    Over the years I heard from time to time praise for this show and also that it was overlooked and underappreciated. The praises were ranging from hidden gem up to best Marvel TV show. Finally I decided to watch the show and see if it is truly as good as these rumor say. To answer this immediately I say it is truly good and I agree that it is an awesome show. To answer this immediately I say it is truly good and I agree that it is an awesome show. It is however a bit disconnected from the rest of the MCU as it is set slightly after World War 2 long before everything else except the first Captain America movie. It continues the story of Peggy Carter. Approx one year has past since the conclusion of the first Captain America movie. Nazi Germany and Red Skull were defeated while Captain America is missing in action and the USA is back to normal. Peggy Carter works now for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) which will become S.H.I.E.L.D later in the timeline (or was integrated into it). Sadly despite all her skills and heroic deeds she is just seen as secretary by the other members of the SSR. Things change as Howard Stark (Tony Stark’s father) inventions appear on the black market and in the hands of enemies of the USA. He is suspected for treason and it is heavily investigated. The main story starts when he asks Peggy for help as she is the only one who he trusts and sees capable to find the truth. She gets the assistance of his butler Jarvis who is a man of many talents. I end it here with this set up to avoid spoilers. The story starts immediately strong and stays strong until the end. It is immersive, enjoyable and has good ideas. The twist work well and I enjoyed them a lot. The characters enhance the story and vice versa. Lets start with Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. She is an awesome protagonist and avoids the Mary Sue tropes. She is really strong and has many talents but is also a human being that struggles and has weaknesses. This makes her more relatable and immersive. She faces so much injustice, discrimination and still never falters. Then we have James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis who becomes my favorite along Peggy. He is Howard Stark’s butler and a man of honor, manners and many talents. While butler is his title he is also Howard’s confidante, friend (or closet thing that’s possible to a real friend for Howard) or even right hand man in many aspects. He is amazing and has a great chemistry with Peggy. Then of cause Howard Stark played by Dominic Cooper who has not that much screentime compared to the two but is interesting and delivers. He is a lot like brilliant inventor, playboy, **** slightly mad scientist and influential rich guy. In the SRR we get a lot of interesting characters with Shea Whigham as Roger Dooley, Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa and Chad M. Murray as Jack Thompson. All 3 have character and interesting personalities. They work because they feel like real human beings with flaws and weakness but also strengths. I was invested in them even when I dislike some of their actions. The bad guys also work well and I wont spoil them here as those are good twists too. I will say those were enjoyable and their motives understandable when all cards are on the table. Lets continue with the presentation. The sets look convincing and give the end of the forties feeling. Because I was not alive at the time and also be no historian I cant judge for historical accuracy. However this is an entertainment show so it is not that important. It is more important to convince the audience and give an immersive feeling and here the show succeeds. The costumes do this too and the action scenes are done in a convincing and intense way. Overall this is an awesome first season. It was truly entertaining and I wanted more of the show. I will watch season 2 and see if it gets even better. Fully recommend this season.… Expand

    Marvel's Agent Carter is my favorite superhero show, my favorite Marvel show, and one of my favorite shows of all time. Hayley Atwell's performance as Peggy Carter is exceptional, she really gets to shine as the character even more than she got to in Captain America: The First Avenger and she puts so much emotion and strength into her performance and her performance and the character showMarvel's Agent Carter is my favorite superhero show, my favorite Marvel show, and one of my favorite shows of all time. Hayley Atwell's performance as Peggy Carter is exceptional, she really gets to shine as the character even more than she got to in Captain America: The First Avenger and she puts so much emotion and strength into her performance and her performance and the character show that a woman can do a job just as good if not better than any man could and she plays a single working woman living in the 1940s having to juggle work, her social life, and dealing with the trials and tribulations of a woman living in the 40s perfectly. Hayley Atwell gives a emotionally powerful and inspirational performance, her performance is one of my top 5 favorite Marvel performances and Peggy is one of my top 5 favorite Marvel characters. The supporting performances are stupendous especically from Bridget Regan, Dominic Cooper, James D'Arcy, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Enver Gjokaj. The setting is outstanding, I love 40s look and it feels and looks really authentic. The makeup and hairstyling is phenomenal especially on Hayley Atwell, Bridget Regan, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Dominic Cooper. The costumes are excellent especially on Hayley Atwell and Bridget Regan. The props are superb especially the cars and guns. The makeup, hair, costumes, and props are all authentically 40s looking. The visual effects are spectacular especially the nitramene bomb explosions. This is an A+ first season.… Expand

    I expected from Marvel where the worst, I didn't expect that 1 season seems such excellent. It is excellent an era is transferred, the main character isn't badly registered. Yes there is "cranberry" about Russians, there are subject holes and statement of all series is made within for the audience at age not higher than 16+, but for the level of production Marvel it is not bad result.

    Certes, ces dames pourront éventuellement se réjouir de cette héroïne féministe mais c'est l'arbre qui cache la forêt : quoiqu'elle fasse, elle reste une bécasse et l'actrice a été uniquement choisie pour la taille de son soutif. Et si ce n'était pas le cas, elle n'aurait rien à faire là puisqu'elle joue comme une cruche de toute façon.

    Sinon bah on s'ennuie énormément malgré le faible nombre d'épisodes puisque c'est écrit avec les pieds par des scénaristes surmenés. A éviter et à fuir donc.    … Expand

While not every episode is great all of them are quite entertaining in their own way giving a great sense of adventure and just simply fun. The cast is overall pretty great too, Chad Michael Murray pleasantly surprised me with his performance as Thompson, but the ones who stand out and make the show what it is got be Hayle Atwell, bringing emotion, charm, confidence and a sense of quippines, she's extremely lovable and the perfect Peggy Carter (though sometimes she feels more like a superhero than a human during some fight scenes), whilst having fantastic chemistry with James D'Arcy who's Jarvis is probably the most fun character of the show. Agent Carter couldn't really get away from the MCU curse of having pretty weak villains, which made the finale pretty underwhelming. I would highly recommend this show, it has witty writing, extremely fun and likable characters and a great sense of atmosphere of late 40s America.… Expand

    Marvel's Agent Carter is better for not having to maintain crossovers with other Marvel property week in week out. On its own, it is a smart, thrilling espionage thriller with great performances across the board and a setting that is used very well.

    Peggy and her palatable beauty beyond just tea and biscuits keeps me glued to my Victorian lounger; my eyes are always on her to the detriment of my hearing…….that’s unfortunate for me; I impracticably miss the conspiracy just from a silly distraction (a boyish girl crush)……but to the rear I can hear jarvices voice and periodically I see his image; I root for him always; his superiorPeggy and her palatable beauty beyond just tea and biscuits keeps me glued to my Victorian lounger; my eyes are always on her to the detriment of my hearing…….that’s unfortunate for me; I impracticably miss the conspiracy just from a silly distraction (a boyish girl crush)……but to the rear I can hear jarvices voice and periodically I see his image; I root for him always; his superior demonstration of the British gentry joined to kindness and obsequiousness captures my admiration and dottie underwood emerging contribution as a terribly lovely peace of steel that few can bend persuades my conscience to join in her conflict with ‘loyalty’……the other characters are just incidentals….. still, the 8 o’clock hour on Tuesday evenings are reserved for peggy and her crew….… Expand

    "Agent Carter" is a terrifically fun show, full of wit, style, and action, and it's truly one of the better TV series to technically come out of the superhero genre. It's also admirably feminist, although its intent is hurt by the cartoonish sexism on display in the series and the lack of female characters. However, the series is a must-watch if only for Hayley Atwell's entertaining and"Agent Carter" is a terrifically fun show, full of wit, style, and action, and it's truly one of the better TV series to technically come out of the superhero genre.     Just one word Outstanding. Agent Carter is the most amazing female action heroine from comic books. I saw the whole season and was blown away. Plus, Hayley Atwell is the perfect choice for the role. I really loved it.

A less exciting plot and non-existing characters does define almost every episode, but it’s still a great refreshment on the crime genre with its stylish old theme and classic action. My expectations wasn’t that high, and after seeing this new tv-show by Marvel can I say that it’s a fine show andAgent Carter got its moments with action and humorous events but it’s still greatly overrated. But the show does as mentioned have much less exciting events and some of the dialogs are so boring. But the action that does exist is perfect. The main characters are great too, but some of them are just so non-existing.

    Agent Carter is a clever, cool, old-stylish and sometimes exciting crime show that got boring aspects, but the cleverness and the feeling to it really makes it entertaining (not to mention all the Marvel references). Even though my overall rating for each episode is 6.6, and that I should give it a 7, am I giving this first season a 6/10. It unfortunately needs much more excitement to it, if it’s going to earn a 7.

    Agent Carter is like the show Star Trek Enterprise; a less impressive (prequel) continuation of the original show (in this case the Marvel movies).

    This was a good period piece that added history and context to the Marvel Universe. It's not as compelling as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," but I would be curious to see where this story goes next.

    The devices and gadgets, in efforts to raise the stakes in each episode, have been written to be so powerful that any one of them, or even the implications of the technologies that would have been required to create the device, could drastically change future episodes, but each is hyped, hunted then forgotten: each mcguffins. This is an incredibly disappointing show that should have taken queues from the highly successful Bioshock franchise on how to do a satisfying mix of noir and tech.

    This is a throw away, boring, poorly written, poorly acted less than average show that maintains its viewership solely on its tenuous connection to the popular Marvel universe.    … Expand

It's set in a wildly different time period than any other series on tv, is historical, creative, adds beautifully to the Marvel universe, ties in with Agents of SHIELD, cameos for familiar movie faces, and is all around well done.     In a way it serves to connect the dots of everything that couldn't be shown/told in the movies.

    Each member of the cast proved to be a unique a valuable piece. Not something I see often, if any at all.

Anyway turns out Peggy is bad-ass, smart and cool.

    The show takes place in 1946, a year after Captain America: First Avenger, - but don't worry it's much better - Peggy Carter is relegated to secretarial duties in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). When Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) is accused of treason, he secretly recruits Peggy to clear his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy).

    As you might have figure out I did not like the first Captain America, I honestly can't really remember it but I know how I felt after watching it. So when Agent Carter was announced I could not care less but that was until I show the Marvel One-shot about her.

    Agent Carter got off with a really strong start because everything works on that show, the 1940's post-war era, the film noir feel of it, and even the misogyny. It all works. The creators have managed to put the viewers in that era, obviously the costumes and the props help, but the devil is in the details. Agent Carter has many details, among which the way they speak, the dynamic between characters especially how women were treated and what was expected of them, I was taken back to the 1940s despite not being nearly old enough to have lived in that era.

    The double life, even tripple life, Peggy lives because she can't tell she works for the SSR and is helping her friend Stark gives her a lone ranger vibe - not the Depp movie - seeking justice with her sidekick Jarvis. The disguises in her missions and the 1940s like tech quickly turns the show into a sort of film noir version of JJ Abrams' Alias. It showcases all the struggles of leading a double life entails and it's massively entertaining.

    Jarvis is a great in the show, the banter between Carter and Jarvis, just adds to the brilliance of the show and brings the comedy aspect the Marvel properties have. It was refreshing that the guy she's going on covert missions with is not a love interest, they are partners. Most of her co-workers at the SSR are simply a bunch of morons that have a high opinion of themselves because they have a c**k. It's actually fun to see how blind and prejudiced as they can be but there's room for them to grow in the show and try to change their way. They are so convincingly portrayed that you quickly get into it.

    Which brings me to the Cast, Hayley Atwell embodies the character perfectly. The way she carries herself, her expressions and her acting just does it. You can feel that Peggy Carter is hungry, she's underestimated and unappreciated, she wants it to work and do what her part to help in the spy game. James D'Arcy is the icing on the cake, it wouldn't have been the same without him. Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, Shea Whigham and Kyle Bornheimer gives the show some substance. Dominic Cooper the extravagance of a Stark and surprisingly enough Lyndsy Fonseca brings the normal and sweet in all this.

    To me, Agent Carter is a good period piece stand alone spy show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

    I watched this show with only little knowledge about Peggy Carter, the main titular character of the event series. Now I understand why many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans love Peggy Carter so much and I am one of her newest fans.

    The setting of this show is fascinating to watch and analyze as Peggy Carter has to deal with sexism as she is the only female agent in SSR. For a period    I watched this show with only little knowledge about Peggy Carter, the main titular character of the event series. Now I understand why many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans love Peggy Carter so much and I am one of her newest fans.

    The setting of this show is fascinating to watch and analyze as Peggy Carter has to deal with sexism as she is the only female agent in SSR.

    For a period network drama series, this has got great cast performances. It’s very well-acted that it’s hard for me to choose who is the best actress besides Hayley Atwell. They played their roles really well and they enjoyed the characters they played.

    The writing is top-notch and the plot from start to finish is fun and intriguing. The best part is the character development on not only Peggy but also for the rest of the characters. It’s basically why I am such a huge fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

    The cinematography in this show is eye-appealing and makes it really feel like a show set in the 40s. I actually tried watching the first episode on black and white and it does make it like a 40s show! Of course, I chose to watch it in color because I am more used to it.

    Agent Carter is a fun TV show thanks to its great cast performances, top-notch writing, intriguing yet fun plot, compelling character development, excellent cinematography.    … Expand

    I thought this was really good until the ending, which ended kind of weak. I mean it had me on the edge of my chair and then the last episode just didn't deliver for me. I still liked it, just thought it would had a better ending.

Prior to this show Peggy Carter's main claim to fame was that she was Captain America's colleague who in contrast to the ageless Steve Rodgers got old and died. The producers have fleshed out her back story and came up with a show that's truly engaging, borrowing a bit from Madmen's take onOnce again Marvel has made a side character almost as interesting as the main protagonist. Prior to this show Peggy Carter's main claim to fame was that she was Captain America's colleague who in contrast to the ageless Steve Rodgers got old and died.     Agent Carter is the best female marvel tv hero (perhaps the best female hero in tv period). The show is easy to get into but it doesn't feel dumbed down either. The characters and the setting are likeable. The action is there but never over done. Carter comes across as a strong woman not because she is trying to prove something but because she has to be (it's part of her job). Fortunately, as Season One almost reaches its finale, the show has markedly upped its game. The penultimate episode was first rate. Viewing figures have dropped by 2m, but you assume renewal for Season 2 will happen.     Agent Carter is a witty and kick-ass espionage/period show. It has very high production values, and the costume/set department should be proud of their work. The show is very stylish and pleasant because of the attire the actors wear & the set pieces that their characters inhabit. Peggy Carter is a strong role model, and it's nice to see a capable woman in the MCU (and we may get another,Agent Carter is a witty and kick-ass espionage/period show. It has very high production values, and the costume/set department should be proud of their work. The show is very stylish and pleasant because of the attire the actors wear & the set pieces that their characters inhabit. Peggy Carter is a strong role model, and it's nice to see a capable woman in the MCU (and we may get another, a superheroine when “Captain Marvel” releases).

    The men of “Agent Carter” were unbelievably sexist and ignorant in the first 2 or 3 episodes, and at times it made you wonder if all the men were dumbed-down idiots simply for Carter to seem much more capable in comparison. However, I think the episodes "The Blitzkrieg Button" and "The Iron Ceiling" are big examples of the show’s improvement in that regard. Peggy's boss (Chief Dooley) and co-workers (Jack Thompson and Daniel Sousa) all get some memorable dialogue on-screen and some character-driven moments.

    To be honest, I think that Hayley Atwell still needs more emotional expression to her character, as Peggy mostly has the same facial expression (with slight variations) all the time. Also, I think the following may be true to a certain extent--Peggy's character growth is limited by the fact that she's obligated to set a standard for women in a male-dominated genre, industry, and Cinematic Universe. Because of Carter constantly having to prove herself, Peggy's only real struggles are against rampant sexism. Peg doesn't really have any big weaknesses or character flaws, which makes her feel a bit unrelatable at times. "The closest she comes to being flawed is crying over pictures of Steve Rogers and going through the five thousandth iteration of the 'It’s dangerous to get too close to me,' superhero story arc."

    Nevertheless, Hayley Atwell convincingly plays Agent Carter at her best--very confident, capable, and strong. James D’Arcy is a charming character, with his accent and his mannerisms. It is funny to see him begrudgingly tag along with Peg on various dangerous exploits. Howard Stark (played by Dominic Cooper) is an amigable and boisterous playboy, just like his son Tony Stark.The other cast members are fun as well.

    I think some Marvel fans will find it interesting to see more lore and MCU characters from the past (during the 1940’s, to be specific). Agent Carter has a very good opportunity to explore certain things in the the MCU’s history, which I feel the show has yet to fully capitalize on. Peggy is one of the most influential women in the MCU--appearing in Captain America 1 & 2, Agents of SHIELD, a Marvel One-Shot, and The Avengers 2. She also has ties to Hank Pym (the first Ant-Man) in the MCU. Yet the "Agent Carter" show has her struggling to gain respect from her peers. I feel that the show would've been better off showing Peggy at multiple points in her life (creating SHIELD with Howard Stark, battling HYDRA, helping Hank Pym, etc). However, "The Iron Ceiling" episode shows the origins of the Black Widow program & the Red Room--a Soviet training facility that coerces abducted girls to become assassins. That was a pretty fascinating aspect of the 5th episode, and I think it’s an example of what the show could be like in the future.

    Overall, Marvel’s Agent Carter is enjoyable show, with a strong (maybe too strong) female protagonist. The 1940’s atmosphere is an interesting one to explore, especially when it’s set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I hope that the series is renewed for a Season 2, because there is so much untapped Marvel mythology that can be explored.

    Lots of action, good storyline, very good acting. Based in the 1940's and really does a good job in giving capturing that 1940's feel. Much better overall than Agents of Shield.

    A brilliant continuation of Peggy Carters story set in the Marvel cinematic universe, with strength and depth in the acting (Hayley Atwell and James Darcy shine) and the setting. Top marks go the the props and design department as they fully capture the feel of the late 40's early 50's

The plot is lackluster, and unfortunately it seems the writers still suffer from contemporary sexism, as the most finely tuned noir elements of the script still go to the typical male detectiveI want to like this show a lot more than I do. Because of this, Agent Carter, in spite of her daring exploits, feels less like the hero and more like the bullied kid on the playground. The villains feel inconsequential when the antagonists we're invested in her overcoming are right there in the office, yet there seems no hope of ever overcoming them, because the writers interpret this as period setting rather than plot-driving conflict. How long am I expected to watch Carter curtsy and endure such asininity from the SSR? The show lacks nuance, it's unsophisticated, and doesn't do justice to the characters or the talent signed on.… Expand

    Agent Carter is a fun noir, mystery adventure with a smart story about how women weren't respected in the 1930's. And if you enjoyed movies like the Rocketeer then you will definitely enjoy this show. Watching the Flash followed by Agent Carter or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. makes for a great night of tv. If you're not watching both in a row or just this. You're missing out.

    Though it has its moments it suffers from the 1950 sexism, which I am finding annoying and seems to be over used.

    The plot is a bit pedestrian right now.

    I wasn't a big fan of Peggy in the first Cap movie, so the pilot blew me away even more. The show does an excellent job creating the world of Peggy Carter, the viewer is drawn right in and it's made easy for us to sympathize with her. In a man's world she navigates the casual chovinistic attitudes of co-workers and foes alike, but she knows how to pick her battles, uses the sexism againstI wasn't a big fan of Peggy in the first Cap movie, so the pilot blew me away even more. The show does an excellent job creating the world of Peggy Carter, the viewer is drawn right in and it's made easy for us to sympathize with her. In a man's world she navigates the casual chovinistic attitudes of co-workers and foes alike, but she knows how to pick her battles, uses the sexism against her for her own means. It's now a black-and-white world though, we have the sympathetic Souza, a charismatic Howard Stark and his butler Jarvis. So for everyone complaining all men are portrayed as evil, they're not. Besides, Peggy has her flaws. Everyone has flaws. Just like life. Amazing, isn't it? I've only seen three episodes so far but I'm very optimistic about this show and hopefully we might even get another season.… Expand

    Very well done show. It seems very promising and quite honestly enjoyable. I would highly recommend this show. If you are sceptical at least give it a watch and it will sway you to its side!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I totally loved the show. it was amazing the action the stunts Agent carter has by far set the bar for Agents of shield. I can't compare the two shows with one another of course but Agent carter runs for 8-episodes so that's why it has more action and gets right to the point in the story we know agent carter no need for her back story which was just perfect. The rest of the supporting cast like Jarvis was spot on had me laughing in some parts but still for the first season it's off to a great start.… Expand

    An amazingly well done comic book inspired series based on the premiere episodes. Who knew you would have to go back to the 1940's to reinvigorate comics on television. Love the spy genre and the copious action. It's also nice to have a strong female protagonist for a change. Great writing, top notch production values and great acting.     I'm a big marvel fan but the way the show was stunt casting bothered even a crossover happy dude like me. Flashbacks to remind us why we should bear with it? That's not a good sign.     Cancelled midway trough is my prediction.

    The Production aspect is fine, safe the story, which is convoluted and generic.

    So far, the Disney experiment is working, if not always perfectly. Agent Carter‘s tone seems right and its lead seems perfect, helping the live-action wing of the Marvel franchise to evolve as it spreads across time into our current entertainment and its future.
