It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia continues to earn its long run with constant re-invention, novel storytelling, sharp-as-nails comedic performances, and an unrelenting willingness to dig deeper into some of the most depraved, deluded, and hilarious television protagonists to ever grace the small screen.

Sitcoms don't typically keep getting better as they close in on the one decade mark. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is absolutely the exception to the rule. It gets better every season, no matter how often it is overlooked for awards and critical recognition. It's almost as if The Gang keeps getting better to spite those in the media that look the other way.

And it probably helps that the actors still seem to be having a blast after ten years of doing the show, too.

After a slightly disappointing tenth season the ten episodes on offer here are a welcome return to form for the dysfunctional group making It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia once again one of the funniest shows on television.

Season 11 is very much a return to form and features a lot of classic episodes that I find myself constantly rewatching.

You know how it is often said about a series that has been on the air for ten years that "it's still good but it's not what it used to be". Well, that is not the case for Sunny. Well, that is not the case for Sunny. The series stared in 2005 and it's eleventh season was just as fresh, just as hideous, just as nasty and just as fun. The characters, which we've grown to love despite their terrible personalities were back, probably worse than ever. The season culminated with a fantastic finale, which was - hands down - the best episode of the series.

Season 11 would serve as a great farewell season, with a perfect ending, but It's Always Sunny will be back for at least three more seasons ...

Funny but no longer relevant. It's humorless and despite some gems is easily forgettable.

The charming, vulgar cacophony carries on. But for some, it may just be quieter and less urgent than it used to be.

For all the ambition and exaggeration of these episodes, however, it's the subtle “Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs” that best summarizes Sunny's approach to its “golden” years. A warm, inviting suburban atmosphere has long been a staple of American sitcoms, and Sunny instantly corrupts it.
