I have watched every episode of season 1 now. Each episode was fantastic. This is the first time I have ever seen Daredevil portrayed so accurately outside of the comics.

This is why I'll never listen to critics, they are almost always wrong. Just look at the recent string of terrible games that have extremely high ratings. Now daredevil proves how corrupt they are. At least metacritic brings user reviews and that's the only thing people should follow.

Critics got this one wrong so badly. This season blows the first, which was fantastic, out of the water. Jon Bernthal as The Punisher is an example of a perfect casting. All this aside, the second season of Daredevil is phenomenal and is building greatly upon its amazing first season and improves on all fronts. The cast and crew behind this masterpiece are great and you can feel their love for the characters through great acting and writing in this near-perfect piece of media.
Good job daredevil, keep the quality coming and disregard the disgraceful reviews your getting from simple minded lowlife journalists.

Though I felt this season started off not as successful as the first, it quickly redeemed itself by introducing and expanding on such great characters as Elektra, The Punisher, Stick and Nobu. The sheer brilliance of bringing us further into the world of Frank Miller's classic comic combined with the realism of the Marvel Television Universe has this viewer excited for what is coming next.

Season 2 of Daredevil is a real tonal pasting mess. Its not, by any means necessary, bad, in fact its still pretty fantastic compared to most tv shows out their. But their are some serious issues in this season.

Firstly the whole thing really does just feel like a cock-tease for The Punisher, which isn't really that bad because the show really does an excellent job at setting up the character and really making you feel for such a broken character. But it all does just feel like a set up.

My biggest complaint really with this season though is just the whole Electra story-line that really does become the meat of the seasons. Its incredibly slow, sluggish and just gets in the way of the whole Punisher story-line that was just much more exciting and interesting to watch. But otherwise I really did enjoy Electra as a character, the actor was absolutely fantastic, sadly the writing and set up just didn't really pay off for this season.

I also really wish this season had more religious aspects to it, much like in the first, and really focused more on the eternal struggle of Matt Murdock being pushed to the limit, especially with the likes of the Punisher, I also really wish the story took more time to develop with slowly build up instead of feeling like it had to rush through all these plot points. Like more character dynamic and focus would have been nice.

But overall its a great show, I highly recommend watching the second season because it is still superb tv and hopefully the next season will basically solve all my issues. Can't wait for the net season.

To keep the action going, like a metronome keeping time, a new army of ninjas will show up to get their butt kicked in all their acrobatic glory. The problem is that there isn't much time spent building up a coherent threat for our hero to fight. Instead we get multiple origin stories and a general feeling that some bad guys are out there doing bad things.

The season is definitely worth a watch and the middle part is enjoyable. Just know that the beginning is a bit slow and the end is unsatisfying. If I didn't know better I say that "the management committee" meddled with the plot in order to set up as many spin off series as possible. The irony of season 2 is that is fails where the Netflix model is suppose to show its strength. Instead of using the certainty of a full season and the ability of viewers to binge watch to tell a full and complete story, season 2 comes off as a potpourri of half thought out ideas.

Even if Marvel wasn't associated with this at all, Daredevil would still be one of the best crime/vigilante dramas out there. It's just great storytelling elevated by its superhero backdrop, with classic characters like Wilson Fisk and The Punisher butting heads with Matt Murdock through insanely choreographed fight sequences (the best in Marvel history) in the dark, gritty streets of Hell's Kitchen. Daredevil shows the grimier side of Marvel for sure, not quite as disturbing as Jessica Jones, but there's a fair share of graphic imagery. It's never gratuitous, though. The violence is real and raw, and you believe the wounds Daredevil gets in his numerous altercations, painfully so. Every little detail is accounted for, from the functionality of Foggy and Matt's lawyer firm to the martial arts techniques used in the many mind-blowingly impressive fight scenes. It all works so well; the writing is sharp, sometimes slow and brooding but it always pays off, and it's character-driven without delving into soap opera territory like many comic book shows do (though the Elektra storyline comes close).

Wilson Fisk is one of the best villains to come out of Marvel live action universe, played to perfection by Vincent D'Onofrio. The acting all around is top-notch. Charlie Cox gives a convincing performance of the blind lawyer vigilante, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher is superb. You begin to care about every character though, even the antagonists. Frank Castle is a written as a fully fleshed out person - he does what he does for a reason that's very personal to him, and you understand why and you care. Even Foggy and Karen, who I didn't care much for in season 1, grew on me by season 2 and I really came to like some of their arcs.

The first four episodes of season 2 might be the best stretch of comic book episodes put to screen, ever. It's unbelievable. Seeing that alone should sell you on the show (but you should most certainly start with season 1). Daredevil is just something you have to experience if you're a comic book fan, or an action fan, or a fan of quality television. It's that good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first season was mesmerizing, in large part due to the fact that the on-screen drama was just as electrifying as the action. Scenes were filled with palpable tension and real emotion. I rated it 5 stars on Netflix without compunction.

This season was kind of a hot mess. The first problem was that they divided this season in half and it resulted in ridiculous mood whiplash. The first half was a gritty crime drama that questioned what it was to be a hero and how vigilantism helped/hurt the community. Then suddenly the second half was about zombie ninjas and a HORRIBLY shoehorned love story plotline.

I believe that either of these arcs could have worked if they had been given their own season. They could have focused on making the between-fight scenes as gripping as in the first season instead of rushing into poor resolutions so they could move on to the next mediocre plot point. Although the writing of the Elektra half was much weaker. That could have used a lot of work.

The cinematography and imagination weren't there in spades like they were in season 1 either. Don't get me wrong, there were some amazing shots, but those were balanced out with fight scenes that were too dark or scenes that were too long and plodding for no real gain.

Frank Castle was probably the most interesting character of the season, and I honestly think the series would have been better off if they had used him as the main character for this one since Matt's character had little/no impact or gravitas in what was happening. He just kind of reacted to stuff.

Karen and Foggy took character development, although Karen's transition into reporter was a bit ham-fisted. It's always good to see Stick. The DA was a joke, super cliche lines and situations. Elektra was... a mixed bag at best. Her lack of compunction for killing would have been an interesting counterpoint to Daredevil... except they already explored that with Frank Castle, so it was double-dipping. The scenes with Fisk were of course excellent, as D'onofrio reprises his role with the same brilliance as Season 1. Claire Temple, who was electrifying in Season 1, is given a complete nonsense side plot that does not even come close to showcasing her talent.

It all led up to the giant pile that was the final episode. Random catchphrases about focusing and heroism, a horribly misplaced and completely out of character scene between Elektra and Matt with him willing to renounce New York for her (despite the fact that she sickened him not two episodes earlier), a ludicrous fight scene against a ton of ninjas with the cops just kind of sitting around (and not watching, apparently, as Stick just walked past). Daredevil's problems with killing kind of dissolve and Elektra and Frank murder numerous ninjas without so much as a finger wag from Matt. I guess when the chips are down killing is just fine, as long as he is just watching? Then end it with a weird misplaced soliloquy from Karen in the guise of an article that "only she can write" about the nature of heroism, that really would have been much more at home during the Punisher-focused episodes, and really had no personal edge at all, just platitudes and vagaries.

In the end, the action was there (beating the crap out of an entire biker gang was pretty amazing) but the drama was not. Matt's character just kind of reacted to things, while everyone else in Hell's Kitchen took the horns. Hopefully Season 3 will have much better focus and cause me to bring Daredevil's rating back up to a 5 again... though that ship may have permanently sailed now.

At first I had my doubts about Jon Bernthal portraying Frank Castle but considering how they've written him in this particular series I think he does an excellent job; even though I would have preferred Ray Stevenson in the role as he brought more of a trained soldier feel to the role in War Zone and he looked just like Frank Castiglione from War Zone. I do, however, appreciate that they ramped up the gore and violence for this season--simply because I was worried that they would treat The Punisher like a PG-13 character (see the 2004 version of 'The Punisher'). He brought a lot of dynamics to the ethics of justice vs vigilantism.

If I had a few gripes it's that some of the fighting looked fake and rain makers always look fake--both are pretty minor. The villians aren't exactly as compelling or detailed as the previous season but it also means that this series moves along MUCH quicker! Over all a definite improvement over the first season and I enjoyed that Frank Castle loves his coffee. That was a nice touch. I hope he gets his own show and we get to see him use more tactics than a meathead rage monster approach to offing criminals, his van and Microchip.

Season 2 of Daredevil was really really enjoyable, compared to Season 1 although it was a good season it was BORING,now with Daredevil's origin story out of the way season 2 offers more action, good story lines and THE PUNISHER.

Daredevil is pretty much it's own Spiderman 2 as Matt Murdock deals with the challenge of living a double life as you can see as the series goes, parts of his life start getting demolished because of it and this was interesting as you got to see the way how he handled it.The action was of-course epic, during the first episodes there isn't a lot of action but as you go deeper the action is amped up as you get to see Daredvil take on ninjas and i don't see anything better than that, also with the addition of Punisher and Elektra fight scenes are more brutal and bloody and you're just entertained throughout.

With a new season comes new characters like Frank Castle(The Punisher) and Elektra, both these characters were good and brought different elements to the show.Jon bernthal's Punisher was a nice addition because he challenged Daredevil philosophy about not killing criminal's and you get to understand both characters reason's for they different ideologies which was really interesting because Daredevil really struggled through this arc the entire season. The Punisher also had his own story arc this season as the main focus was on the Death of his family and getting revenge, there was an upside and downside to this. The upside was for the first time you felt sympathy for The Punisher which the movies could never do,i mean this character is brutal, bashful and just plain violent but Daredevil brings a certain humanity to Frank Castle and this was aided by Jon bernthal's performance as he acted the part nicely. Now the downside was Frank Castle's arc began to die down as the next episodes start to come along because his story starts to get a little longer than it's supposed to be and it just starts dragging on and on and comes to a dissatisfying conclusion after investing so much into this character and his full transformation into The Punisher is shoehorned in and feels out of place.

Another addition was Elodie Yung's Elektra, when Elektra is first introduced to the show she brought up this new vibe to the show,The chemistry between Matt Murdock and Elektra is really good and their relationship is one of the strongest elements in Season 2.Elektra brings a fun element to the show as she brings wit and a certain fun danger.Elektra's arc was also interesting(more interesting than The Punisher) as she teams up with Daredevil to face The Hand(Season 2 villains),and although The Hand weren't as good a villain as Wilson Fisk, the Hand made the show more comic-booky and soft of mystical element, and for a show as grounded as Daredevil it was good for them to pull it off even though some things were rather confusing and never really resolved.

The Supporting characters like Karen Paige,Nelson Foggy also have their own story arcs with Karen dealing this consequences of Season 1,romance with Daredevil and an involvement with The Punisher and Foggy dealing with being his friendship with Matt and challenges with their Law firm, these were equally satisfying stories and well deserved as they don't take a back seat to all that's happening around them although Karen's story with the punisher drags on sometimes.

Now the pacing, man this show took it's time on certain things and it became rather boring at times as the slow pace killed the show's momentum at time as there wouldn't be any character developments at all just people talking and talking and talking which became BORING,this was also a problem with Season1 but thankfully the show's pace picks up during the last few episodes. Also i find it frustrating that a show called Daredevil can hold back on the comic book/superhero element,it is understandable that the show can focus on human elements but that becomes tedious as the show didn't show enough Daredevil during the first episodes and this was really frustrating for a series based on a comic book.

So Daredevil Season 2 for me was a good, enjoyable season,it was better action, more interesting characters, nice story arc and new and mysterious villains that kept me excited thought it had pacing problems and sometimes it was just plain BORING, that didn't ruin the Season and i can't wait for Season 3.

While they are few and far between, you really get the sense of the type of inner conflict he's going through and how much he is really different Daredevil himself and what he allows himself to be. Elodie Yung as Elektra does a very good job as well but the star of this season is easily the Punisher and I hope to see him involved in the future of all these shows on Netflix. It really was a season of growth for all of the characters, even if some of them were left behind a tad towards the end of the season. The story is great up until the last few episodes where things are a bit rushed to get to the conclusion. I lost some interest as well as the season took a different tun around episode 10 that really set up for the conclusion. It's a brutal, exciting return that kept me on the edge of my seat every single second.

The big hook this season is in the introduction of Elektra and The Punisher to the MCU. The latter of whom steals the show. Both characters are perfectly cast and do an excellent job of putting Daredevil through the wringer, both emotionally and physically. Honestly these new characters are so exciting they end up overshadowing the main character himself. It really is The Punisher that makes this season so incredible. Don't get me wrong, the show was already awesome before he showed up, but he really makes things special this time around. I can't give Jon Bernthal's performance enough praise. I really hope he gets his own Punisher show or movie. He is just outstanding.

The pacing issues from the first season aren't to be found here. Yeah, the plot bounces around a lot, but there are no slow moving moments that aren't pushing things forward. There's always something happening and it's usually violent and bloody.

They took the action up a notch. Some of these fights are just absolutely mind-blowing and incredible. They upped the brutality as well. Plenty of gruesome moments to be found. It's a special treat for action aficionados.

Truth be told this season doesn't only just succeed in about every department, it knocks it out of the park. Sure Murdock is often the least interesting person onscreen from time to time, and Stick's "war" ends up being less than what he led on, but overall I was not disappointed with this season. Infact I was impressed. It defied every, already high expectation. This second season not only stands as among the best of what Netflix and the MCU have to offer, but als just super hero shows in general.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a fun season. I probably had even more fun with it than with the previous one. However, the final episode was kind of a letdown for me. That's not to say that it was bad, but it still didn't quite live up to everything that season two managed to build up beforehand.

Still, season two had a lot of things going for it. All the characters that I liked in season one were great here as well: Matt, Stick and Fisk. Foggy and Karen had a lot of screen time and received tons of development which felt satisfying for the most part. Additionally, Claire's and Hogarth's returns were a nice touch. The characters that joined in season two were very solid: Elektra and especially Frank Castle.

The performances were overall enjoyable, with Bernthal doing an exceptional job as the Punisher. I appreciated the cinematography and musical score this season as well.

Overall, this was still a good run, and I'm definitely sticking around for the next season.

How did that happen? It's better than season 1!! What? Yes it's better than season 1 as series 2 embraces it's comic roots with every episode is packed to the brim with drama, action and ninjas!! So far the best comic book to tv adaptation. I don't know how season 3 could top this... Oh yeah and The Punisher... he's crazy good. Enjoy it!

DD still has great fight choreography, this time coupled with an extra dose of blood and violence.
Only gripe I have is that I think the show ran out of gas towards the very end, both in its writing and action choreography. Still good but I think overall it ended on a low.

Not only does it deliver on its very high expectations, it really gets the story going and leaving you craving for a possible 3rd season.

The plot, the exceptional execution and great pace add up to what I believe is truly the best super-hero show/movie ever displayed. (Idk why it got such a low score. Its great go see it now.)

Does Netflix hit its mark? Not even close. Season two now follows our favorite visually-challenged hero on some non-lawyer missions through his neighborhood, Hell's Kitchen. While season one focused on, or at least kept in mind, innovation, this season makes you feel like your watching slightly more grown up version of the CW's Arrow.

From the first few episodes, it immediately triggers the notion that perhaps Netflix cares more about subscribers and less about content. Aside from stuffing each episode with lackluster "dance" fight sequences and tiring witty glances, it lacks real edge, the type of edge that Netflix clearly has, as seen with the latest season of House of Cards.

"Daredevil" begins to show a departure from the print Daredevil as a cautious law-inflicting strategist to dial tone do-gooder sparing the city's most wanted. Yes, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is indeed conflicted but in an archaic fashion. His no-kill policy no matter how severe the felony reduces him to a singular dimension mostly due to the savage actions of his opposite, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal). The Ying Yang nature of Castle and Murdock's personas works well until Castle breaks loose from his antihero chains and just wreaks havoc on anyone in sight.

One notable example is the hospital scene where Castle is revealed. There, Castle tracks down Grotto, a member of the Irish gang who is guarded by Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and with a sawed-off shotgun mows down everything in sight in hopes of ending grotto. "Everything in sight" entails Page, hospital equipment and innocent bystanders entrusted to save lives.

For a military man capable of following precise directive, he sure doesn't. This single act dismisses him as any type of hero and further adds to the series' preposterous views on superhero ethos. Speaking of the outlandish, the creation of antagonists that cater to our hero's disability is starting to poke pretty big holes at our suspension of disbelief.

Incorporating ninjas is a lazy safe play and disregarding that guns actually exist due to the fact that it might and will eviscerate any chance of more complex storytelling is really a low blow to the modern superhero. In addition, the creation of new limits to Murdock's powers including the ability to hone in on the faintest of sounds begs the question: "Why don't the antagonists blare death metal during each fight?" Easy win. Seriously.

On a more positive note, Elektra's (Élodie Yung) introduction into this Inferno points the series into the right direction in respects to gender equality but it's pretty clear she exists more as character support to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen rather than a character in her own right.

From a cinematic perspective, it's still a gritty nihilistic atmosphere, reminiscent of live-action Max Payne. However, as one would expect, the cinematography works only in favor of masking the tiresome and somewhat unenthusiastic fight sequences and forcing dramatic tension.

"Daredevil's" bag of generic action-drama techniques stemming from early '90s Hollywood gnaws at your patience. Its inattentive cutting and TV pacing catapults each scene to undesirably awkward heights. It's similar to be asked to paint a wall and forced to watch it dry. Peppered with time-killing flashbacks, one too many Inception horn swells and unwanted slow motion shots, this season may leave you with a piercing aftertaste not even alcohol can wash away.

The term "Daredevil" appropriately reflects the current state of the series: a reckless studio who flirts disastrously with its own content.

In the first season I got much closer to the characters, because there were also comic reliefs and ordinary settings in which you could find Matt and the others just being "normal". Now all is gone dark and everything is solved with violence. I understand that the dramatically arc is playing with this almost unsolvable situation, and that everything is so terrible to make the characters suffer more - but this one way street also drives you away from them. The show kicks off with a bang starting off with the introduction of the punisher and goes from there, its brilliant first 4-5 episodes focuses mainly on the punishers' rampage which does well to convey his skills but doesn't make him op to the point that its ridiculous. The fight scene of daredevil fighting his way through the biker gang on the stairwell is so well shot and put together, if there was an oscar for fight scenes this would be a serious contender. The introduction of Electra was okayish, im just sick of the tired trope that theres this mysterious girl that the main character knows from the past, shes a femme fatale and can make the main C act out on a moments notice. But she does grow on you and so does her storyline. The series stays strong, unlike Jessica jones which fizzled out and became crap about 7 episodes in this maintains the story well and keeps the audience satiated.

    Also Arrow sucks balls, muwahaha!!

Season 1 was great. Definitely was my personal favourite thing that Marvel Studios has probably ever produced. Unfortunately, despite the first season actually having weight and maturitySeason 1 was great. Definitely was my personal favourite thing that Marvel Studios has probably ever produced. It's such a shame, though, that this show devolves so rapidly and falls apart into a hot mess of plots and subplots, and constant introduction of characters to build us up to further series and spin-offs. Unfortunately, despite the first season actually having weight and maturity in the presentation of its characters and their issues, it fell into the classic superhero trap of "invincible superhero beats X amount of goons with little to no effort", while also filling the classic Marvel Studios quota of setting as much up as possible.
The acting, is on the whole alright, with Jon Bernthal giving the most memorable and 3 Dimensional rendition of The Punisher to date, and it's such a shame when his character arc begins to feel forced to its disappointing anticlimax. Élodie Yung plays the arrogant assassin Elektra, and though a damned sight better than the 2004 presentation, the character gets annoying before too long. As for the rest of the characters, I suppose they're all just about the same as before. Murdoch loses his charm somewhat, but still Foggy Nelson is goofy and Karen Page is the loveable mother-figure, whose romantic inclinations felt natural. In fact, Deborah Ann Woll's consistent performance between both seasons is worthy of praise.

The big bad gets a bit muddled, as the lines between main plot and subplot get blurred midway through the series, and unfortunately, it ends up being the more faceless, generic villain that ends up getting the big spot, and this is what leads to the aforementioned boring, vapid fight scenes, involving droves of supposed armed martial arts experts getting beaten up effortlessly by the protagonist. Such a shame. What's even more of a shame though is the squandered potential of the Punisher storyline's conclusion being pushed to a mere afterthought, where his moral dilemma is far more interesting than the contrived main villain's interests. The big bad organisation's costumes became comically (and not meaning the source material) low quality, and the supernatural elements made me feel like I was watching a hammy superhero TV show from The CW.

In the end, I'm just left saddened by the state in which it ended; and while there were some strong performances, some memorable action set pieces, and my favourite Punisher so far; the squandered potential to create something that was overall memorable and original, perhaps along a similar vein to the first series, really disappointed. 5/10

These ratings are a complete farce, I highly suggest that anyone who is reading this to completely ignore the professional critics and listen to your peers. This show is beyond incredible and puts a vast majority of network and cable tv to shame. Something deeper has to be going on with these reviewers, someone is on the take, or maybe I'm just so deeply entrenched in Daredevil that it's coming out on how I feel about reading these reviews.

Keeping up with the tradition established in its debut, Daredevil season 2 is a Marvel show that is more defined by internal character conflicts than a larger-than-life scenario where the fate of the world is at stake.

With the introduction of The Punisher (played perfectly by Jon Bernthal), it tackles mass shootouts in the U.S. and the often unfair treatment war veterans receive when they get back home. It doesn't offer a definitive answer, since Frank Castle is not an easy character to figure out. Is he a delinquent, or a necessary evil? Is he that different from Daredevil?

The show also introduces The Hand, and the results there are less successful. I liked the twisted relationship Daredevil has with Elektra, since she brings the best and worst in him. Elodie Yung makes you feel freaked out and sorry for her at the same time, and has nice chemistry with Charlie Cox. However, The Hand's master plan isn't all that interesting (it's barely explained), and its leader, Nobu, is rather one-dimensional and boring.

After two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones, I've concluded that the main issue with them is the pacing. They would improve considerably if they were reduced to 8 or maybe 10 episodes, because with 13 it feels like they drag. In the case of Daredevil season 2, giving Karen Page her own subplot was unnecessary, especially since she's not a particularly compelling character. Not to mention that the conspiracy behind The Punisher got a bit too convoluted.

The things that made season 1 good are still here. Charlie Cox providing a brilliantly understated performance as Daredevil, gritty fight scenes and a deep study about what makes Matt Murdock tick.

In conclusion, Daredevil remains a must-see for comic book fans and one of the best things that Marvel has made.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My wife and I watched the second season of Daredevil in two sittings. Overall, I loved this addition to the Netflix + Marvel universe. The reason I created a profile and chose to write about this show, is to support what was created here. Daredevil Season 2 is amazing.

    The good:
    - The best part of this show is The Punisher. Hands down, stole the show. I would give anything to have a standalone Punisher series with Jon Bernthal. Incredibly well written and acted.
    - Action scenes were top notch. Many of the fight scenes made me squirm with glee.
    - Many interesting plot threads that showed up unexpectedly that kept the story interesting and unpredictable.

    The bad:
    - I'm sick and tired of the "no kill policy" in super hero tales. Done with it in Arrow. Done with it here. Not only does it lead to predictable story outcomes (bad guys come back to hurt others), at this point it's just weak writing that shows a 1-dimensional character.

    Conclusion:
Even if I have a huge problem with heroes/main characters that grasp desperately the notion of a non-lethal way of life. This show is some of the best Marvel has to offer. The action and fight scenes are on par with block buster movies and left me very satisfied. The story has many elements that kept me wondering how they would fit together and turn out. And because I can stress it enough, The Punisher was the best part of this show. Every aspect of his character feels like a perfect representation of the comic book character.

This is a great show, possibly one of my favorite ever. The only thing is, Foggy is portrait by the worst actor ever. They need to get rid of this annoying person who you can tell is trying to remember his lines during the show. All he does is whine. Other than that, Netflix is a must have thanks to its very high quality exclusive shows they produce!

Outstanding, intense, action packed and emotionally impactful. Many story lines weave together well and only ocassionally misstep. You know there must be a lot of good stuff going on if you find yourself wishing for episodes that focus more on secondary characters and less on the main. I prey they leave room for a punisher spin off. But then again I've only seen up to episode ten. Superb!

It was awesome but not perfect.I think Elektra's story wasn't as strong as The Punisher's and of course this season has suffered from the lack of a charismatic villain like Wilson Fisk.

I really enjoyed this season. The flow of it is different than the first season, but I liked the questions they explored, the acting was excellent, and I feel like it had a definitive end even though they leave some things open and set up mysteries for future seasons to explore.

Reading through negative reviews you'll find some people stopped in the middle, but you'd miss quite a bit of good stuff doing that. Just like the first season I find that overall the show produces what s to me, just the right balance between intellectual and physical action, and does an amazing job with keeping so many relationships in play and interesting.

As others have noted the Punisher was especially great, and I've never really been into that character before.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As promised, I want to wrap up my thoughts on the sexiest show I?ve ever seen on Netflix [or in general,] Marvel?s Daredevil Season 2.

If you haven?t already, you can read my first impressions here, where I talk about my likes, dislikes and desires of the show.

Honestly the first two episodes were nothing compared to the direction this show took. I thought it capitalized on the major theme of perspective. It did a swanky as hell job breaking the season up into 4 arcs that focused on each perspective and then culminated with and epic and climactic fallout.

Daredevil likes what he does. He believes he can provide the justice Hell?s Kitchen needs without the cost of death, while Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher, believes death is the only option. Elektra is on the same boat with The Punisher as well. Having this ?death no matter what? mentality definitely provided Matt Murdock with a challenge that made this season superior to its predecessor.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there were a few things I did not like as the season rolled out. One of them being the Irish gang scene. I will admit, that it did pay off later in the season with the remaining Irish mob taking on Frank Castle. On that note too, I did have major issues with Foggy, but he quickly redeemed himself starting from when he broke up the two gang members in the hospital. The rest of the season, Foggy delivered.

I did in fact get to see a lot of what I had desired earlier on. I wanted to see The Punisher kick more ass; he kicked major ass. I would say altogether The Punisher stole the show. Episode 3 would have to be my favourite of the entire season. The chat between Daredevil and The Punisher on their ideals was amazing and then Frank?s monologue on what happened to his family brought it home for me. I feel the creators did a perfect job of making me empathize with the guy **** made me cry.]

In the same episode we got the hallway scene 2.0 with Daredevil merking a bunch of gang members in the stairwell. It is easily the best shot scene in television history.

As The Punisher?s arc came to a close, we were introduced to Matthew Murdock?s ex-lover Elektra Notchios. Just when things were getting good between Karen and Matt, [I 100% approve of this relationship btw #teamkarenandmatt] Elektra comes in to just **** with everyone. Matt all of a sudden lets down Nelson and Murdock a during the most important trial, well?ever. I can say that I LOVED Elektra and Daredevil?s chemistry though, but I was more engaged in the People vs the Punisher arc. I was hoping for Kingpin?s trial this season, but instead we got Frank Castle having to take the stand. Can I just say that all this lawyer and court stuff is so awesome to have. I wish Season 1 would have had half the amount of lawyer content this season had.

Anyways, I think the show did well with pacing. By breaking it up into little arcs, I was always entertained and it felt like a new show every 3 or 4 episodes.

Now, when Kingpin came in after Punisher was brought to the same prison as him, I almost **** my pants. Like actually, I ran to the bathroom, brought my laptop and had to **** I really didn?t even think we would get a glimpse of Wilson Fisk this season as much as I wanted to see his trial. That freaking said, he was EXTREMELY intimidating this time around. Last season, he came off as a big, fat baby. This time though he was actually terrifying. The way he manipulated Frank in murdering a **** ton of inmates and then eventually setting him free to clear the streets for when he is ready to take over Hell?s Kitchen?**** Marvel knows what they are doing. Then when Matt knew Fisk was the one who released Castle and went to pay him a visit. That conversation legit had me at the edge of the toilet [as if I was watching 3 episodes straight while still dropping it like its hot.] Murdock was literally defenceless against this brute. This was the rise of the real Kingpin. Damn?I?m excited for him to hit the streets of Hell?s Kitchen in season 3.

Here is where the season got a little wonky for me?

    The Hand.

To be honest, I did not find them THAT intimidating. Although that one scene with them scaling the hospital to save the children of the corn was hella dope, they just had no substance. They reminded me of the League of Assassins in Arrow. A team that?s purpose is so vague, they really have no purpose to be there. They did provide some awesome action opportunities for both Daredevil and Elektra. Other than that, I could have done without them. And Stick, I actually hate the character with a passion. I literally take a nap when he comes on screen.

The culmination of the season was very climactic. I loved the scene where Elektra and Daredevil are deciding where they should die; in the building or on the roof. I also liked how Punisher was declared dead and he finally donned the skull on his chest. I feel that as much as the final episode was a set up for maybe a Punisher series or Defenders arc, it definitely did a near perfect job of developing Matt Murdock as Daredevil, Karen Page as a journalist and Foggy as a powered-people lawyer.

    Overall:

+ The theme of the show is beautifully executed through the ideals and perspectives of each character. It makes you question who is right and who is wrong.

    + The action, hands down.

+ The Punisher steals the show through his intricate backstory and arc.

+ Elektra brings a profound energy to the show.

+ All the supporting characters from last season (Foggy, Karen and Wilson Fisk) redeem themselves in a colossal way.

+Daredevil was developed with care and precision to make him the hero we know and love from the comics.

? The hand, Stick and Black Sky garbage.

So far, season 2 has been a an improvement imo, but now it’s an average score on Meteoritic of “6.1"? Not sure I get it. The viewer score is 9.1. I think I get that.

Two things about Daredevil that I think get short shrift from critics: First, just how different this show is compared to traditional television. The introduction of Frank Castle, a mostly off-camera slow burn that built suspense and anticipation was excellent. The style of storytelling is something that you just wouldn’t see on a traditional one hour, episodic, show. Even a good one. The long form (13 eps to tell one story) is different, and really fun.

The second, and maybe more unusual thing that I absolutely love about DD is that the three main characters, Matt, Foggy, and Karen, are all genuinely good people. They are not - as a great many lead characters seem to be these days - jaded and selfish people who may eventually come around to doing the right thing or making a sacrifice when you least expect it. Instead, they are heroes, people you can count on. They are two guys you might expect to sell their gold watches to buy expensive hair products for their friend who just sold her hair to by them new watch chains. Certainly the show is dark and gritty and violent, but it’s about heroes, not a serial killers, or corrupt politicians, or casual killers. People like that are in the show, too, but they aren’t the protagonists. There is no Don Draper or Red Reddington in a leading role. Not that such characters aren’t interesting too, but it’s just refreshing to be able to really root for good guys, to worry about them and actually hope they make it back from whatever dark alley they’ve wandered into for the sake of someone else.

I read DD in the early 80’s when comics were elevating their game and these characters were really coming into their own. This series makes me feel the same way about them as I did then. I find myself actually admiring them and wanting them to make it through. It’s really great when a TV show can do that too.

This kind of show needs a good, dangerous and interesting villain.

And one thing I noticed even in the first season:
During the fight scenes it's too easy to forget that Murdock is blind.
After a short amount of time the fights just look like two guys fighting and one of them is wearing a costume.
It's just my opinion, but I think that, during the fight scenes, the show isn't able to continuously convey Murdock's blindness.
Maybe the show would need more special effects to achieve that goal and it would take a movie budget to do it.
I know that the Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck wasn't good, but at least the special effects managed to make me "look" through Murdock's blind eyes and it made me get immersed into his world.

Apart from that, the fight scenes in this series are solid, but they aren't original enough to keep me interested in the long run.
And when there's no interesting villain in sight, there are not enough reasons to watch this show.

Often we in the design and media industry are forced to work with marketing departments as to make a product or in this case a show that fits a wide range of demographics and target markets. Daredevil has become a prime example of that recently in the latest season. Now why this happens in a lot of shows and movies what made the first season of daredevil so refreshing is that the marketing was far more minimal than most other tv shows. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE WITH THE SECOND SEASON!!!

    Casting:
    Elektra casting
indian actress to appeal to an indian market ( in the comic book she's greek)

    Plot: Elektra storyline
Romance story to appeal a female and Indian / Asian market

Punisher casting choice appeals to a comic book market ie walking dead etc
Plot is rich with subtle romantic undertones between Frank and Karen female targeted audience

Season 2 has Daredevil acting more as a plot framing device than the star of his own show.

You used to be cool Netflix making shows that stood out like True Detective, Lily Hammer, Narcos, Marco Polo, F is for Family and Bojack now you are becoming like every other terrible mainstream tv station that focuses more on ratings and less on good entertainment...

Get back to making more good entertainment don't make this the norm.

So boring. This season is only an excuse to put some new characters. The plot is lazy and stupid without a great story in all the chapters. I think that Netflix only writes this serie to increase their rating and their number of series in the plataform

At least the first season you could "see" despite the abuse of the camera shake, the night scenes of the second season are too dark!!! With my old plasma TV I can't see anything(and the camera shake abuse is still there). Netflix must add, as for pc games, a MOVIE'S minimum requirements: hdtv contrast 50.000:1 or higher, a view of ten tenths or higher.

Lots of action, great story lines, and very well developed characters. Best Marvel show on TV. Really, my favorite TV series since Lost. Hope they bring it back for third season.

Loved the story, the action fights were very impressive..I am enjoying this series as much as Fargo and Jessica Jones this season. Forget what many critics say, if you have enjoyed a good comic book in your life this is a gunshot to the floor, it cannot fail !!

If you are looking for a series that will keep you interested and asking questions from the start, you have found it. This series is fantastic because it does what all great series do: makes you want more. I have so many questions that need answers. Can't wait for S3.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What happened to Daredevil? Season 1 was robust and encapsulated a person with complexity, moral character, and a will. In season 2, much of this is replaced with emotional garbage. Yes, the "Punisher" is developed a little more, but this shouldn't be ultimately about him.

What Daredevil wants to communicate before facing certain death on the rooftop is that "if they face it together everything might be ok?" What happened to the moral compass, to the greater Power, and the ultimate cause of good triumphing over evil? Also, Daredevil has no words to say at Electra's death? Did she die for nothing? If he has lost his way, then who can distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, truth from error?

Get back Daredevils edge, or the show tanks!

    Bring back his edge.

Ultimately, Petrie and Ramirez created a season that fully understands Daredevil's strengths and plays to them accordingly. But this second installment is underwritten, and has failed to build on the show's fine first season.

Mr. Cox and Elden Hanson, as Foggy, do earnestness well and put across the sometimes dopey dialogue better than you’d have a right to expect. There’s not, however, a lot of wit or shading to their performances--the writing can be blamed, but they could be doing more to amplify it, to make the show more fun. For that, we can turn to Deborah Ann Woll, who jolts the show to life every time she appears as Karen.

I admire the series without being very engaged by it, but I can certainly see why you might get more hooked on it.
