"Wow, it's like a Goldilocks planet!" and with that one statement this entire series gives you all the explanation they want to give -and think you need- to suspend reality for 10hours that WOW, THESE GUYS ARE ON ANOTHER PLANET ENTIRELY!!!! Yeah OK, Star Trek did a lot of the same BS ..but hey it was half a century ago & SPFX sucked (altho THEY did ALOT to change that) and they were truly on shoestring budget. Netflix has money to burn and THIS is being promo'd as one of their tentpole new series. I like the C21 (21st century) re-imagining (altho gotta admit never really watched original) and they do have a lot of cool sets..BUT for me still with so much time being spent outdoors I just can't wrap my head around the fact that they found -completely by accident- an almost perfect example of earth (gravity, air comp, single sun, earth-like vegetation, etc. etc.) and also once you found this perfect planet..WTF do you wanna leave? The storyline pulls you in, but the main character family is very basic, they have token minority actors with a primarily white cast. The character of June is very annoying and the storyline could do without. Victor could have just been the antagonist of the group and the story would have been more believable. I think i will watch season two, but only if the writing gets better.

Besides lousy plot lines and scripts, I have issue with the characters. John Robinson is a wuss. Shown as a special ops, he cannot think for himself or do anything an expedition needs. HE need not be there at all. Parker Posey is a really bad actress. Her dialog is terrible as well.
This show needs new writers as it has the potential to be much more.

Being a fan of the original, I expected a bit more from the 2018 version. It is too much teen oriented for me and lacks humor. Characters are well developed, CGI is good but Dr Smith is sometimes too dark. The robot has evolved very well from it's original concept. I have high hopes for season 2.

So much crying and then flashbacks of crying. Why does the director/editor need us to see them crying so often? Some odd dialog choices as well. I get there is family tension, but show us that, don't use weird dialog to tell us that. "She'll be ok. She's always ok. Annoying." "Do they [my kids] miss me?" "..... I don't know." Underwhelmed, was hoping for so much more. It has potential, but the writers don't seem to know what direction they want to go. Some of the characters are horribly written. First thing I've seen Parker Posey in, that I want to fast forward every time she's on screen!

Not horrible. Not good. The overall plotline is a bit on the predictable side and the characters are a bit too cliché, and not in a fun way. If you're super bored, it's nominally entertaining.

All the actors dont act like they are even trying to convey any emotions at all and look very stale in what they are trying to say or show. The shows pace is slow and somewhat boring, I know its a series and it needs to pace out the story over different episodes but a lot of the time the camera is just panning over the horizon or looking at something insignificant to the story. I dont mind seeing some of the planets landscape from time to time to show me a distant upcoming storm but the shows pace is just too slow to hold most peoples attention. The best thing the show has so far going for it is the really badass robot, which ill admit is the best actor on the show even though it doesnt speak (well except when it says "danger will robertson). Overall I guess its good for big scifi fans only. I myself kind of enjoyed it but like I said the awkward acting made it hard to watch. Expand

I enjoyed the first 6 episodes but by the end wanted to punch Will Robinson. Those last few episodes were bad, other than the dad and the guy with the chicken, I honestly didn't care about them by the end.
Netflix get to the point in future, adding in additional things going wrong to pad the story out doesn't work if they are so infuriatingly dumb that you give up caring about the characters.

This series is good but it fails when it tries to hold close to its source material.

The show is full of interest and has a lot of potential but it focuses on tired tropes and uninteresting characters rather than building a story of its own. This ruins a potentially great series. This is heavily reinforced with filler. Massive amounts of filler. Cut the show down to two 2 hour long

It had potential but it never lived up to its own hype. Cut it down to 2 hours and remove every link it has to Lost in Space and this could be a fun and interesting Scifi. Unfortunately this one is a bit of a boring flop.

Yawning!!! These kids are ruining the whole series. The seriousness of the situation of being stranded on an alien planet is completely destroyed. A teenager is always crying or defiant.

A lake never freezes from the bottom up what a nonsense. O18 cores are heavier than O16, so a lake freezes from top to bottom. Even the super-cooled water effect isn´t realistic. For me as a geologist

Often you'll have the smart characters telling you how smart they are just incase you didnt know. We frequently shouted and rolled our eyes as our brains hurt on every episode after the first one (which is ok). Almost every scene damages itself inexplicably.

It's worth a watch if you like sci-fi. But leave your brain behind and get lost in dumb.

First, and importantly, this is a complete reboot/rethinking of the 60s classic series. In fact, this is closer to the plot of "Swiss Family Robinson"; it has hardly anything to do with space - they're stranded on an icy, treacherous planet. The only thing that even ties this one to that one is the character names, they didn't even fit the classic title-music theme in at all. The only thing that even ties this one to that one is the character names, they didn't even fit the classic title-music theme in at all. The Robinson family is now based on a broken marriage with a black Judy (!) that's not even explained in the entire first season! Dr Smith is a woman vs the original's old man and is even a more vile character than before. As dark and "real" as this could've been, it has a very Disney feel to it. There's a bit too much cheerfulness/joviality especially from mother Robinson given the dire events and conditions they're in. John Robinson is played by Toby Stephens who must've been a less expensive version of John McGinley ("Scrubs", "Stan Against Evil") because he looks, sounds, and acts like him. In fact, the whole cast is mostly unattractive/homely c-level actors if known at all; even Miss Obscurity herself, Parker Posey, stars as fraudulently-assumed-name Dr Smith. As evil, manipulating, and conniving as her character is, it's just so transparently obvious she's written to be in the proverbial catbird's seat the entire run of the series. When she commits heinous acts, no one's around to witness and she never has attendant injuries. They've written her to be a psycho-pathological liar and it's very frustrating to see her succeed time after time, so that in itself is a plausibility problem, but plausibility is a problem throughout, for instance when the chariots are driven extremely fast, even raced, over treacherous landscapes and it's treated like they're traveling on safe roads. And when everyone knows how to operate everything all the time without a single reservation, especially considering the young ages of most of them. It's just not believable guys. And the alien robot who's so intimately tied to Will Robinson goes unnamed by anyone, not likely. It's like the writers and directors don't have a solid, cohesive vision for the characters and plot, it's all very uneven and generally disappointing, especially since it seems they thought enough to emphasize racial and gender diversity, politically correct, check. It's a shame the acting can't keep up with the great production values. The final scene of the season definitely teases where they'd go in season-two, but it's not at all a given they'll be awarded that. Expand

Set design, effects, and general tone of this series are quite impressive, and ultimately it isn't a bad way to spend a cold weekend in. Let's skip to the ultimate thing that lets this show down, it's the villain. I recently watched Lemony Snicket, and was delighted with NPHs portrayal of Count Olaf. In lost in space the lack of ability to see Dr Smith as a villain is on the same levels of Count Olaf, but where as in that series it's a wink to the audience and plays on how ridiculous it is that people can't seem to see he's a villain, in this we're meant to believe everyone is brain dead in some capacity. Unfortunately all to often you will be groaning at how oblivious the rest of the crew seem to be to even the basic levels of sense. It's ultimately what tears the series down from an well produced enjoyable sci-fi romp to a fairly average and in some places poor series. Some say the acting is bad but I'm not sure that is really the case, however it's very hard to believe in their portrayals, because it's hard to believe anyone in real life would be this stupid.

All effects are very well done, and the series is beautiful to see. But the plot is much more a drama than scientific fiction. There were a lot of opportunities to explore in 1st season (e.g. the discovery of a new world, new fauna and flora) and yet they focused too much in personal and familiar drama.

The story is utter rubbish. Nearly zero substance to anyone's motives, and with enough plot-holes that is looks more like a hole than a plot. The acting is substandard but production is commendable otherwise. The CGI is patchy in places but mostly well-done. This Sci-Fi is more fiction than science.
