is some of the best Marvel has to offer. The action and fight scenes are on par with block buster movies and left me very satisfied. The story has many elements that kept me wondering how they would fit together and turn out. And because I can stress it enough, The Punisher was the best part of this show. Every aspect of his character feels like a perfect representation of the comic book character.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As promised, I want to wrap up my thoughts on the sexiest show I?ve ever seen on Netflix [or in general,] Marvel?s Daredevil Season 2.

If you haven?t already, you can read my first impressions here, where I talk about my likes, dislikes and desires of the show.

Honestly the first two episodes were nothing compared to the direction this show took. I thought it capitalized on the major theme of perspective. It did a swanky as hell job breaking the season up into 4 arcs that focused on each perspective and then culminated with and epic and climactic fallout.

Daredevil likes what he does. He believes he can provide the justice Hell?s Kitchen needs without the cost of death, while Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher, believes death is the only option. Elektra is on the same boat with The Punisher as well. Having this ?death no matter what? mentality definitely provided Matt Murdock with a challenge that made this season superior to its predecessor.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there were a few things I did not like as the season rolled out. One of them being the Irish gang scene. I will admit, that it did pay off later in the season with the remaining Irish mob taking on Frank Castle. On that note too, I did have major issues with Foggy, but he quickly redeemed himself starting from when he broke up the two gang members in the hospital. The rest of the season, Foggy delivered.

I did in fact get to see a lot of what I had desired earlier on. I wanted to see The Punisher kick more ass; he kicked major ass. I would say altogether The Punisher stole the show. Episode 3 would have to be my favourite of the entire season. The chat between Daredevil and The Punisher on their ideals was amazing and then Frank?s monologue on what happened to his family brought it home for me. I feel the creators did a perfect job of making me empathize with the guy **** made me cry.]

In the same episode we got the hallway scene 2.0 with Daredevil merking a bunch of gang members in the stairwell. It is easily the best shot scene in television history.

As The Punisher?s arc came to a close, we were introduced to Matthew Murdock?s ex-lover Elektra Notchios. Just when things were getting good between Karen and Matt, [I 100% approve of this relationship btw #teamkarenandmatt] Elektra comes in to just **** with everyone. Matt all of a sudden lets down Nelson and Murdock a during the most important trial, well?ever. I can say that I LOVED Elektra and Daredevil?s chemistry though, but I was more engaged in the People vs the Punisher arc. I was hoping for Kingpin?s trial this season, but instead we got Frank Castle having to take the stand. Can I just say that all this lawyer and court stuff is so awesome to have. I wish Season 1 would have had half the amount of lawyer content this season had.

Anyways, I think the show did well with pacing. By breaking it up into little arcs, I was always entertained and it felt like a new show every 3 or 4 episodes.

Now, when Kingpin came in after Punisher was brought to the same prison as him, I almost **** my pants. Like actually, I ran to the bathroom, brought my laptop and had to **** I really didn?t even think we would get a glimpse of Wilson Fisk this season as much as I wanted to see his trial. That freaking said, he was EXTREMELY intimidating this time around. Last season, he came off as a big, fat baby. This time though he was actually terrifying. The way he manipulated Frank in murdering a **** ton of inmates and then eventually setting him free to clear the streets for when he is ready to take over Hell?s Kitchen?**** Marvel knows what they are doing. Then when Matt knew Fisk was the one who released Castle and went to pay him a visit. That conversation legit had me at the edge of the toilet [as if I was watching 3 episodes straight while still dropping it like its hot.] Murdock was literally defenceless against this brute. This was the rise of the real Kingpin. Damn?I?m excited for him to hit the streets of Hell?s Kitchen in season 3.

Here is where the season got a little wonky for me?

    The Hand.

To be honest, I did not find them THAT intimidating. Although that one scene with them scaling the hospital to save the children of the corn was hella dope, they just had no substance. They reminded me of the League of Assassins in Arrow. A team that?s purpose is so vague, they really have no purpose to be there. They did provide some awesome action opportunities for both Daredevil and Elektra. Other than that, I could have done without them. And Stick, I actually hate the character with a passion. I literally take a nap when he comes on screen.

The culmination of the season was very climactic. I loved the scene where Elektra and Daredevil are deciding where they should die; in the building or on the roof. I also liked how Punisher was declared dead and he finally donned the skull on his chest. I feel that as much as the final episode was a set up for maybe a Punisher series or Defenders arc, it definitely did a near perfect job of developing Matt Murdock as Daredevil, Karen Page as a journalist and Foggy as a powered-people lawyer.

    Overall:

+ The theme of the show is beautifully executed through the ideals and perspectives of each character. It makes you question who is right and who is wrong.

    + The action, hands down.

+ The Punisher steals the show through his intricate backstory and arc.

+ Elektra brings a profound energy to the show.

+ All the supporting characters from last season (Foggy, Karen and Wilson Fisk) redeem themselves in a colossal way.

+Daredevil was developed with care and precision to make him the hero we know and love from the comics.

? The hand, Stick and Black Sky garbage.

Nearly all of the Punisher-focused stuff is perfect, and episode 3 of season 2 is probably the best episode in the series so far. Overall though, not quite as strong as the first season in terms of innovation, characterization (especially villains), or pacing. This is mostly due to sluggishness and repetitiveness in the final stretch of the season.

Yet the action is fever-pitch, constant, brutal, and amazing, and everything else about season 2 is so stellar that I feel confident saying that "Daredevil" is currently the greatest Marvel franchise in ANY medium (other than the comics themselves), including the MCU films (Iron Man franchise, Avengers franchise, Capt. America etc.).

The working class hero from Hell´s Kitchen comes back with new challenges and dillemas; particullarly the increasingly heavy secret of his double identity. The addition of The Punisher and Elektra increase the curiosity of viewer.

For many people the second season was a step back, for me it wasn't it was actually better.
Not only did they deepen in The Hand but the inclusion of Elektra and The Punisher were excellent achievements for the series.

More action, more violence, more emotion, certainly was a great season.

Daredevil: Season 2 is a marvelous second season (no pun intended). The characters are still wonderful as well as the outstandingly great action sequences. I loved the introduction to Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle and he steals every scene that he's in. My only complaint is that this season has some pacing issues and certain parts didn't transition well. The story thickends, And I love how all the characters evolve. This is how a super hero show should be. And its baffels me how DD failed on the big screen. Good that TV shows get bigger budgets.

Also, there were significantly less plotholes and unexplained phenomena this season than last season, which was a big plus to me since those were what killed last season for me. Expand

Daredevil dosen't bring the excitement, of what I wanted to see... Further more, The Punisher really my biggest impression since he shows-up! Although, I wonder, why does Castle story changes, he was supposed to be shot by the Italian Mob (led by Jigsaw which, maybe explored in his own series), why the Irish, Dogs of Hell, & the Cartel (NO SPOILER!), who's the Blacksmith?

A perfect followup for a perfect first season. Daredevil season 2 made once again marathon so that I could finish the season the fastest possible to go talk about it. Such well-casted actors/actress cannot be found in any other show. The story can make anyone feel the tension. Elektra's addition was banal. The Hand storyline would have had so much more impact had it been condensed to the latter half of the season. Hogarth has no scars to show if this is before or after the Killgrave storyline.

The Hand story i felt was at its best when it shows how Matt is stuck between two worlds and how the balancing act was doomed to fail. And the supporting cast of Foggy and Karen are not just left to wait for Matt as they each have there own compelling stories. I really enjoyed the Punisher storyline and the more down to earth action scenes. I was not that keen on the flights of fantasy supernatural storyline with Electra and I feel the Electra actress was miscast for the role. The chemistry just didn't work between DareDevil and Electra. The Punisher character was awesome so up for his series. Expand

Mr. Cox and Elden Hanson, as Foggy, do earnestness well and put across the sometimes dopey dialogue better than you’d have a right to expect. There’s not, however, a lot of wit or shading to their performances--the writing can be blamed, but they could be doing more to amplify it, to make the show more fun. For that, we can turn to Deborah Ann Woll, who jolts the show to life every time she appears as Karen.
