    Even by the soap-opera standards of telenovelas, it feels a little much. The pieces at first don’t always mesh smoothly. Rodriguez is terrific, though, and this could be that rare telenovela that assimilates.

    I went into this show with some reservations, but I am so glad I put those on hold and watched anyway. Wonderful casting, humorous, campy,I went into this show with some reservations, but I am so glad I put those on hold and watched anyway. Wonderful casting, humorous, campy, touching and truly some laugh out loud moments. Rogelio de la Vega who plays Jane's father is perfect as the narcissistic, shallow telenova star with a heart of gold. Gina Rodriguez as Jane is perfectly cast as well as her mother and grandmother in the show. In fact the whole ensemble just fits nicely together.

    I think my initial hesitation on watching this show was 1. the title 2.CW, which has put out some good shows over the years, but nothing recently that is going to pique this 50 something year old's interest. Nice surprise    … Full Review »
